"A while ago I asked Weekes can geth and EDI survive Destroy if EMS is high. He didn't know answer at the time and a spoiler."
"I believe it was determined that they do not :("
Don't know about anyone else, but that right there renders EC an utter waste of time for me
Them surviving was the only thing I really cared about in the EC and now, I just don't care.
yeah, I'll play it, but it's just going to make everything worse.
Congrats, BioWare. Not only have you killed the franchise by serving us crap for desert, now you're trying to disguise the crap in polish and shine.

Yeah this news has defiantly dampened down any enthusiasm
for the EC I was feeling, and I was already finding it hard to be enthused
about it.

EDI and the geth always die. So it's not a price of Shepard surviving, unless destroy truly has no validity as a choice beyond having Shepard live.
You can't have both. Either destroy is a valid option, on equal footing with control and synthesis, or it is the throwaway ending that is only there so people can imagine the protagonist survived.
There is no price to Shepard surviving, else there is no purpose to destroy beyond Shepard surviving.
They basically took the clearest option of victory, distorted it beyond all recognition, and then tacked on Shepard's death rattle to try to balance it out (but only for those who engage in multiplayer).

Then again I bet just to be dicks they'll get rid of the breath scene so Shepard dies in all of the colours.
Bleak does not always = Good writing. Sometimes, but not always.

Yup pretty much. It's not like the writers care about their writing actually meaning anything. Actually that's not fair, I just mean two writers, the rest of the ME3 writers are fine.

''DOES THIS UNIT HAVE A SOAL?''....I guess that was all pointless
''Only now do I feel truly alive'' ........Well not for long.
I already feel horrible about this.

I guess a GOOD ending where one could feel that something was actually ACCOMPLISHED without the feel of the undoing of so many things in the process only for that almost childish feel of sacrifice (you can't get that message through unless you smack it over people's heads every fifteen minutes, right?) was just too much to ask for. These endings are without a doubt some of, if not THE worst writing I have ever seen.

EDIT
*Sigh* I'm not giving up on EC yet, but this news is not encouraging.

If the evidence for confiming Geth/EDI death in Destroy is a Jessica Merizan tweet, I think I'll wait until Tuesday for verification thank you very much.
Yeah, it would be nice if this turned out to be yet another accidental miscommunication, but I've got a feeling my luck's not that good.

That's really all we can do. Personally, I'm going to load up on my hopes and dreams for a happy, satisfying conclusion to this epic series, charge headlong towards the Destroy option, and see what happens.

Oh yeah, I'm sure she's a lovely person, but it almost seems like she gets told something then an hour later someone in charge goes ''OH CRAP NO! WE ARN'T DOING THAT' NOW'
then we all call her a heartless liar and then when she tries to exlain what happend it gets missed in the angry people shouting over the internet.

You do realize that the Reapers usually kill EVERYONE when they roll through? (Advanced species that is.)
We're the only ones out of countless cycles to not only beat them, but to do so with enough races to rebuild viable populations. So long as there are enough left to do that much, no bodycount is too great.

The term 'pyrrhic victory' sums up my reaction to that. Guess 'we'll win this war without sacrificing the soul of our species' was another thing that got dropped by the wayside for the writing staff.

That turned out to be so hollow. It meant nothing.

As charming as seeing a mangled vegative Shepard would be, I was hoping the EC was planning to make the ending a little more bittersweet. Hearing the Geth are confirmed dead on Destroy further lowers my expectations.Erixxxx wrote...
We still do not know how much alive Shep really is when you've got the "perfect" ending. Could be a couple of broken bones, or all of his/her internal organs could be in the process of shutting down completely since the implants were fried by the energy wave.
No need to confirm it, it was stated clearly in the game - that's why Destroy is the Renegade choice. Pick control and you can fly the damn things into a star if you want, but you sacrifice your corporeal form and nobody else has to die (Paragon).
Synthesis, the third option (BatSh*t Crazy), is just horrifying and mind-boggling.

I'd rather not have to defeat the Reapers by playing Jigsaw-Catalyst's game, thanks
