It is a shame she didn't have grandsons riding that bus.
She said in an interview that her son committed suicide years ago. Those kiddies told her to kill herself among other things.
I just read that in a local newspaper today. When I first watched the video I had no idea that the kids were actually poking fun at the suicide of one of her children. I had just assumed it was another lame insult, much like the 'fat' and 'poor' cracks.
To me that just really hit home that it wasn't just a case of stupid kids doing a really dumb thing. I'm sorry, but you have to be a vile, bottom-dwelling sociopath completely lacking in empathy, to even consider mocking the fact that a relative of the person you are bullying had committed suicide. That is quite a few notches worse than calling someone fat or poor. It is completely beyond the pale.

Is it really this bad in most places? I'm glad I never saw anything like this growing up. I've seen a fair share of disrespect toward elders and staff of the education system (though not to this degree and out of cruelty) and it was always promptly dealt with.
Where the hell did you grow up? This is pretty mild teasing.

I wouldn't call telling someone their family committing suicide is because they don't want to be around them is mild when a family member did committ suicide.

Of course, this is the same reason trolls exist, the sense of anonymous "carte blanche." So it's funny that the internet has actually come to the lady's rescue in this case, with an anonymous windfall, rather than be the facilitator for this sort of bullying.
They're not young enough that they can't be blamed, but part of the blame has to go to the parents for failing to teach them a morality that isn't contingent on a fear of punishment to be followed, assuming my suspicion has any merit. Otherwise, they're simply vile little cretins who have terrible parents who failed to teach them morality, period.

It's better than be killed for holding you brother which other people took as them being a gay couple. This is definitely mild compared to what other stuff have happened around my area.

I don't know if the kids knew that. When I was still in highschool(2 years ago) telling someone to kill themselves or that their loved ones should kill themselves was pretty mild. It is just name-calling after all. It isn't like they bashed her head with something(happened to a friend), slashed her tires(happened to me). That **** is a lot worse than having some white kids **** at you for 10 minutes.

Are you saying that my high school experience wasn't the real world because I only had one death threat and the bullys ONLY kicked me in the nuts a few times?

Three years ago, used to ride a bus which passed by the kid's school and when he went onboard, he started screaming extremely loudly at another kid and reached into his backpack for the knife. Other guy thankfully took it away from him, which caused the kid to scream even louder. Dropped him off at his school, which prompted the parents to yell severely at the bus driver the next day.

Apparently it's only the real world if it's comparable to the worst thing a given person has ever seen happen, otherwise it's all perfectly acceptable behavior because it's not like there are degrees of douchebaggery or anything.
Douchebaggery is unacceptable in general, though there's some times where things are common-place enough that you can't understand why everybody else is flabbergasted that it occurs, let alone donate so much money towards it.
What occured to this woman is common-place in every school (except college) I've been to, yet I see no controversey about that.

RIGHT? It seems I should've given that kid the benefit of the doubt when he pulled out a knife on me in class that one time. Instead of go to the police about it I should've understood that some schools have it worse and that was mild.

Because it's true.
The town is mostly white, median income is higher than the national average, and % living below the poverty line is lower than the national average.
Is what I've said any less true? I got the **** beat out of me 4 times in highschool, nobody posted a video and donated 600k to me.

No. I'm saying that donating 600k to an old lady for taking 10 minutes of verbal abuse is ridiculous. Much worse **** happens to people and they don't get a fraction of what she got.

I was lucky that the bullys never actually beat me up though they did kick me in my manhood a few times (everyone got a kick out of it) My friend had it worse. They actually did beat him up but he got tough and broke a kids collar bone. I wasn't there to witness it but no one touched him since. My friend had the worst at my school and he didn't take crap from anyone. Hell even playing around with him might get a punch and they hurt even when he's holding back. Now looking back it was stupid kids being stupid and as far as I know he still keeps in touch with these people we're adults and we know we did stupid things back then.
I'm aware that I had it mild but that doesn't make any of it right.
