Well.. yesterday I drank 12 beers and half a bottle of wine before I almost decided to replay ME3... but then I figured that drinking some more wine and not playing it would be more fun.

I deleted my ME3 saves aswell as the game after playing through it, and instead of replaying it I figure it will be less painfull to just watch the EC on youtube.

The plan is quite simple, really. I'll head to the local grocery store and buy exactly 2 bags of Ice. I'll return to my apartment and start up a bath of cold water. After it's been filled nigh-to-the-top, I'll dump the first bag of Ice in, and let it freeze a little for about 5 minutes. I will then submerge my body inside, turn off the lights, and close my eyes.



30 minutes have passed. My body is shivering and my senses are painfully aware of my surroundings. I reluctantly turn on my computer and boot up origin. The DLC is installed and I click the "Play" button. I finally bring that second bag of Ice and rest it on the back of my neck. Expectedly, my experience of the extended cut looks something like this.

I'm glad to share that with you all. I hope you'll all come out on election day.

I don't feel I need to "prepare" myself. Firstly, I've already "come to terms" with the endings, particularly the sadness and sense of loss I had, particularly from so many good characters dying and doing almost nothing in the end. I've accepted that this is how the game ends now, and just enjoy the parts of the series that were really good and I loved. Secondly, they've said several times that the endings won't change, and will only be "elaborated" upon. Therefore, I don't expect my reaction to be any different from the first time, albeit less sadness and more acceptance, like I said.

That is why I started this post. I can't help being excided even though I know I will be dissapointed. I am so envious of those who claim they feel nothing for the series anymore. Even though I'm angry at Bioware why the hell am I so elated about this?

i'm just going to go in and basically expect nothing, and look at it from a distance

i'm not expecting anything good. the whole thing's already over, and...

i'll see how it plays out, but mass effect's basically dead to me now. way i see it, this is one final look at its name on the memorial wall, and then signing off forever.

Is anyone going to spend time on the forum after this? I want to.. but I think it will just make me upset all over again. But I don't want to loose contact with this fanbase. It sucks cause I'm loosing more then just a great game...

I'm expecting the worst, that way when EC sucks as much ass as the ending did I'll feel vindicated. If by some chance it's actually decent then I'll be pleasantly surprised. Either way my bitter self wins.

(I look like an **** writing that, it's just the first thing that came to mind though.)

Just move to the MP forums, even though the ME univerise is pretty much dead MP is still playable so they'll stay alive until BW stops coming out with new DLC.

It's the same situation as the Star Wars prequels.  Star Wars fans everywhere raged about the Phantom Menace, but they were bouncing up and down and lining up for Attack of the Clones, then again with Revenge of the Sith.  It's also why Highlander fans kept with the series after Highlander 2; you love it, you want it to be great, and everytime you just think, "Maybe this time they'll get it right.  I mean it couldn't possibly get any worse."

As for demotivation I offer this.  Just replace "life" with "EC" and you will be fine.

Personally I am lookig forward to the EC but the I didn't have a problem with the original ending.  It should make me cry but I have become so jaded and cynical that I can no longer be disappointed.  The EC could be some horrid abomination forged in the bowels of Hell and it would still exceed my expectations.  What can I say, I'm a Highlander and a Star Wars fan, there is no joy left in me.

 I don't need to prepare myself for anything. I walked away from the franchise almost entirely, only keeping tabs on the damage control EA and Bioware have been attempting to do. The central conflict and narrative at the last 15 minutes of 3 absolutely ruined the entire franchise for me. The ending was appallingly bad, I don't need an extended cut to explain to me even further on why its bad. 
I couldn't even finish the Mars missions on my second play through because of how put off I was from a story perspective...

so I'm not even sure I'll even play the extended cut for the part of the game that was the worst portion of the game in the entire series.

Just gonna wait and see, as they said the endings are the endings and that won't change, I'm preparing for another huge dissapointment, I mean these are the same people that thought ANY of these endings would be ok....so meh.

Afghani Kush should do the trick. I will update my signature to say 20 minutes instead of 10 minutes, post a review of the EC, and say goodbye after kicking it around for a couple of days. Really, I'm prepared for the worst. I not going to do anything different. I'm going straight to Destroy. I want to see red explosions again. I want to see Shep take a breath and see if they gave me any closure... does Shep get to see Liara again?

And you know I could care less about the Geth.

The original ending was short and it sucked. Now I'm just expecting it to suck for a little longer. Mass Effect will probably end up on the shelf never to be taken down again. Dawnguard is coming out. I've got The Witcher 2 to finish, and a bunch of DLC from Fallout NV to finish, and that takes care of summer.

I'll probably just keep playing other games. I'll check in here towards the end of the day to check out the s**tstorm (or rainbows and clovers if it's good).

Personally, I'll wait till more SP DLC is announced (or not) then download everything all at once. I can't be bothered playin' again right now.
