So on the weekend I sat down to play through the climatic ending. I was really getting immersed into the night before the battle, was liking the whole pact with Morrigan dialogue. and then.....

That horrible underware scene with the manquin looking PC and Morrigan.. YUCK OMG talk about a cold shower or being hit with a wet cabbage... totally killed the immersion.. it was like I was watching a suspenseful thriller movie one minute and then someone had taped over it with a cheap D grade porno. I dont enjoy watching puppets in undies do it - this was more akin to some joke sex scene in Thunderbirds.

Lesson learned - guys you can suggest more by showing less.

lighting - music - closeups - shadows

suggestions - next time get a womans advice, and the advice of someone who has actually had sex more than once.

watch a romantic movie and copy how they do it

some skin here, a siloette there, some breathe sounds

peoples imagination will fill the shadows and do a better job than you could.

I would not normally bother to comment about such things - but given this was an intergral part of the climatic ending of the game - and it did nothing but ruin it

guys take some advice next time and dont wreck a fantastic ending with a tacky and completely unromantic scene - better to have cut that scene out entirely if your not going to do it properly

Well the romance scenes were not that great either.

All the romance scenes and this ritual scene both made me LoL.

And the underwear totally killed what ever mild "sexyness/romanticness" those scenes had.

As far as endings and final bosses goes DA gets about a 3-4.5 out of 10.

Underware had nothing to do with it.

It wasnt just the underware - if they had been naked it would have been just as bad if not worse
I dont get off watching puppets do it - or manaquins
I agree the other romance scene were bad also, but not essential to the game.

suggest more - show less

LOL, yes it was a terribly awkward scene, but somehow I don't think that insulting the devs' sexual prowess is going to get your argument very far [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/lol.png[/smilie]

SHOW MORE! period. Maybe it could be done better but definitely don't cover anyone up or fade the screen to black. Too much is "insinuated" as it is and the romance scenes and conversations are so short compared to the role they play in the game and the impact they have on some players. If some players don't want to do the romance thing then skip it altogether, but for those who feel the romances are just as important as ending the friggin Blight, we want to see more, experience more, have more dialogue. Not 20 hours of killing then one 30 second cutscene of our conquest then back to killing again.

To put a positive spin on this, maybe they should have used Juliet's bedroom scene from Franco Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet as a template. It's sexy, steamy and you do not see any naughty bits. Many schools show that movie.

In Baldur's Gate, the ending was good.
In Baldur's Gate 2, it was very good.
In Throne of Bhaal, it was worthless. Only Ascension corrected that a bit.
In Mass Effect, it was, well, climactic.
In Dragon Age, the ending was basically on par with that in Throne of Bhaal. Maybe the problem is that the Archdemon represents absolute evil, and that's simply not interesting. Bioware should've really devised something better than that. Sarevok was a real person with his emotions and weaknesses. Irenicus was probably their best villain. Melissan was, well, just another character to kill. Saren was a troubled man, thinking that he could stop the Reapers from destroying humanity. The Archdemon was - I don't know who he really was, except for being a corrupted old god and I'll-kill-all-of-ya kind of villain. That's no longer entertaining.

Man, I do miss that ending in Planescape: Torment. It was a real masterpice. Better than in any game Bioware has developed so far. I wish they could do something like that.

Added: I forgot about KOTOR. Well, that wasn't too good, either. Malak sucks as a villan, plain and simple. KOTOR 2 may be a worse product, but Kreia is certainly a better villain.

I thought it was kinda funny.   It was like a cheap copy of the sex scene from Underworld: Rise of the Lycans... you know the one I'm talking about.  Where Lucian is hanging over the edge of the cliff...  I was totally into the scene, up until that shot, and then I was just laughing at how retarded it was.

On a different topic, I find it incredibly funny how Leliana is supposed to be seductive and fashionable, and yet wears incredibly bland under-garments.  And I change Wynn out of the party when I get to the Urn, just so I don't have to see her in her underwear.  Talk about Posted Image.

yes this is exactly the sort of thing Im referring to

Kudos to you for a good recommendation
edit: thinking about it this wouldve been great for Lilianna but for Morigan I think something darker would be more in line with the mood.

I got the nude mod because I was sick and tired of underwear but honestly, it doesnt look much better. Bodies are just weird in those scenes, totally un-natural. The way my PCs neck bends in one of those scenes is plain creeping me out.

It is not about nudity or rating, its just about making toons in those scenes look normal. As it is, esc is the only viable solution for me.

It's probably because Bioware recycled the male animations for it just like they did for running and walking, so males and females move the same way.

Either Bioware needs to get out of the office more, or their female staff move like men.

It's for this reason I started reading David Gaider's books after finishing the game, so many questions now about Loghain, the darkspawn, the archdemon and the old gods and I'm almost through with the first one: "The Stolen Throne." I'm sooo lucky Border's had both books when I went in the other day. I reeeeeeally wish I had known about these books, I would have read them while waiting for Dragon Age to release.

What's interesting is that the animator who did that scene is female. While you may have some points, you may want to hold off on the jumping to conclusions a little.

Well, I like how the OP keeps saying it ruined it because they don't get off on that sort of thing. Well you're not supposed to get off on it. Go watch porn if that's what you want. This is trying to tell a story.

I liked how the scene was done, though it was a bit weird. I think Morrigan would have looked better in a simple white "gown" though. Something tight, slender, and appears partially see through. Sometimes less is more.

I just beat the game tonight and I have to say I am somewhat disappointed overall. I was really into Dragon Age at first, but unfortunately the combat, while fun, isn't varied enough to stay interesting. Every fight devolved into line-of-sight the archers and mana cleanse the mage and proceeded in the exact same way.

My biggest criticism is that the story of the game overall was so simplistic. It was just a straight arrow from start to finish. No plot twists, not even any bends. Just go that way and kill the big monster, the end. I was hoping for some mystery like Mask of the Betrayer or epic-ness like Throne of Bhaal but got neither.

Anyway, good game overall but not quite as good as its predecessors.

Or even a bikini-style bra. The only thing that I at all noticed about that was that it would show under the clothes she wears.

Personally, I don't mind the scenes that much. I don't think they're wonderful, but I don't dislike them as much as other people seem to.

(Though I admit to laughing my head off every time Alistair and I are stripped and thrown in Fort Drakon in a cell together. I play a female PC, usually romantically involved with Alistair, so... I'm often amused. I would have preferred, since there's another cell right beside yours, that he be put in there if he's in your party at the fight before, but that's a minor little thing.)

Being hit by a wet cabbage!! Oh my god that's hilarious! I cannot stop laughing! Wet cabbage!! Ha ha ahahaha!

edit: I did find the sex scenes kind of awkward... but after seeing them again I kind of got over it. I think the music felt a bit out of place... hey, it's not my problem. It was nice that they put something like that in at all. Hell, we got given the option to kiss our romantic interest! Wahoo!

As a major, major fan of Jade Empire, I kept waiting for a plot twist like that game has. I enjoyed the storyline, but I did notice that, generally, my first impressions of people weren't disproven too much.

I was expecting some kind of speech before or after I kill the Archdemon but I got disappointed. In the other hand, the fight was so cool, I really liked it, it was so intense.

The thing that really i am disappointed at was coming to conclusion to everything instead of having open space for more adventures like having optional harder quests and bosses.

There should of been more chocolate sauce I say or caramel, whatever your taste. I say, more skin... more more. But the true killer, the more you play the game is the rather low quality of the textures and the human female model is just plain ugly. If it were not for the writing teams wonderful work (as usual) the game would of been very lack lustre. Now back to the beach, hot summers and gee string bikinis.

edit
For me I want more story a lot more with a deeper level of response to certain events and situations. Also I would like to see npc chatacters actually act as if they care about the PC... as usual I felt like all I had was a group of emotional cripples and I was their theripist.

I was kind of disappointed with the ending to DA.

The last Bioware game I had played was Mass Effect on my 360, and I really loved the feeling I had when I had defeated Saren and the human fleet was arriving to save the day, with all of the memorable music playing in the background. Whereas in DA, I was very slowly crawling through Fort Drakon, only to climb onto the roof and fire a ballista and the bloody demon for the next few minutes. It was just a little anti-climactic. I hope that in DA the final confrontation is much more dramatic - and a little less tactics orientated. Ruins the mood when you have to micromanage everything.

I did enjoy the epilogue at my funeral though.

As for the Morrigan sex scene, I told her that she was an evil ***** and that she could go and burn for all I cared. Anyone complaining about the clip, you deserve it for going near her in the first place, lol.
