And where do you get that figure of "billions"? The Migrant Fleet - "the largest array of spacefaring vessels in the known galaxy" - only held 17 million and it was crammed to the gills. Are you really saying that the other races crammed over 50 times that many sentients into their ships?
In response to this part of your post, there are billions of sentients all over the galaxy that were waylayed or otherwise misplaced in addition to the probably millions currently floating about (allegedly, we did ask for a DLC for a reason

Ilos had been visited. How else would it be known that it was home to Prothean ruins before Shepard went there? Liara certainly knew there were substantial Prothean ruins.
You sure you've played ME1? From the Codex:No visits.Like the ancient human city of Troy, Ilos is a world known only through second-hand sources. References to Ilos have been found at several other Prothean ruins, though direct study of the world is unlikely to occur.Ilos lies in a remote area of the Terminus Systems only accessible by the legendary Mu Relay. Four thousand years ago, the Mu Relay was knocked out of position by a supernova and lost. Since then, Ilos and its cluster have been inaccessible.Occasionally, a university will organize an expedition to chart a route to Ilos using conventional FTL drive. These never get beyond the planning stages due to the distance and danger. The journey could take years or decades, passing through the hostile Terminus Systems and dozens of unexplored systems.
Second-hand accounts. As in derived from people who had been there. The relay has been out of commission for 4000 years. The Asari were already kicking around and using the relays at that time.
And why would a Sol-adjacent system with habitable, Earth-like planets be ignored when the Sol system is now home to billions of aliens with nowhere to go? It makes no sense and you know it.
Who says the Stargazer's world is Sol-adjacent?

Meant to say people. Earth is ravaged and there's still billions of humans. Then add in the aliens and everyone's SOL unless they find habitable planets very quickly.

I'm sure Bioware will be ready for another round of damage control just in case. This sort of thing happened with another game I played. Their forums got locked for a month, and they were very strict on what kinds of messages were posted after the lock was lifted. Anything that was against the new game, bam, locked, deleted. Or in some cases, people were banned from the forums.
I hope it we don't see another round of that for the Extended Cut. These guys at Bioware put their heart and soul into making this (free of charge, mind you) so that we could get some closure to the things left unanswered. I'm sure thankful they are doing it.
I have no doubt that from now on it wil be pro Bioware posts or lock/bans.
As for putting their heart and soul into it.
It's Damage Control to try and maximise the paid DLC and minimse the car crash for a major IP. They did it because it was a breakeven point for them not because they felt anything towards the wallets they'd just conned.

So you're saying Bioware did the right thing but for the wrong reasons?

I probably shouldn't have listened to the podcast and just waited. I listen to those guys and I think of the respect I had for them before the end and I want to believe what they say about how they feel about the ME universe and the fanbase, but then all I can hear is the mountain of BS, half-truths/lies and insulting comments.
And while Jessica Merizan might be really good people, sweet and kind, etc. I find myself totally disregarding any input she has to offer because it all sounds like "oh god I wanna keep my job" to me. Cynical and unfair? Probably, but that's what goes through my head.
So, I'm going to open my mind as much as I can and DL the EC and see. Last chance for the ME Team for me. For Bioware, DA III is their last chance.
Fair enough. However, some of the vehement fan reaction is no better. Sure, many of them are sweet and kind fans, but making snide and personally inflammatory remarks in any ME-related conversation is not the proper reaction, either--no matter the cause.

This whole Extended Cut is a one time deal. They're only doing one ending DLC, and then moving onto other things that they have planned. They said a year of DLC is coming out after this.

This statement kind of makes me think the fans created this game and that we have the right to change it. Unfortunately, we did not. We are not the creators of this game, but rather the consumers.
I hate using that term, but we didn't make any of levels, voice work, textures, etc. Therefore, we're just along for the ride.

THAT is second-hand sources.
No it isn't. That's a primary source. One culture talking another an aspect or location that's part of its culture is by definition a primary source. Even if it was a cave drawing it would be a primary source.

Yes they were. Humans were late on the scene. Shepard says right in ME3 that some of the issues the various races have with each other are thousands of years old. The Asari were the first in our cycle to use the relays. See where this is going?
