We know that smashing an asteroid into one causes it to detonate. We do not know that having it discharge energy to destroy/control reapers causes it to blow up. Actually, we do know since we see them not blowing up. I still have no idea why 3 months later people seem so dense about this point and determined that there is only one way to blow something up.
This. Ye gods, Carlina -- if the planets are blown up then what's Joker standing on in the last scene?

Incorrect. We know that crashing an astroid into a functioning relay likely results in the destruction of the system in which it resides. Nobody knows what is actually happening when the blast from the crucible sets off the shutdown of the Mass Effect network. One thing for sure is that it isn't an astroid.
You could be right in the end but there's enough wiggle room that it can work.

HOW GOOD IS FRINGE?!
Love it. But it's crammed with space magic. And parallel universe magic. And time travel magic. And just plain weird science magic.
One of the things I've noticed is that people who claim to be bothered by "space magic" and illogic are much more likely to also believe in these wrong interpretations of the ending. (Unlike Sidney, for instance, who doesn't like the logic but doesn't misinterpret stuff either). I don't know which direction the causality runs in, though. Does dislike of the consequences cause you to dislike the logic, or are people who dislike the logic unconsciously drawn to bad and negative interpretations?

Then I listened to the podcast. Damn, really? Casey and Mac really, really seem to have adopted what can only be interpreted as a screw you to some of their most passionate fans. Look, I get that Bioware has repeatedly stressed that the ridiculous ending would stand as is, AND that the EC would only offer cinematics & cutscenes to expand upon what they botched in the first place.
These guys disrespect everybody in the first couple of minutes of that podcast by sticking to their bogus pose that a portion of fandom just didn't get it or had simply become to emotionally invested in the characters of ME - and that that was the crux of the games blowback. These guys should just hold their tongues, I don't wanna resort to profanity or namecalling, but seriously, how many ways can these two men keep spewing vitriolic doublespeak?

Beside the fact that it's too late for a trailer I don't think they will spoiler anything on the Internet. Keep in mind that there may be people that didn't finish the game yet.Bocks wrote...
Will we see a trailer for this DLC?
Anyway I want to trust Bioware, one more time, and in the end who cares, I mean I liked so much this trilogy that I'll be willing to pay in order to continue my Shepard's story

Since they're not going to address the concerns that this faction has, and don't think that the faction is right in the first place... exactly what should they have said? I suppose they could have lied and told them that they thought they were right, but then not addressing their concern would seem just silly.
And some people did simply not get it. See Carlina's post above.

The only real gripe I have after listening to the podcast is the continued use of "artistic integrity" as a defense for the ending. Since when did ripping off an ending from another source constitute artistic integrety. Not sure what I'm talking about? Go watch the last Matrix movie. That having been said I just hope the EC does bring the closure I need. There was a big empty place in my heart where closure should have been.
I think people are jumping to conclusions that are likely unwarranted and seizing on a word or phrase in the podcast as a basis for criticism, just to be critical. As someone who was really disappointed in the original endings (for the reasons acknowledged in the podcast), I am hopeful about the DLC. First, we need to be grateful that the team listened to the community and did something. Many organizations would have simply done nothing at all. In and of itself, that is an important statement that the ME3 team cares about its story and about those of us who love it as much as they do. Second, the fact that you need to start with a save before Priority: Cerberus Headquarters also gives me reason for optimism. One of the things I didn't like about the original ending was the way the conflict with the Illusive Man resolved (or didn't) and I found the whole scene with Shepard and Anderson odd. Allowing that plot line to develop, along with additional scenes that show consequences, allows for the prospect of the player being rewarded for playing the game well and really accomplishing things for his or her Shepard. Being able to see the consequences of a game well played can give a player a sense of accomplishment that I found missing from the original ending, no matter what you did. The absence of emotional payoff coupled with the lack of any certainty about the universe remaining made the original ending disappointing for many, myself included.
Third, I think that the acknowledgement that an abstract "artistic ending" wasn't intended and that such an ending would have been contrary to the rest of the series is important. The story of Shepard was never a Rorschach Test. I'm glad to hear that we will get to live out at least some of the world our Shepards left behind. Finally, I didn't think the series of conversations with my closest teammates before the final conflict was adequate closure. It seems that we'll get to see what happens to them. My Shepard, at least, cared about his team, more than himself. It will be good to watch how they fare in an epilogue.
I'm excited for the DLC. I actually started a new playthrough about a week ago just because I thought this might be coming soon. That worked out perfectly. I was pretty critical of the original ending, but I think we should appreciate how much character it takes to hear criticism and then try to address it. We owe the ME3 team the time to play the new DLC before jumping on them for an effort to address our feedback.
Thanks to everyone who labored on this project to enhance our experience in a great universe.

It better be worth the 2 hour download.
And the 3 month wait.
Just saying.
You need a faster internet connection.
And a bigger file means more content for us. Hard to complain about that.

My issue PuppiesOfDeath2 is that the podcast actually made me worry MORE about the EC. I too just want closure. I'm just worried that my idea of closure and BW's is VERY different. Plus if you read the quote you posted of my post it states that I take issue with the said defense when ripping off someone elses ending. It's two parts Matrix 3 one part Omega Man.
I understand the worry, but I'm think we should see what they've done. I hated Matrix 3. It was awful. No argument there. But I really don't expect something like that. Frankly, I think we will find that, with a good playthrough, your Shepard can "win."

Here's a positive way to look at it: if it's 1.9GB for only 10 minutes of cutscenes, we can hope that means that those 10 minutes are heavily customized based on prior choices. So there's way more content in the DLC, but you'll only get to see 10 minutes of it because it varies wildly based on what you did during the game(s).
Either that, or it's the same 10 minutes in three different colours.
Sorry man but you are wrong. Open your mass effect 3 folder with the video files and look at the folder size, then you will realize why EC weights 2gig... I don't except more than 5min of additional content per each playthrough

Bigger files mean nothing. Witcher 2 EE weights additional 10! Gigs... 9gigs of which are just HD cinematics... as I said, open me3 folder with the videos and look at its sizePuppiesOfDeath2 wrote...
