What I want to return from DAO:
Better environments.
Shoes for elves.
Non-combat skills.

What I want to return from DA2:
Not being forced to play as a Warden. Ever.
Followers importance to the story and the bigger questlines for them.
Varric and Isabela.
Combat (most of it).
Race design.

Pros of DA:O
-Slower combat and battles that actually requires some thinking. Its a RPG not a hack and slash! The battles required actual tactics to position party members in right locations as well as deciding what spell/skill combinations to use on what enemy units. I found the battle speed great for tactical purposes of mitigating damage. Also from a tactical perspective, it is grossly annoying that in DA2 you would have enemies drop in randomly e.g from building rooftops. It felt like it made tactics completely irrelevant. They could always put in a parameter under options to adjust battle speed so that it would please both those that want to play a tactical game and those that want to charge right in to the action like in DA2
-Equipping party members. There is nothing worse than having a great piece of armor that only the player's main character can equip. What a waste. In DA2 if you play as a rouge you would still get mage armor which is useless to you. You should be able to equip other party members with it.
-Stop re-using the same maps for level design. DA2's DLCs in legacy and mark of the assassin seemed to have resolved this. Keep going down this path!
- The damn HOLD button!! This was broken in DA2 and made some boss battles a lot harder than it needed to be. It worked in DA:O and it was great. Would love to have this working in DA3 for tactical purposes.
- Ability to play as different races from different backgrounds

Pros of DA2:
-Story was better. Especially the integration of party members with the overall theme of the story

I'm currently replaying Origins, so I keep being reminded of stuff I liked.

And one of those things I liked was having to unlock Specialisations through Quests. I wouldn't mind seeing that make a return in DA3 (though I also wouldn't mind if an unlocked Specialisation stayed unlocked in further playthroughs).

Perhaps a few of the more 'basic' Specialisations (Force Mage, perhaps Beserker) can be unlocked from the start, but more advanced ones lore-wise (Blood Mage, Spirit Healer, Templar, Reaver, etc.) require you to do something first before you can just pick them.

Oh, and I'd like to see Shapeshifter back even though it wasn't that great in Origins. I just like the concept.

I'd also like the return of needing to be taught specializations, or having them unlocked through a quest, as in Origins. Unlocking Reaver and Arcane Warrior were particularly fun, as the related scenes helped my character get a feel for the specialization, lore-wise.

Agreed about unlocking specialisations.

DAO
Different origins.
The choice to add a companion or not.
The journal looked like something my PC had in her pack. DA2's was just too Mass Effect it didn't fit DA's fantasy setting at all.

DA2
The combat animations for the mage and most of the DW rogue moves. I like my rogues zippy and it makes them distinctly different from a warrior.
The friendship/rivalry metre and the interparty banter.

Missed talking to my companions whenever I wanted to, even when it was accidental. Yes it was awkward being in the middle of a battle and suddenly talking to someone, but maybe they could do a battle fix and you would be told "later, sort of busy trying not to die here" comment.

I enjoyed the Alistair/warden kiss and the comments the others made, or just taking him to town and leaving the others. And it was nice to at least get the kiss comment and option after all the other conversation is gone. It was a nice touch and I missed this with Zev and DA2.

Liked going to the bar or someone's home in DA2 and seeing my friends hanging out with each other, but it was certainly easier for me to be in the camp and just go from one companion to the next. Not sure what would work best maybe a combination of both. Being able to talk to anyone at a bar or going to where ever they live and talk.

I liked silly stuff like being able to change my appearance in DA2. I did like the companion banter in both games.

I loved the Aveline romance with Gardsman Donnic. This was one of my favorite quest and would love something in DA3 like it.

I also liked my dog. Usually took him with me in DA;O he was a good fighter and I liked the way the mage worked in DA;O but I would love to see "Open Lock" back as a mage spell and also "Smash Lock" as a warrior even if a few things get broke in the process. I don't always play with a balanced group. And would enjoy some kind of pet but would prefer a panther or another dog.

Would like to pick my companions and be able to not recruit ones I want to leave behind. I killed Zev a few times and recruited him. I told people to leave and told them to stay. It was something that I could see my character doing and each of my characters is a little bet different from the last.

Personally I would rather not have anyone from past games show up. My imported games could just give people something to talk about. Say did you hear the mages took over Kirkland. Say that royal couple, used to be wardens, I've heard they are helping the elves in Ferelden or heard that the King of Ferelden and his mistress helping to rebuild the circle and give mages more freedom.

That said I wouldn't mind seeing some of the lesser characters from either or both previous games or books either join my group or visit. Though it depends on how much time has past between DA2 and 3. I'm sure there are other things that would be nice to see.

I really hope they bring back the dialogue from origins. I liked having many options. I also liked having the ability to intimidate and persuade. those two options made dialogue great.
I also want the politics from both games to return. Choosing different sides and making deals can make RPGs way more fun. Politics was the funniest part of Fallout New Vegas. I want the ability for my character to become either ruler or at least nobility.
