I am tired. This has been a tragedy. To imagine that Mass Effect 3 could have been their (Casey Hudson and Mac Walters) finest hour. That they could be strolling down the red carpet straight into every GOTY award by the end of the year. And here we are. ME3 has become a punchline in the gaming industry, and the whole public relations process a demonstration of everything that can be done wrong when dealing with your audience. The EMS issue is the perfect example.
They'll still get plenty of GOTY awards by the gaming press, and I'm sure every single one of them will include little digs at "entitled" gamers and the "controversy" surrounding the ending.

If the gaming press wants to be nothing more than a circlejerk, they're more than welcome to it. Just don't expect me to give a hoot about anything written by these supposed "journalists" anymore.
Other than heralding the end of Bioware's status as a producer of quality stories, ME3 has also demonstrated that game journalism is nothing but a childish joke.

That was a very vague way of saying 'we finally fixed the issue where you have to play MP to get the best SP result'
They fixed the need to play multiplayer, but they did NOT fix the need to have a broadband connection, since you still need to download the patch, and this screws the less afluent console owner. Complete Product out of the box? Nope!

Will the patch come with the EC? is EMS fixed to a minimum of 4000? do we still need MP to boost it? then how it's been fixed?

Given that you're clearly an expert and demanding master of lack of grace, I for one will pardon them for not living up to your standard, and thank them for not approaching your example.Lalalandia wrote...

No. The dismissive attitude and denial of the issue for weeks on end combined with a mealy mouthed 'we fixed what wasn't an issue in the first place' attitude that the OP represents mean we are not cool. I appreciate you fixing the issue but this continual lack of grace in conceding it was an issue in the first place still sticks in my throat.

Who needs a broadband connection? I'll dial-in with my 500k internet key and enjoy my 12 hours of download while I do something else.

Is it just me or isn't the multiplayer fun and easy enough to outweigh a player's aversion to standard multiplayer games? Its not my usual fare, but it is a great addition to the game. The multiplayer gives you a chance to step out of Shepard's N7 shoes and into a grunt's boots. I know some people think that the "Best Possible Ending" is difficult to get without Multiplayer, but its getting the best possible ending should be difficult. I mean my War Assets in my 5 careers are all over 5,000 before Multiplayer, and let me tell you it's not easy. I think a EMS overhaul is not necessary.
You're probably the 10.000th person making a comment like this. Please, stop it, it's getting tiring to explain every single time that wether the multiplayer is fun or not, is not the issue at hand. Making singleplayer content exclusive for those who play multiplayer or use the smartphone apps, is wrong and not only that, they lied about it at the announcement of multiplayer and they continued to lie about it for more than 3 months.
And no, you didn't have an EMS over 5.000 in your games without any multiplayer, it has been proven time and time again there are not enough war assets in the game. Stop it.

I like Mass Effect Multiplayer a lot. It's just that RPGs and Multiplayer shooting games are very different and they shouldn't be interthwined like BioWare did, because players who loved the game in the past usually are not MP games users.
So it was ok to keep the "best possible ending" (which for now consinst in Shepard taking a breath, and that's not much, but this is another topic) out of reach, but not forcing people to play "another game". It's like Dead Space asking you to play Battlefield or Ellie dies during the ending. It does not make sense.

This isn't the real problem here. They guaranteed us that we would be able to get all the endings using singleplayer before the release of the game. As you can read from Christ Priestly's post, they're now essentially saying that they lied to us, and that MP or iOS apps were in fact necesarry to get certain endings. This is not an acceptable business practice. This is very much an example of bait and switch. They tell us "oh but of course you don't have to play MP or buy iOS apps to get all the endings" before we buy the game, and afterwards it turned out that they lied. And now they just flat out admit it, without even so much as an apology. You can say "oh but the multiplayer isn't all that bad.." but that's not an excuse for what Bioware did here.ajaxbr wrote...

I truly wish BW had offered me a chance to demonstrate my command of grace. A simple 'Woops we screwed up and with the post release rush, we left our answers down the back of the couch, on post release break, blah blah, yakkity shmackity' and I would have been happy with that. Instead we get a vaguely worded attempt to negate statements made by the devs themselves that all content would be available to those who only played SP. I don't hate the existence of MP or iOS apps or FB apps or whatever, it's being misled as to their necessity to access all of the game content I've already bought I object to.

No, this isn't cool considering this should have been implemented the first time around instead of screwing us around for three months with a purposefully designed system with inherent flaws.
The very fact you people thought we would appreciate having multiplayer intertwined with the single player is telling. The very fact you people thought it would be a reward to play both multiplayer AND single player to see the best ending is insulting.

Could be I’d enjoy it. I usually don’t, but I might.
It’s too bad we’ll never find out because, since BioWare keeps lying to me, I will never touch MP.

Its a one time download to fix a problem with the initial release. So yes, cool.
Dude isn't asking you to forgive all people, he's letting you know you don't have to grind GR.

What mild entertainment it brings from the combat is instantly nullified by the fact that the maps, gameplay, and combat is repetetive and monotonous, as well as the fact that it is inherently bugged.

Its boring for MP, but to each his own.
As pointed out, that was never the issue.
Also as pointed out, you didn't have 5000 EMS, it's not possible without apps or MP.

This is how my brain translates this:
"Fine, we fixed something - I'm not telling what this means, because we like speculations here - so now shut up and go away."

Exactly. Why do people who don't care about this issue come into these kinds of threads anyway? I don't get it.
