I'm trying to remain hopeful that the EC will provide a little closure, but I'm fearful this is just gonna re-open old wounds left from that atrocious final 10 minutes of gameplay.

Just don't make "Destroy" wipe out EDI and the Geth and I'll call it passable (but lazy), Mr Hudson. "Control" and "Synthesis" are non-starters for me.

(Edit:)
Do note I said "gameplay", not "cutscenes". The cutscenes were baffling, but not worse morally or logically than the final decision you're required to make in order to reach the ending of the game.

What if I do not want to reload the save before the Cerberus Base to see The Extended Cut, am I able to Star NG + with My Main/Personal/Number One Shepard/Story and STILL see The Extended Cut? What if I say, "Forgot restarting that Cerberus Base Mission, and seeing the Ending again! I want to start NG + and work my way up to it?"

I'd disagree with mass genocide. I mean the Reapers were destroyed, but everyone else was unharmed. Did anyone not notice the soldiers on the ground who threw their arms in the air when the Reapers were defeated. Joker lived, as well as several others.

Plus Bioware said no one starves to death.

Sometimes the choices that we have to make have some serious consequences.

The Geth don't count? If they don't you're right, it isn't mass genocide and everyone else was unharmed.

Since I say they do after the events of ME3 you just wiped out an entire people in the span of 3 seconds. Nice job.

And Bioware said no one starves to death, this is true. Their reason?

Magical plot armor.

Everyone said people starved to death because they're stuck in Sol with no Relay to get them back to where they need to be and earth not capable of taking in all these aliens, let alone the Turians and Quarians who have to have a completely different branch of food sources.

And yeah, your choices should have consequences, that's the crux of half the argument.  Our choices have none and are reduced to the same cinematic with a different color.

Dextro's with no food source, except for the large collection of giant agricultural vessels the quarians brought to earth with them.

what large collection of giant agricultural vessels are you talking about
there are 3 liveships that produce food for the quarians and they were converted into dreadnaughts

There were several liveships, and the food production function aspect was not lost when they added guns to thme. They just welded dreadnaught sized weapons onto the side, plus EDI and several of the admirals explicitly said that they brought the liveships to rannoch so they could have a steady food supply. The food they produce is dextro food, so turians could eat it too. Also, consider that both the turians and quarians both probably brought rations with them. Then, with the seeds from the liveship crops they might be able to set up bases on some of the other planets or moons in the Sol system and increase production. Since crops carry more than one seed, the only limit to food after a while would be the amount of growing space. Living things will always find a way to survive.

Yes, you could.

Good....but why are people constantly saying that you HAVE to reload the save before the Cerberus Base Mission, that it is "Recommended?"

Me too. So trilogy is over ... lets start a new one with Shepard.
Bond, Bourne and Ryan keep coming back mission after mission.
Star Trek is back with Kirk at the helm.

Because that's the latest point you could start at it you wanted to see all the new content, but didn't want to replay the whole game.

Stop being thick, this has been explained to you multiple times in multiple threads.

@mwags5: One of the problems I have when discussing the endings is that I always end up coming across as more of a defender of the endings than I want to be. I don't think they were good at all -- not as bad as the horrible mess that was KotOR 2, but bad enough.

And even when all of the misinterpretations -- everyone starving, relay explosions killing everyone crew stranded forever on Gilligan's Planet -- go away, there will still be the faction that really doesn't like the logic of the endings anyway, and probably the faction that demands a happier ending than we've got won't be happy either (my bet: you want your little blue babies, you gotta pick Red).

100%

The ending is bad but not because of all the faked up silly things like starvation, the "whole galaxy blows up" logic, the "we're all doomed w/o relays" stuff.  Sadly taking a hammer and driving home that this isn't what happened is what the EC will do. The fact that the logic of the ending is awful won't be fixed.

...and KoTOR2's ending was fine if they'd ever bothered to make KoTOR3.

Got some bad news for ya, then. Got said on twitter yesterday that Destroy once again murders EDI/the Geth. Pretty sure it was Merizan who said it. Sorry. Not really surprised, though. Can't have anything overshadowing the amazing Synthesis option, oh no sir!

She also said that Miranda had an excellent role pre-release.

In literary terms - if you allude to something (you know, like our choices over three games mattering at all) and then you have to EXPLAIN those allusions (you know, like with a 1.9GB EC full of cinematics after the game is released) - you never alluded to anything in the first place.

Sure, we'll get a few minutes of explanatory cut scenes - just so we all 'get' what Messrs. Hudson and Walters 'meant' with the ending originally. Or perhaps what they intended.  We are to use our imagination for the rest.

Sorry, gentlemen (Messrs. Hudson and Walters, that is) - but why would anyone slog through 100 hours of gameplay over three games and who knows how much DLC and repeated play-throughs to have any part of the ending of the trilogy 'left to their imagination'?

Call me a skeptic and a cynic if you will, but I have little hope for this EC. I don't wish to dash anyone's hopes, but in my view the podcast essentially told us nothing will change.

Even if you don't want to believe my take, have a look at what Game Front
http://www.gamefront...t-fix-anything/  thinks of the whole thing.

I'll be looking forward to the community's reaction on Tuesday.

I figured I'd do a run to the beam with EDI in my team and see if she still walks out of the Normandy at the end when I pick the destroy ending, if she does then I'm just gonna pretend that she and the Geth survive, even if it's just a glitch lol.

Because most people are hesitent to play the whole game from scratch just to be disappointed all over again. I think most people who want the EC are likely to start as late in the game as possible so that they can experience the new ending quickly. If it turns out to be saitisfying, I'm sure people will be then more likely to start a second playthrough.

Gaah. I can't say I'm not excited....or that I am. I WANT to believe Bioware did good by us this time, but I'm afraid it's all just going to go to hell.

I was really hoping I would have this announcement sooner so I could go back through the series to connect mistakes. Guess I'll just have to do ME3 again.

They probably have extra scenes that deal with cerberus there.

might as well do it to be safe, as for you going back and fixing mistakes, i try to stand by my choices, when i choose them it is not like i know what the out come will be so even if it was a mistake i stand by it. same with ec, even if destroy was the wrong answer ( NOT THE most happy ending) i will stick by it

Oh man I can't wait to go back to Post-Endings Pre-EC times.
