i agree, however, EC is last chance for me for BW period, if this sucks, i will never buy anything from them ever again
I thought about this for awhile back when this all started. I won't condemn all of Bioware for what the Mass Effect team did. However, after DA II they are on much shakier ground to start with. I swore I wouldn't give Bioware another cent for Mass Effect (DLC, MP items, etc.) unless they fixed the ending and I've kept my word. If this doesn't repair the ending to my satisfaction then they have seen the last ME dollar out of me. DA III bites it and Bioware will have seen my last dollars period.
I already have Witcher 2 in the queue .. been waiting for EC so I can put ME to bed and move to that.

Is it just me, or does 1.9gig seem too big for that we "are told" we are getting? o__o
In the interview, they claimed they had difficulty with the 2GB limit imposed by Microsoft, so chances are, they would have done even more if it weren't for that.
Hmmm, it just seems rather large to me for just extended scenes etc...

I'm not gonna hold my breath but I'm slightly hoping it's great.
EDIT: and why isn't Kaidan in the wallpaper?
Probably for the same reason there is no femshep, because it is either 1 or the other.

I'll be honest, I am looking towards the EC with more dread then optimism. I highly doubt that my view on the ending will change, but I am open minded enough to admit I could be wrong. Oh well, here's hoping that the EC somehow manages to solve most of our problems.
___
As an addition to what I said, my main reason for doubting the quality of the EC is because Bioware still refuses to change the endings and the podcast makes me think that they do not understand what our problems with the endings are. It's hard to have faith with the odds stacked against this being good.
I agree completely with everything you said.(decided to merge everything into one quote to save space
Its good to know that Bioware is fixing some problems though, such as clarifying the current ending or the EMS rating.
But the thing I am most confused about is why they outright refuse to add new(different) endings. I mean it would win back a very, VERY good part of the community and help them in the long run, financially and otherwise.
Anyways, lets wait and see what the EC has to offer....maybe our hopes lie somewhere in that 1.9 GB.

From what Jessica has previously said on Twitter and some devs have said on these forums it appears that they are changing at least one major aspect of the ending in the destruction of the relays and its lasting effect of hindering space travel. The Stargazer scene makes it plain and clear that even long after the relays are destroyed space travel is not possible. But Jessica and several devs have said that the relays being destroyed doesn't mean new ones can't just be built. The game itself says otherwise, but if they're willing to change that aspect of the ending then why not more? Why not ditch the GodChild altogether?

I don't know about all that. The "reaction" began a few days after the release when the hardcore guys finished it. Using Xbox360 sales numbers:
By the second week, their sales numbers were down 80%. By the third week, the "reaction" was everywhere and the sales were down another 50% of what it had been the second week. By the fourth week, some stores were offering deep discounts on the game.
Sure, but this isn't too different from ME2, which had declines of 72% in week 2 and 43% in week 3, as opposed to ME3's 79% and 51%. And in weeks 4-9 ME2 sales declined faster than ME3 sales did. After 10 weeks, which takes us up to May 12 for ME3, the ratio of week 1 sales to total sales was pretty much identical for both games --59.1% for ME2, 59.3% for ME3.
I'm not saying there isn't a problem, but these numbers don't show one.

Didn't you post this paragraph a few hours ago?
And no, the Stargazer scene didn't prove anything of the sort. It proves that one planet didn't have functioning relays or a functional QEC. It said nothing at all about any other planets in the galaxy.

To the bolded, I have no idea. Even if hurt egos were involved, one would think that SOMEONE would at some point have sat down with a return on investment chart. Do they really believe that "clarity" and "closure" will win us back? In spite of everything that's been said and done over the past three months?

Yes. I want people to know that "artistic integrity" doesn't apply to the entire ending.

Nonsense. Why would entire systems be left out of a rebuilding effort?

Now it's time if you can deliver as most fans think this is the last chance for the series.

You guys are being really good sports for doing the Extended Cut. Personally I think all the whining about the ending was bull****. Of course I want more Mass Effect but the ending seemed like a proper one to me.

I certainly plan to! I'm going to put them on, start the loooooooong process of getting a refund, and join in the EA/Bioware boycott. On the plus side, the past three months have made me appreciate Blizzard so much more! <3
