I'm very shocked that the release was so soon but I'm not complaining. Here's to hoping that it is at least decent enough to make a majority of people happy.

II never understood the people who say that some of BioWare's comments are insulting.

..I've never been insulted by one of their comments. I feel like people are just seeing and hearing what they want to see and hear.

I'm sure thats true for some of them but advertising how ME3 "provoked a bigger fan reaction in gaming history" is kinda insulting....

It did provoke the biggest reaction in gaming history. Don't kid yourself.

I know it did, the fact they they advertised it is as if it were a good thing was what I found insulting.

It WAS good thing for them. Any publicity is good publicity. Don't you know anything about this business?

Sure its good publicity for them which is fine by me, but you just dont advertise something like that without displaying disregard for everyone who stirred up that publicity in the first place. It would different if it was a positive thing, but it wasnt at all.

Jexx21 wrote...

Seriously, you find it insulting to you?

That's weird.

If anything they would be insulting themselves. But I'm sure a lot of people bought the game just to see what the fuss was all about.

How is it weird? I'm not the only one lmao. They did insult themselves, and I'm sure some ppl did buy the game for whatever reason, but what I'm saying is advertised it as if having that much negative feedback from the ending is something to be proud of.

I don't know about all that.  The "reaction" began a few days after the release when the hardcore guys finished it.  Using Xbox360 sales numbers:

By the second week, their sales numbers were down 80%.  By the third week, the "reaction" was everywhere and the sales were down another 50% of what it had been the second week.  By the fourth week, some stores were offering deep discounts on the game.

Unlike any of the other games, ME3 sold more during the release week (before the ending reaction) than it has with all the other weeks combined.  No doubt they made themselves a pile of money, but imagine what it could have been with a decent ending or proper handling of the "reaction". Not sure how good you can rate that publicity.

Wow this is rather unexpected. I really didn't expect this until at least the end of July. Looking forward to seeing if this is what will fix the end for me and I'm sure many others.

If actually played Mass effect 3 and enjoin ending something must be wrong with you. There was no closure most of stuff what happen in the end didn't make sense unless you follow the IT Theory.

Good news it's coming out, and I'm surprised it's coming out so soon. Anyways, I guess we'll see what we see when we see it.

Wow, wasn't expecting anything so soon..Not sure if I should be excited or worried. Just some cautious optimism for now, I guess. Interested to seeing how this turns out.

I might just watch this on youtube, because I have less than zero interest in playing this game from the Cerberus Base to the end again. That is the most tedious part of the game.

I think I'm going to do the same thing as well.  Especially because this:

The Extended Cut is an expansion of the original endings to Mass Effect 3. It does not fundamentally change the endings, but rather it expands on the meaning of the original endings, and reveals greater detail on the impact of player decisions.

says to me: "the ending is still a plot-hole ridden piece of garbage that negates all your decisions, we just tried to write our way out of it instead of admitting we were wrong."

I would LOVE to be proven wrong, but I'm not even cautiously optimistic.  I'm not looking forward to Tuesday.  Instead, I mark today as the day I pretty much stopped giving my money to BioWare and moved on.  It was fun while it lasted guys.  My last words on this forum?

FIRE whoever wrote the ending.  Seriously, he has no talent, and instead of letting him hide behind your "artistic integrity" shield, you should've thrown him under the bus and apologized to us.  When Mass Effect 4 inevitably comes out, expect sales of less than half what other games have done.

Ah yes, the 'Indoctrination Theory Theory'. I follow that one closely.

I have never heard a man in such denial as Casey Hudson was in the interview. He is simply infuriating.

The extended cut is really more about taking the things that are there and making them shine even more

That's a line from the podcast (08:58).
So basically what we're getting is things that are there further explained upon while keeping the things, which people got so mad and confused about, intact. This is literally spraying glitters on a turd hoping it'll look better but it still smells terrible.

I never expected much from the EC in the first place, but after hearing the podcast it sounds to me you failed to listen and acknowledge what people said was terrible and wrong with the ending. The EC is a very nice gesture, and perhaps created from the idea some people felt there were some blank pages that needed to be filled.

Excellent strategy. With the EC you can say you've done a good deed, gave something to the community after the massive uproar and piggyback on the feedback you've received from the least amount of people.

I haven't watched it yet as I'm sure I'd just end up yelling at the computer from them. But from the bits people have posted that they really didn't "Listen" at all.

I'll be honest, I am looking towards the EC with more dread then optimism. I highly doubt that my view on the ending will change, but I am open minded enough to admit I could be wrong. Oh well, here's hoping that the EC somehow manages to solve most of our problems.

As an addition to what I said, my main reason for doubting the quality of the EC is because Bioware still refuses to change the endings and the podcast makes me think that they do not understand what our problems with the endings are. It's hard to have faith with the odds stacked against this being good.
