It's okay nobody will starve because Mac Walters says so.
Apparently author's fiat is also now part of the "artistic statement".

Why don't they just show everyone slaughtered in the EC and then tweet, "They didn't really die!"

Great to see people talking about how bad the EC is and the EC hasn't even released and doing speculations from a single screenshot of the entire EC. People can't even wait four days to download and play the EC and give their opinion of the EC.

I know right?!

People, just wait till the EC comes out. Keep CALM and have a warm glass of milk in the meantime.

Just wait until Tuesday.  The drama queens will be downright entertaining.

So will your blind defence.

I hope harbinger farts on the part of London you are from.

Well, Hackett says to get to the rendezvous point. Meaning the whole damn fleet's meeting on planet jungle. Logic would say as much, anyways.

If that is correct and the entire fleet, not just the Normandy, were to crash on Eden, than none of them are going anywhere real soon.

Well now that makes it even better. I mean on Earth there would presumably still be some food stores, medical supplies, and abandoned technology to scavenge, but now they literally have no planet-side resources to work with aside from local flora and fauna.

It's okay nobody will starve because Mac Walters says so.

What?  They're all synthesized so they can eat circuit leaves just fine.  It's funny because writers of fiction get to fiat things; it's one of the things that distinguishes fiction from non-fiction.

You can clarify nonsense all you want but it won't change what it is.
If I'm honest, I wasn't going to be satisfied with anything other than a complete re-write and removal of the comical starchild.
The fact that I was happy for them to utilise the 'it was all a dream' trick is a sign of how much more I care about their story than they do.

The true ending for the Mass Effect trilogy for me still remains the indoctrination theory:

I'll watch Bioware's effort on youtube for kicks but this develolper has lost all credibility for me.
The podcast was interesting though.
I was surprised they never even brought up the starchild, right up until I remembered the plants in the audience for their 10mins of a 1hr Q&A.

I won't be purchasing any new games from this developer until (i) I see the reviews, and (ii) it's a closed story and won't span three games only to ****** it all away at the end.

In the end the most that they've potentially lost from me is a pre-order, but I don't see the reason why they would risk this in the first place.

a) So what happens in non-synthesis? Tunnel-vision much?

B) How do you know that? You're just assuming. I am tired of you presenting fan fiction as fact.

c) No, to fiat things in spite of what occurs in the story is what distinguishes bad fiction from fiction.

You are the one that started spamming my inbox.  I would have blocked you to but the thing doesn't let us block people that have already blocked us since you have to go into their profile to block them.  Besides you have shown your fair share of hostility towards me.  And the Harbinger farting on London comment was hardly hostile.  Immature? Yes, but not hostile.

Angry One and others, you have seen a screenshot without the full context that goes on with that screenshot. There is more content around that shot not included.

While I understand you are guarded about what the EC will be, I do suggest until you play it or experience it in the full before you talk about how bad it is. If, having doe so, it still does not meet your expectations or it does (because they are negative and you believe we do not fix the issue) THEN complain about it.

No.

BioWare hasn't earned that right. In fact you've practically made ever effort to insult and alienate your most loyal fans, so there is no reason for us to trust you at all about the EC.

Everyone made it abundantly clear that you needed to change the endings and you didn't. And all you've ever done since is blame the fans for failing to understand the ending rather then admit to the level of crap that you all shoveled out.

Sorry, you don't get that level of respect, you have to earn it back.

A) They all starve or don't; we'll see what the writers wrote, won't we?  Since I will only pick synthesis, I didn't care about the other endings.

B) I don't know.  I made it up.  Which was the point; it's all made up.  Whatever reason gets popped out in the EC, if any, is then canon and debate is complete.  If none, well the writer can have his intention but then the result isn't canon, it simply doesn't exist.

C) The entire ME universe is fiat from the creation of magic eezo to the mass effect to future human history to some socialist ethics that the Salarian spouts in Huerta Memorial to the nonsense reasons why giant Reapers wouldn't be at a massive disadvantage in a war where it is easy to accelerate objects to lightspeed.  You can like it or not, it can be internally consistent or not, it can accurately reflect some state of affairs in the world or not, but this futile struggle against extant fiction is really strange IMO.

No, IT was an interesting and unsubstantiated idea that was simply incoherent with what they happened to write and intend for the story to be.  I am sure the writers and producers got it.

Why are people throwing a hissy fit over the fleet taking two steps away from an armed machine which they believe will fire and kill ALL the reapers instantly? They had no idea what it would do, and I certainly wouldn't want to be next to that; if its that strong while would they sacrifice themselves like idiots when they can just move and come back?

Then your argument is invalid.

Absurdity. I'm not even going to respond to this. It's utter nonsense. I can't believe there are people out there who even think like this.

Declaring something to be so out of universe in spite of what happens in universe is author's fiat, and is completely wrong. Don't try and dump pseudo-philosophy on me.
Events in a story must logically flow from other events. There are rules and guidelines to do this. Lore by twitter is not one of them.

Yes.  Decided to never actually start a dialog with fans in order to clear the air.  That is what companies do.  I've worked in customer service.  I own my own business.  You have an unhappy customer you talk to them and start a conversation.  You don't let them be insulted by others and you do not insult them.  You apologize.  You ask them how you can make it all better.  And then you tell them what you can and cannot do to make things right.  You want to keep them as customers, above all you show them a modicum of decency and respect-by talking to them.

You indicate that you have understood the problem as they see it even if you do not agree with their assessment.  And even in saying "no" to their requests you can make a friend and gain a customer or at least gain someone that will not talk bad about your company.  That is what true Customer Service is and it is sorely lacking at Bioware.  And I don't consider going to comic conventions or E3 and talking to the few that show up there as a conversation.

The complaints you now see are the direct result of the podcast on the EC which does not seem to indicate any understanding of the complaints about the ending.  In fact, many things said were mere rehashes of what's already  been said it would contain.  One of the worst statements is the inference that people were merely upset because the story arc was coming to an end.  No.  That was one of the main reasons the ending and the EC now should have been well thought out and dealt with the story at hand and not roamed about with bits and pieces of other games and stories.  The podcast made things worse.  You "guys" seriously could use someone adept at Customer Service, someone who actually knows how to discuss things with customers.

Yes, as customers we should be perhaps more polite at times, but...ever get the silent treatment from anyone?  Know how that feels?  We've been dealing with a company adept in the silent treatment with a dash of insult thrown in for good measure.

We don't know what the EC will contain and I will be the first (or try to be) to eat my words if it's great, but the podcast killed most of my hopes.

I loved ME.  I accepted all the warts because the rest of the stuff was just so good.  I really want to like ME3 totally and in many ways the ending killed all that-since it hasn't really been changed (CH's words), I have a hard time imagining I'll like it.  But, unlike some other people, I can apologize when I'm wrong or I do something offensive.
