No. Its the point where you're at, after you complete the game, so if you have an finished game save, just start before the assault on Cerberus HQ. If you don't have any save you just will have to get to this point to see what EC add to the game.Snkk2000 wrote...
Sorry if this has been asked already....but what if you don't have save from right before you attack the Cerberus base? You have to play a whole new game up to that point?

All the EC is in the London part of the game though; starting from Cerberus Base just ensures that you have the right amount of EMS to determine the ending. So you can just load up a London file if you're sure it has the EMS you want.

I guess Mass Effect is not suited for people like me anymore. The producer and the writer are comfortable with a shallow over-simplified line of thought that seem to appeal to people like you. May you all live happily ever after, while I search for more complex stories.magnetite wrote...
Given the fact that the Reapers are a hyper advanced machine race that could wipe out everyone in the galaxy with relative ease, I'm not sure what kind of an ending people were expecting. They could make an ending where it makes sense, but to say there's very little casualties wouldn't make sense. The ending is going to be quite dark. It's not one of those happily ever after endings that's for sure.

Damn straight, I'm completely dumbfounded that they would even say that. How could you possibly get anything else but utter chaos from that ending? They see hope for the future of the crew mates. Uh, what crew? They only show Joker and two other squad mates coming out of the normandy at the end. They say no one starves. Well, with no relays and everyone stranded I don't see how that's possible. Sorry Bioware, you continue to spew the bull crap. I'm not buying it. This is your make or break point and honestly I don't think you listened to a damn thing anyone has said and requested.
Huh? Bio says that a couple of things you thought happened in the ending -- all but three people on the Normandy died, people starved -- didn't actually happen. And your response to this is that they're not listening? You're not asking for an EC that shows that everyone on Earth really did starve and all but three people on the Normandy really did die, are you?
What I'm saying is that what we witnessed and what Bioware said their intention for the ending was were two completely different things. I'm not saying I want the EC to show everyone at Earth starving or the Normandy crew dying, but that's how I would interpret the outcome in the end currently. They said the ending left a lot for the player to imagine. My imagination says everyone is screwed.

Anybody planning on starting a new game (me1-->3) if the extended cut somehow turns the tables?

This article pretty much sums up how I think most ppl feel about the EC- http://www.gamefront...t-fix-anything/
This sums up my thoughts pretty much spot-on.
It's not really just about the ending anymore. What I find most frustrating and maddening at the moment is certain people at Bioware. They STILL seem to be clueless about what the complaints are about, or they are just too proud to admit they make mistakes. I get the impression they pick which fans/yes-men they choose to listen to, and ignore the rest. Your ending is logically unsound, Bioware. It's broken. No amount of time to "say goodbye" to your characters is going to fix that. If you can't even admit that fact, I don't see what difference the DLC is going to make.
Even if the DLC would fix the ending (and I'm not holding my breath), it's not going to fix my loss of respect towards the company and certain people working there.

I am pretty certain that would be SO much work and really hard to do, but it would be awesome and I can dream a little can't I? --- at least until Tuesday

No one has been decrying that they want a full blown hapy ending. Alot of people just want an ending they can be happy with.
If there are casualties fine. If there's dead squadmates also fine. No one ****ed as far as I know of Anderson dying.
So true. I was actually *hoping* to have some kind of bad ending. I even wouldn't have been disappointed if the entire galaxy was being wiped out again. I mean, why should our cycle be the one that finally defeats the reapers? It would've been a great experience to see how everything you tried to accomplish wasn't enough in the end. How your numbers decrease with any second, any light of hope slowly fades as you do your best with your comrades. Maybe some last words from Shepard, hoping that everything they've done will at least be of help for future races. Garrus answering "We certainly kicked their asses a lot more than the Protheans, that's for sure". Stuff like that. I don't need everything saved.
What I did expect, was relevance of my choices. That doesn't have to mean that everything turns out great. It would've been enough to have an outro in which you see for example how a future cycle digs out the device from Liara, hearing an explanation of what they have achieved in their cycle thanks to Shepard's efforts. So if you saved the rachni there could be a prototype for a new technology, etc. etc.. Each achievement giving new hope for future races.
However, any additional minute for the endgame is better than nothing. I still hope it will make the whole thing at least a little bit more fitting, even when the starbrat-disappointment remains.

I had planned on doing that anyway. I always do a full runthrough when I get a new DLC (not counting ME3's MP DLC).nav29 wrote...
