I've said it before and I'll say it again: no amount of "clarification" can make me accept an ending in which Shepard is forced to follow the orders of one of the most evil entities ever created in fiction without even disputing his faulty logic.

I'll just watch the EC on youtube. Meanwhile, on the same day it's released, I'll be tearing up Skyrim as a non-glittering vampire.

This Except im All over Witcher 2 these days. And it rules i just hope in the end i dont get 3 choices that end in the same result and that The Witcher doesnt end up dying but at the same time destroying all that we care about B/C he decides to follow the orders of the main bad guy who was introduced in the last 5 min...  Then i get told that im too Stupid to understand the great artistry of the ending and CDProjekt releases EC "clarifying" the End for me B/C im so stupid i cant grasp the wonderful ending... But as i said in the other thread: This has all been said before... And it will be said again... (Cue Bear McCreays "All Along the Watchtower")

RIP xbox long live next gen or PC

You can buy games for download that are large, fullsize
and size means nothing but some can compress better than others...aka, skyrim

I'll compare the EC with my best-case scenario. I'll appreciate any added closure, but....if there's no exposition added in the Catalyst dialogue, then the ending is still an overall failure.

Oh, it will be. Anything that maintains the nonsensical plot line. I fully expect the EC to actually increase the number of huge plot holes. See the discussion already generated based on one of the images showing Hackett ordering Joker to move because "the Catalyst is firing" - the time between Shepard choosing a color and Hackett recognizing what is going on, issuing an order, the Normandy doing whatever it needs to to get to FTL... ugh. So many problems just in one image already. Not even getting into using FTL in the solar system...

This was mentioned above by another poster, but I'll repeat it, no matter how you feel towards the ending, whether you are a pro-ender or anti-suicide-kill-off-Shepard-wtf-is-this-crap camp, watch the podcast.

Mr Hudson, you sir, really, really need to know when to keep your mouth shut.
Just watch the dammed thing.

Like puking on a pile of sh**. Spacekid is still there, circular logic, you'll see in 4 days. Unfixable.

I will be sure to DL it anyway even though I returned my ME3 to Amazon for a refund.  The more DL's I believe the more MS charges EA/Bioware.  Got to hit em where it hurts.

That podcast is disgusting to listen to.  They clearly are not sane.

Quote from the interviewer.

"When I played it didn't, it really, drove home the fact that, that last choice, wasn't setting me up for a certain ending. It was setting me up for my final decision, and the ending that I got was reflective of all of my experiences. Whether I played, just Mass Effect 3 or rather I played the entire trilogy......."

I've been listening to that interview, this section in particular, both before and after it was said for context, and I hope she was talking about playing the ECLDC. I don't know if my experience with the original ending was met with the same outlook as every other Shepard out there. But the ending I got certainly was not the ending she was talking about.

I can not, for the life of me, see how the orignal ending brings together, not only all past choices, but the multiude of experiences that ame with ME1, 2 and 3.

Most notibly I didn't see any Rachni chewing their way through Mauradur's, nor Asari commando's twisting brutes tiny heads off with a biotic flick of the wrist. Nor Geth showing how an extreme halo jump is done and neither did I see any of my EMS giving me an edge in the coming fights.

It was clever however to use the term experiences, as experiences gave her statement a completely different spin than if she had said 'choice's' instead. I.e. My choice to unite the Quarian and Geth was not reflected in the gameplay and/or cutscenes of the ending, but the experience of uniting them can be argued as having had effect as the Cat's remark about destroying them could hit home if the Geth remain alive in a playthrough.

Anyhow's I'll reserve judgement and see how BW have chosen to carry forward their vision. Batter up on Tuesday!

So, it really is going to be an Extended Cut. Same nonsensical crap, just more of it. We still have:

1. Weird Starchild, who's faulty logic you can't dispute.
2. Mass relays exploding, leaving a MASSIVE multi-alien fleet stranded on Earth, making a massacre inevitable

I assume the Normandy crashing, disappearance of squad members, same ending cutscene except for different colours will all be fixed due to added cutscenes. But we still have the problems mentioned above.

I assume the 'Destroy' ending will still involve killing all artificial intelligence, not just the Reapers... which will make three games worth of hard work all mean nothing.

I'm not thanking anyone before I haven't seen the content. Not buying the cat in the sack again.

This. It seems a lot of people are allowing themselves to get excited though. I wont be making that mistake twice

I can't speak for others but that's not what I'm thanking Bioware for. They're giving us 1.9 gigs of free stuff because we weren't satisfied with product when they could have left the ending as it was. I don't know if the EC will fix or address all my issues but I do appreciate the effort at least.

That was an interesting interview.

On a personal level, I take issue with the implication that those who didn't care for the ending of simply not being able to let go.  As a voracious reader of book series, formerly a voracious watcher of tv series, and an avid player of games series, I can honestly say in my 40 years, I've never had anything leave me with such a hollow, empty feeling inside as the ending to this series.

On a more global level, I resent the implication that anyone who didn't care for the ending lacked imagination.

My big issue is that having completed the story, according to the 'buy DLC' popup, I've 'ended the reaper threat', and have technically won.  Yet I'm left feeling that I've lost the game more profoundly than if the reapers had actually won.

If the Dev team actually manages to fix that last point, I will be more than happy to call this DLC a success.

In any case, I also don't want to leave any doubt -- I appreciate the effort.

Well I can't wait to try the E.C.. I left a comment under the podcast on youtube. it's located somewhere in the sea of trolls. So I'll just say it again here: I would like to thank Bioware/EA for at least trying to address some of the issues fans had with the ending.

I wonder if the difference might be paid versus free DLC?  In other words, DLC where the console vendor (XBox or PS3) doesn't get a cut of anything.

Third party is always an issue. I never was a fan of Origin, but if I have to choose between PSN (or whatever they'll be calling it) / XBL and it, I'll always pick PC. Computers can take it, they're like a Trans-Am: if doesn't start, hit it with the hammer and you're set. But when consoles crack, they become expensive bricks. At least this is me. I ow one console, but if a game is available on PC, I prefer to play it on my PC. It has better everything.
But let's get to where we were... We know what you mean, we know BioWare is doing this for us, for free, but it's also for them (you... i don't know). I'm one of those that believe in games as an art form, as an artistic expression. And we are the ones that stand here in front of art, not judging it or the creator, we enjoy art, we admire art. We despite lazy unsightliness and we embrace the tastefull vision of chaos as much as the beauty of Gods. "Embrace the fear! Dance with me, Lois. Dance the dance of life!"

I'm a little surprised by the DLC size. 1.9 gb for "cut scenes and dialogues", it's twice the size of "standard" dlc with actual gameplay, cut scenes and dialogue.
Anyway I'm not complaining, the more we get the better.

Silasqtx wrote...

The "FAQ" on BW blog states you have to load a save before the assault on Cerberus base(since spoilers are allowed on this forum)  for a full experience; thus I doubt the cut scenes will be added throughout the whole game.
Just my guess, though.

Personally I still hope in a chance to save both Shepard and the Geth (starchild was wrong on Sheprd's cybernetic implants so he may be wrong about Geth too) but I know I shouldn't count on it. Image IPB

Not to Mention they are calling ANYONE who didnt like the ending stupid without actually outright saying it . I get it i just dont like it its lazy writing and not thematically in line with the ME universe. Further Explanation and a few cutscenes will not make that turd suddenly smell good. They would have to eliminate everything from the Jump into Sol system on and redo it to make it in line with previous MEs . Not to mention the majority of ppl, like the end or not, WANTED to see their WarAssets in action... i was so pupmed to sse Krogans crushing fools and Asari Squads slicing thru reaper cannon fodder and Geths Raining from the sky like Astartes Drop pods... it culd have been soo sweet....
