You know what, I AM going to dig up the quotes, just to show what Bioware has done here:

Bioware statements before release of ME3:

How do SP and MP work together/complement each other?

They complement each other really well in that the Galaxy at War System
takes the actions played in MP and pushes them to your SP achievements.
The SP elements will dovetail really nicely into those and both those
actions will allow your Shepard to have a different ending depending on
those actions. That said, SP can still be played all by itself without
any kind of multiplayer or third party and you can still get the
absolute best ending.
This just gives you new options to be able to get
that ending
.

You can get the best possible outcome in the game by
just playing single player if you want, as long as you are willing to do
a lot of the side missions and content.

you can play the game how you want and not be
negatively punished if you don’t want to play multiplayer or don’t own
any iOS devices.

And now Chris Priestly posts this:

The original experience of the game was meant to reward players who did
extra work (multiplayer, importing a save, playing the iOS games, etc)
with greater levels of success in the end

Conclusion: they lied and Bioware doesn't have the decency to admit it: There's no debate here.

Not only that but now it's presented as if it was always the case that you had to do MP to get all the content in your SP game and people who only do SP are just lazy bums.

Less lazy, more cheap. Remember, they want to make LOTS of money off the bland MP mode, or the stupid iOS stuff,  so they have to force us to play it somehow. I won't though! You hear me!  I'M NOT PLAYING ME3 MP NOR DO I OWN AN SMARTPHONE!

But now, post-launch, please continue to do the extra work and play *more* multiplayer or iOS, even though you quit them long ago, dropping your galactic readiness back down to 50%, waiting for the EC.  Hey, nothing in life is free, right?  (We did say the EC is at "no extra charge," not "free"!  *wink*)

Pretty much. I'm disgusted by this. It's obvious all of this was intended, and now they're actually suggesting there wasn't even a problem in the first place. The real problem here wasn't getting the best ending, it's about them flat out lying to us. If they told us it was a bug, I may have given them the benefit of the doubt, even though it was far too obvious it was intended. But this really takes it to another level.

Actually, -Draikin-, Bioware never said 'all', just 'best' and you and Bioware simply have a different definition of 'best'. From what I can see, Bioware sincerely believes that the Synthesis ending is the best. Shepard-takes-a-breath is just flavor, to them. Obviously, to you, Shep having a chance of still being alive is 'best'.

"Of course you don’t have to
play multiplayer, you can choose to play all the side-quests in
single-player and do all that stuff you’ll still get all the same
endings and same information, it’s just a totally different way of
playing."

The original experience of the game was meant to reward players who did extra work (multiplayer, importing a save, playing the iOS games, etc) with greater levels of success in the end, which is appropriate to a story about a war that needs every possible advantage in order to win.

Oh! OK, so the marketing was just a lie. Good thing that’s clear now.

And solved. Maybe. I’ll be over here with Gibbed…

What I really dislike is the sly suggestion that if I wasn't an Xbox live subscriber and didn't own an iDevice I should go out and buy one to help the 'war' effort.

They might be a bit swamped right now. With the announcement, the forum has gone into overdrive. I think the mods are working overtime.

This is a sticky topic and a very hot question. Actually the fact that there is no response does imply that they don't have one.

Do I really need to find the quote where they said we could maximize EMS with singleplayer only? Because I will if you insist.

EDIT: thanks, coolbeans, it appears I won't have to find that quote.

Indeed.

I can't get Weapon Mods (say... SMG Ultralight Materials 1 ), and reporting it to EA, they said to post it here.  Every post I made got ignored.  ANd there IS a post in the Tech help.

Actually, it implies that their answer is, "Screw you, you still have to play multiplayer to get the best ending, but it's fun jerking you around with vague answers just to watch you all make assumptions that we are finally giving you what we should've given you all along. Ha ha!!"

I only every saw 'best' -Draikin-. And, even then I was thinking 'Oh holy hockey sticks, Self, that's gonna put the cat among the pigeons."

And now I have seen ONE quote that suggests otherwise, which could easily be explained away with 'Sorry, I misspoke'.

Why?

Why can’t you just say ‘we messed up, sorry, we fixed the SP issue now’. You didn’t need to even go into detail.

But no…lies is what we get. Either Chris is lying now, or everyone was lying before launch. As has been proven just above, for example.

Seriously, sometimes it seems as if the PR doesn’t understand that all of these statements they made are on record somewhere, and will be brought up.

Ah but as Chris says the Tech help is for gamers to help gamers, not for bioware to help them

I mean it would have saved four pages of posts if CP had just posted this:

not really a quote...

For SP, the EC has addressed the EMS issue by (raising the minimum galactic readiness to 55%  /  lowering the required EMS for the various endings by XXXX points) so that people who do not play multi-player, or have iOS or FB can get all the endings.

That would have reduced the amount of work needed to be done by the mods right now. But we get yet another cryptic message.

Yep, Bioware, people have learned their lesson with your blatant lies. Now, vague statements won't get you anywhere. Don't expect we say thank you without true answers.

Mmm... Can we gib the save files to increase EMS ? I'm not doing multiplayer or spending hours in a game that killed my LI just to see a happy ending.

I guess I'm just an old-timer, a gamer who needs to be put out to pasture because he doesn't get that gaming has passed him by. Gaming today is truly about MP and social networking, not us lonely guys who still play games for the characters and the story. "I vant to be alone."

Additionally, the official FAQ even now claims that the entire Galaxy at War system serves only as an alternative to single-player progression. Which is absolutely untrue in this case: Galaxy at War is a requisite, and always has been.

No, it's not appropriate. Not everyone loves the MP and those people shouldn't be punished for not spending BioWare points on meaningless randon items in the MP (that's the whole point of making the MP be the biggest factor to achieve a high EMS, right?).

The appropriate thing would be the MP being a plus for the people who missed or simply didn't want to do a few side-quests, which is what we were promised (and lied to) in the first place. Fix the SP so that we can achieve the 5000 EMS with Galactic Readiness at 50%.

You can increase war asset values in Gibbed. I just set the Normandy to 4000 and call it good.

(Edit: if you wanted to ‘play fair’, you could calculate the actual difference you’re losing because of GR and adding that instead, but I really just don’t care. I got there.)
