We know (from Arrival) that blowing a Mass Relay up likely results in destruction of the system in which it resides, so that will cause many planets to be vapourised instantly.

We know that smashing an asteroid into one causes it to detonate. We do not know that having it discharge energy to destroy/control reapers causes it to blow up. Actually, we do know since we see them not blowing up. I still have no idea why 3 months later people seem so dense about this point and determined that there is only one way to blow something up.

That is why I said "likely" and actually we do not see anything after the destruction of the Citadel or the Normandy crash landing.  I rather thought that was the idea of the Extended Cut to clarify what happens afterwards.  Are the relays destroyed or not.  Oh, and calling people dense is rather peurile.

That's a nice evasion except why make the argument when you know it isn't true. It isn't "likely" since we see things not being blown up. Continuing with this line of argument is dense. It is just thehope that repeating something enough makes it true. Again, there are so many lousy things about the ending while minimize the nature of the arguments by making one so obviously false.

Even if the DLC doesnt live up to my expectations i still have a whole new respect for bioware. Unlike other companys they try to fix the ending. And though this has been a long 3 months i belive it will be worth it.

Embrace eternity

Um, both Bethesda (Fallout) and CD Projeckt (Witcher 2) did this. And without insulting the fans and telling them they were dumb in the process.

Really games should be released w/o and ending anymore. Just leave a big TBD thing at the end and then let the fans vote. That way every failed English major on a message board can have their input and then companies can pump out whatever LDC the fan base decides should happen since these are just products to be marketed. Sounds like a great idea.

They blow up in each video, you cant tell me that they dont. when the asteroid hits a Mass Relay, the break causes a mass release in energy. When the beam hits the first one, we see it begin to break up. we can make the logical assumption that if a asteroid impact does not trigger some sort of fail safe to turn the thing off, a massive energy burst would also not trigger a fail safe, and when the Mass Relay began to break up, it would detonate

one can also put forth that a concentrated beam of energy does not have ability to detonate itself to cause a shock wave with enough force to span several clusters (as is seen in the video) and, since we dont see smaller shockwaves of secondary relays going off,  it must be carried on the back of larger shockwave. physics ftw.

Fallout 3 had a good ending. They changed it so that the story could continue with DLC. They dialed down the Witcher 2, so it didn't reach out to me as much. I think for ME3, they tried to cater the story for first time players, but they should've focused on keeping it contiguous. ME 1 and 2 are very cheap now.

by that logic, every sherlock holmes book should have been released without an ending, as shouldcertain peices of artwork, and even some movies (for instance, X-men first class overwrites several parts of the trilogy). hell lets just stick with the original HULK formula. **** the audience.

Artistic integrity can only be held if the art is hated because of the times, like a black person working with whites in the 1700's, but it holds true to the artists ideals. it cannot be held when a major shift is witnessed from one peice to the next, such as all of ME3 upto the citadel, and everything that happens on said citadel. if anything else, this major shift indicates a change in the artists direction, thus a shift from his previous integrity, and is thus subject to his audience. if the audience doesnt like the shift, the artist has two choices. the artist can ignore the audience and look for a new one, or the audience can admit the problem and retcon the offending project or insure further work stays true to the original integrity.  Bioware, i hope follows the latter, and while i do not expect a retcon, i do hope fursther projects stay true to the bioware i knew the first time i played KOTOR, Dragon Age 1, and ME1 and 2, and most of 3 for that matter.

I thought star*** said that the mass relays (the citadel is a relay too), would be "destroyed?"  I just checked youtube; he does!

Edit: changed made up word for actual word.

Quick questions regarding the EC:

- Where exactly should you start your game save for the EC? It said before the Cerberus attack , but I havent played the SP in a while so I dont remember what its supposed to look like.
I guess what I'm asking is what should you see as soon as you load the correct save?

- Also, someone said that the correct save point for the EC to start was automatically created by autosave in the game before the last mission. If this is true then I should be able to pop in Mass Effect and get started with having to load a really old game save, correct?

Thanks

When you load up, you should have one mission.

Priority: Cerberus Headquarters

The game autosaves just before this mission, so if you finished the game, you should simply be able to load up the "Autosave" save file and go for it.

Do you actually understand what the term 'artistic integrity' means? From your meandering post, I'm going to presume not.

OK so we are about to get a new ending that will make single player better, however multiplayer is getting a bit stale. We fight the same enemies all the time, I play Infiltrator and my cloak often doesn't work. So I am discouraged from playing what I wish to play. I don't have much fun with other classes so could we get some playable Protheans? I understand there is only one Prothean in single player but for online surely that could be overlooked. Also Prothean weapons would be cool. Maybe a single player DLC that lets you play as Javik leading up to the point he is put in his life pod.

Yes..now watch them again. Ntoice that in Arrival an asteroid hits a functioning relay - full of nice juicy energy.

Now at the end of ME3, the crucicle causes the relays to fire of their energy in that beam. The loss of power basically causes the relay to collapse.

Again, a full charaged working relay blows up = huge boom. A Spent relay implodes <> big boom. How hard is it to see that? The Codex can only tell us what we know and at the tije of arrival the assumption was, by all known means, destorying a relay was very, very bad but obviously no one knew about a crucible style power release.

more so than you do. the change from ME3 body to the conclusion reeks of budget and time constraints, which is something bioware would have never done in the past. meaning a third party had interest in then releasing by X date, meaning the ending was rush and was changed by the third party. atristic integrity is not something with changing value, its an idea, and the artist does not get to decide with he has integrity or not. that is upto the audeince, and in the case of the ending, the overwhelming majority of players did not like the ending. most of my personal friends who played the game says it feels rushed or that they reall didnt know how to end it and were forced to make an ending before it was ready.

i will readily admit i speak in my previous paragraph as though it was an item, but it the easiest way to get my idea across.

While I appreciate the attempt to address the playing community, I admit to at best cautious optimism.

Quoting the devs and producers is of questionable value since it had been addressed in multiple articles how the previous ending sequence did not appear to match the aforementioned quoted promises by the same.

Still keeping my fingers crossed for this one :)
