First he would have to agree to the script, and big name actors only agree to scripts that they really love.
For instance, Helena Bonham Carter agreed to do The King's Speech even though it was a low budget movie.

But the script would have to be absolutely spectacular to get a big name in there.

It's a nice idea, but other than radio and audio CDs; i don't think he does voiceover work, much less for games. Though, i guess if the script for DA3 was epic enough, they might be able to get him interested. I wouldn't put my hopes on it though.Posted Image

If they did get him to sign on, imagine the chaos if they put his character, Alistair, and Cullen in the same room. Fangirl (and boys) heads would explode!Posted Image

He's already voiced some of the Dr. Who games/BBC animation so he's familiar with it. Whether he would be interested in Dragon Age and what arrangements would have to be made is another matter.

"'Nuff said" doesn't really apply until you've actually said enough to make your case...

The guy who voiced MHawke is a recognised actor. At least in the UK. Most people only know David Tennant because of Dr.Who.

If they shelled out for Martin Sheen in ME3 it's not beyond possibility.

So i just dreamt that Tim Curry, Kate Mulgrew, Martin Sheen, Keith David, Carie Ann Moss, Freddie Prince, and Seth Green were all failry well known "recognised" actors then? Posted Image

well i dont doubt they could, but like i say i doubt it will happen.  Also im pretty sure ME has a higher budget for these things

plus listing pre-existing characters doesnt make a case.if they already some high budget people it actualy seems less likely to me theyd take more on.

My first thought was,  "Who the hell is David Tennant?"  and second thought was,  "Why would someone I have never heard of, be ""nuff said''' ?.

So I did a little searching, to find out who Mr. Tennant is to catch up with everyone else.  And if this means he is being hired to Voice Act for DA3, I am less than pleased.  As I have stated many times in these forums, we do not need highly recognized actors and actresses to do the voices for any characters in videos games.  There are hundreds, if not thousands of talented voice actors that can do high quality work, that do not require the same amount of money to do the work.

Spending the type of money necessary to have Mr. Tennant, and other recognized actors will require a larger chunk of the budget than is necessary, and that means less money to go towards other aspects of the game...the aspects that the player will actually be "playing" instead of just watching and listening.   Hiring high name talent means that the game will be smaller, and I do not believe that is worth the price of being able to say "Hey, they have someone famous as the voice for X".

If such actors have already been used in previous episodes, like Kate Mulgrew and Claudia Black, and their characters are going to appear again, then of course Bioware needs to keep them on retainer for the sake of continuity.  However, for any new roles, they should save money by avoiding big name actors.    I am sure there are people out there, that make the decision to buy the game, based on who the voice actors are, but I have never known anyone that uses that criteria of whether or not they buy the game.  Myself, I never even check to see who the voice actors are, until after I play the game the first time, and I check the credits.

I don't understand. You want Bioware to use his face as the base model for some sort of gigantic chicken-monster?

I'd buy that game.

Seriously though, whilst David Tenant is a great actor and all (best doctor since they brought the series back) I'm not sure if spending a significant amount of money on him would be such a good idea. Especially when some of the big name VAs mentioned above could be returning in DA3 anyway, taking a fair bit of the VA budget with them.

And has he ever done any/expressed interest in voice acting anyway?

A good Actor does not necessarily make a good Voice Actor.

A lot of the complaints I've been seeing are the ones I was expecting.  Let me just start by saying that I myself am a voice actor.  I very familiar with the industry and how many people get screwed over when famous screen actors are chosen over veteran voice actors.  I want David Tennant in Dragon Age 3 because he is a great actor.  Not everyone has seen Doctor Who, but he is extremely talented.  In fact, he played Hamlet in the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of...well...Hamlet.  If you haven't seen his rendition of Hamlet's soliloquy, go watch it on Youtube.  It's amazing.  Also, he has done several audio dramas, so he is very capable of voice acting as well.

I would like to see him in Dragon Age 3 because I think he would bring a high level of entertainment and life to the series.  Although, yes, it is true that I'm not sure whether or not he would be interested in lending his voice to the game, nor whether Bioware would be interested in having him in the cast.

So yeah, I guess enough wasn't said.

If you've seen Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire or Fright Night, you've heard of him.  You just didn't know it.
