The ending is bad but not because of all the faked up silly things like starvation, the "whole galaxy blows up" logic, the "we're all doomed w/o relays" stuff.  Sadly taking a hammer and driving home that this isn't what happened is what the EC will do. The fact that the logic of the ending is awful won't be fixed.

...and KoTOR2's ending was fine if they'd ever bothered to make KoTOR3.

I dunno about KotOR 2 being fine. Iit wasn't at all clear to me what my character was trying to do in the endgame, and that's kind of important in an RPG.

I can live with the ME3 endgame's logic, myself; I'm a fan of Fringe, so I swallow nuttier stuff than that all the time. But this is definitely something that they're not even trying to fix. Part of the problem is that Bio's always played fast and loose with whether stuff actually makes sense, which works great until you stop to think. I'm not sure they know how to actually make everything rational.

I'm actually happy about that  - assuming I'm right about Destroy being the only one that leads to little blue babies.

@mwags5: One of the problems I have when discussing the endings is that I always end up coming across as more of a defender of the endings than I want to be. I don't think they were good at all -- not as bad as the horrible mess that was KotOR 2, but bad enough.

And even when all of the misinterpretations -- everyone starving, relay explosions killing everyone crew stranded forever on Gilligan's Planet -- go away, there will still be the faction that really doesn't like the logic of the endings anyway, and probably the faction that demands a happier ending than we've got won't be happy either (my bet: you want your little blue babies, you gotta pick Red).

Hey, I'd love see if Liara ever had any babies down the road after all the times her and Shepard went at it :)  On to my next point though.  One of my biggest beefs with the ending however, is lack of choice when the entire game was centered around the concept of "player choice".  Main reason why I don't have high hopes for the EC is because they took away my character's ability to choose.  Yes they provided the 3 identical color schemes, but let's not get into that again.  Nothing anyone did in all three games leading up to that point have any effect on the outcome.    Bioware says they aren't changing anything which means everything stays the same.  We still don't have choice, which was a major reason people hated the ending.  The only thing I can think of that could possibly save this ending is the Indoctrination Theory.  I don't want to start a debate on that now, but that's my opinion on how this could possibly be salvaged.  Unlikely that's the case however.

The topic does refreshes the frustration I had with the ending last March, reading the lines that it expands the ending rather than have a new conclusion had a taste of disappointment already but will leave judgement until I actually see it for myself. I am already thinking how the three colored endings can be salvaged as it is. Speculating (for the past months) is frustrating.

If this is true then it sucks. The only ending that offers a chance for Sheperd to live is the one that kills allies and friends.

Especially if you chose the Geth or attained Geth/Quarian peace. They finally become truly intelligent only to be discarded mere days later. Strange how they wanted that to be the 'good' choice.

Maybe they'll just explain what actually happened in "the end". Many, including me, weren't sure if the ending actually happened or was just some part of Sheppards'/user imagination. Personally, I cannot buy into any indoctrination theory, as that seems strange, considering the reapers, through the illusive man, reinvented Sheppard for some reason? The illusive man was pretty powerful, but resurection..shrugg? Reapers could jump start a human, what with all those millions of years putting about the MEU, turned out to be some mighty strange guardians/cosmic critters.

It better be worth the 2 hour download.

And the 3 month wait.

Just saying.

I just play another playthrough and I wonder I wait for the DLC? I mean it works this way? Guess I don't reach tthe Cerberus Base attack. I'm at Rannoch right now, I'm guess I won't reach the Cerberus mission till Tuesday.
Oh, and my limited hard drive space ask the DLC will be insta download-install or download the 2 GB then install it? Cause I have roughly 5 GB free space. :(

I don't mind if endings don't look that different from each others : the whole path to them is different and that's what gives each ending its meaning. I can see through red / blue / green lights.

But the whole creature of light stuff, why Shepard buys everything he's said, why the Normandy is seen running from battle... i want to comprehend.

I want my Shepard to be able to go with the thought he's done the right thing, whatever that thing is. I want him to die as Mordin and Legion did. I want him to get into death eyes wide open, knowing what he does, and not vaguely briefed by poorly written deus ex machina, around the last minute of a 180 hour ***ing brillant trilogy.

I hope too that i won't be invited to buy any DLC while i'm mourning my character. For the record, i've bought them all ; just let me enjoy for a moment the illusion i'm told a story away from any mercantile exchange. I hope too that i won't have the pretty disturbing experience to see the game auto load a save after the stargazer speech to take me back before the cerberus attack, seeing my Shepard musing in front of the galaxy map : what the hell !?! The way the game ends, from the giant story holes to the way the whole thing is wrapped up was so bad.

Anyway, and above all, thank you Bioware for this extended cut DLC : whether it indeed gives closure or not, whether it makes sense or not (i cannot see how it could make less sense anyway), that's a pretty big gesture toward people who admire your work. Many thanks for that.

Why? Hard drives are cheap! I've got 4.2TB of storage in this PC.

(Unless it's a laptop, then you're excused; although you could still get an external drive)

I guess I'll add to the list of people expecting to be disappointed again. You know, 2GB is a lot, makes you want to believe, but I feel like I should protect myself from another stab and not get hyped.

I still think the ME series is the best I've ever played, overall. I doubt all this mess will "doom" BioWare forever if it turns out bad, but I'm sure lots of us will think twice at least before we decide to buy another BioWare game.

Only one more day... it totally feels dread.

So far, I've heard an extra ten minutes, no gameplay, and nothing new, just expanding.

I'll reserve judgment on it, but I'm definitely not that excited.

Here's a positive way to look at it: if it's 1.9GB for only 10 minutes of cutscenes, we can hope that means that those 10 minutes are heavily customized based on prior choices. So there's way more content in the DLC, but you'll only get to see 10 minutes of it because it varies wildly based on what you did during the game(s).

Either that, or it's the same 10 minutes in three different colours. Image IPB
