When Leliana explains her vision she explains she had a dream of a darkness consuming the land, and figured it was a messege from the Maker about the Blight. Now in the Magi Origin story you meet Eleni Zinovia, a woman turned into stone centuries ago, and she was once someone important in the Tevinter Imperium. And she too could have visions (not sure if it is actually visions) so she could forsee certain events. She also talks about a shadow consuming "The prison is breached. I see the encroaching darkness. The... the shadow will consume all..."

My thoughts are they are relating to what's going to happen in DA3. SUPER EXCITED NOW!

If you know more information, please express it.

I always assumed that Leliana lied to make her ways into the Warden's group. To me, she never had this vision.

Interesting! Could she be talking about the Veil tearing open? Could the prison be Aeonar? The Chantry deliberately uses it because the Veil is so thin and fragile there.

And this prison is a secret known only to a handful of Templars.  Maybe those templars are actually Seekers?  It seems this place could become a quest in the next game, whereas we might be returning to Fereldan.  Maybe the Warden will make an appearance on this quest?

I'd like to finally see Aeonar, as it seems like an interesting place to visit.

I don't think that Leliana lied about her vision, but maybe she read too much into her dream. She did mention that she was bored as a chantry sister, so who knows?

It could be that the vision and/or Zinovia's prophecy are related, in some manner, to the events at the end of the Legacy DLC (if not the exact events, something similar). Or even to the prophecy uttered by one of the NPCs in DA2. There are some common elements present, but such is the way of hazy glimpses into the future.

All of that delves into heavy spoiler territory however.

I always interpreted Zinovia's prophecy as describing The Fade merging with Thedas (and the rest of the world).

I don't think Leliana's dream is related.

Ooh, that's true - I'd forgotten about the "prison" in the Legacy DLC, though that crisis is thankfully averted. Which makes me wonder if there are other similar prisons scattered about Thedas...

Good thinking, whykikyouwhy! Posted Image

But is that crisis averted?  Whichever warden you support going into the final battle always came off as a bit  -  suspicious when you finish fighting the end boss.  Perhaps they are no longer who they claim to be...
Thats my take on it anyway

That was my take on the matter as well. Suspicion was certainly sparked.

So too, that DLC dealt with two potential things that could be prophecy related (the main quest entity, and then a quest related exclusively to the location). And of those two, the main one has additional implications based on who he was and what group he represented.

Agreed. She never takes Holy Vows, wears a Seeker's Amulet when you meet her, wants to accompany you no matter what (even going so far as to show up outside of town if you tell her no), falls in love with you almost regardless of what you do, and after traveling with you, is welcomed back as a high ranking Seeker. If someone did have a vision, I doubt it was her. Perhaps a Chantry Sister or Mage had it. I agree that it will have something to do with Aeonar and, perhaps, the Black City.

Yes who is the he that sandal mentions in his prophecy? And is he parting the shadows that Is setting the darkness that will consume all?

Whoever/whatever he/it is, it sounds like it includes a lot of darkness LOL! Might have something to do with the Black City, that place is dark right?

Eh. I believe she had the dream. I even believe she saw the rose. I also believe that she decided to interpret it as a Sign from the Maker because the Lothering Chantry was slowly crushing her with its drab tedium, even if she didn't want to admit it to herself.

I think she made herself believe that a weird dream combined with a coincedence (though not much of one) qualified as a Vision.

There's an old Templar in Denerim Market in DA:O
that talk of a darkness consuming all and then the sky parting over it
and the sun shining through. It's closer to what Sandal says, but we
never hear Eleni full "prophecy" about the darkness. Which mean it's probably all related: darkness, prison and sky parting.

This is how I interpret it:
  • An entity was trapped in a prison inside the Fade (the Black City)
  • Darkness come (aka the Blight(s), say Hi to Corypheus too)
  • Sky parting = Veil shatterring and the entity fully escaping.
All this is based on my gut feeling that the "Old God" who tricked the Magister was actualy the entity trapped in the Black City trying to escape. It use the taint as a mean to control creatures in the "real world" and needed somebody to bring it there. It is also possible that this entity started the Maker's belief to hide his existence, be seen as a savior once he came back and because he needed somebody to free him. Lucky for us Andraste failed.

My other gut feeling is that Flemeth knows all of this...

Anyhow it's fun to speculate.

Just thought I'd add a few quotes I've collected:

Morrigan "I thought I knew what Flemeth planned. I thought what she craved was immortality. And yet I was wrong. So very wrong. She is no blood mage, no abomination... She is not even truly human. The ritual was but a means to an end, a herald for what is to come."

- That last line always gives me the shivers, I don't know why, there's something deliciously ominous about it but since I'm terrible with speculation someone else can sink their teeth into it, there's also:

Morrigan "Change is coming to the world. Many fear change and will fight it with every fiber of their being. But sometimes change is what they need most. Sometimes change is what sets them free."

Eleni Zinovia (Statue) "Weep not for me, child. Stone they made me and stone I am, eternal and unfeeling. And thus shall I endure 'til the Maker returns to light their fires again."

- I wouldn't mind knowing who she is referring to in this, it's probably obvious but given it's midnight and I'm fighting a cold I haven't thought of anything. Tevinter magisters perhaps? I wouldn't mind seeing them set on fire really...

Oh and azarhal that theory actually seems legitimate, but my grasp on DA's lore is tenuous at best though so my vote of confidence isn't worth much. Still exciting all the same :)
