We still do not know how much alive Shep really is when you've got the "perfect" ending. Could be a couple of broken bones, or all of his/her internal organs could be in the process of shutting down completely since the implants were fried by the energy wave.

As charming as seeing a mangled vegative Shepard would be, I was hoping the EC was planning to make the ending a little more bittersweet. Hearing the Geth are confirmed dead on Destroy further lowers my expectations.

No need to confirm it, it was stated clearly in the game - that's why Destroy is the Renegade choice.  Pick control and you can fly the damn things into a star if you want, but you sacrifice your corporeal form and nobody else has to die (Paragon).

Synthesis, the third option (BatSh*t Crazy), is just horrifying and mind-boggling.

I'm a sucker for a happy ending, so I'll probably end up murdering a species and dear friend for My Shep to get back to his LI(Liara).
Yeah Synthesis was painted (ho ho) to be the nice ending, but it just seems horrible when you give it any thought. What if people didn't want to syntheisied. I'm sure the Geth liked the fact that they were synthetic, and organic for everyone else in the galaxy.

The thing is that it was also stated in the game that Shepard, part Synthetic, would die in the destroy ending as well. With the "breath" scene, we were given reason to suspect that part of the Catalyst's statement was at least incorrect, if not an outright lie. Once one part is demonstrated as being untrue, the question of whether we should believe ANYTHING it said on that subject is raised.

I guess the Marauder Shields comics are still the canon ME3 endings now.....I assumed that's how it would be anyway....

I may disagree with many things said on BSN but I do agree that Synthesis is a bit of a WTF-moment. It's definitely an interesting option to discuss, but I would never take it myself.

Control is a means to survival.

EDI and Geth survive. The Citadel is intact. Ending the war with no more casualties.

Anyway I'm updating the OP with this:

twitter.com/JessicaMerizan/status/216600049491251200
"A while ago I asked Weekes can geth and EDI survive Destroy if EMS is high. He didn't know answer at the time and a spoiler."

"I believe it was determined that they do not :("

Don't know about anyone else, but that right there renders EC an utter waste of time for me :(

Why? Because no one can get an ending with no downsides?

I agree. It wouldn't be fair if the Geth and EDI survived. There MUST be a downside.

I thought it was possible for EDI to walk out of the Normandy if you pick destroy.

So did I.  And I also thought that it was confirmed that it wasn't a bug.

And the Reapers return in another 50,000 years.

You do realize that the Reapers usually kill EVERYONE when they roll through? (Advanced species that is.)

We're the only ones out of countless cycles to not only beat them, but to do so with enough races to rebuild viable populations. So long as there are enough left to do that much, no bodycount is too great.

The term 'pyrrhic victory' sums up my reaction to that.  Guess 'we'll win this war without sacrificing the soul of our species' was another thing that got dropped by the wayside for the writing staff.

So a bunch of people dying without anyone going extinct = we have no soul, now?
What does "soul" even mean to you?

I'd rather not have to defeat the Reapers by playing Jigsaw-Catalyst's game, thanks

"Commander Shepard has ended the Reaper threat," so no. Nice try though.

So you believe a shiny little being that just suddenly appears with no foreshadowing or lore to support anything he says....... okay... that makes a ton of sense :?

So? The Crucible itself didn't have those things either.

As for believing him, if he wanted to kill me he could have left me on the floor to bleed out.

The crucible was built up OVER THE GAME at least... the Starchild was just all :wizard: I haz answers! :wizard:.

And really?  Whose to say you didn't bleed out and this was all some deranged dying fantasy bred by failure?  Or IT?  And for your supposed "logical" stance... where's all the blood that had been pouring out... or why didn't he question the Starchild more and suddenly accept being railroaded into that decision... or why does the Starchild only show up when defeat of the reapers finally looks possible?

Lot of questions and plot holes you like to ignore so you can scream that you understand better than anyone else.  Sadly, you don't.

Of course he has answers, you plugged the Crucible into him.

And those answers came from the Crucible, all he did was read them out loud to you.

You mean all the blood covering Shepard, or leaking from his side? That blood? :innocent:

IT is a massive delusion created by fans unwilling to face reality, don't bother parroting it at me as you're just wasting text.

I understand that accepting the Crucible but not the Catalyst is a double-standard.

 o this is priceless.  The starchild makes sense because the crucible plugs into it despite there never, not once, being a single mention of the brat at any point EVER.  O I applaud your serious logical reasoning!

And I'm not championing IT or anything... but the fact it makes more logical sense then the drivel your spouting does you no favours.  Seriously, your argument is "IT"S IN THE GAME" then plugging your ears and calling everyone else idiots.  Too bad you actually have no real points to discuss and are just here to try and insult those well within their rights to question the plot holes littering the final 10 minutes.  But carry on with your mindless ranting.. please.

Not sure what you mean by "the starchild makes sense." He's kind of just, y'know, there. There's nothing about him to really make sense of, it's the Crucible you're up there trying to figure out.

I mean, would you have rather Shepard shot the pipe, been like "Hey guys, we did it!" and then realized the Geth ships/EDI weren't moving anymore, with no explanation? Kind of silly to play it out that way.

No offense, but your opinion of what makes logical sense didn't rank highly with me even before you started referring to IT positively.

What ranting? I'm just stating facts. If Starkid wanted Shepard dead - bringing him up the elevator, telling him how to beat the Reapers, and even raising the bridges so he can get over there makes no sense. Surely even you can see that?

I'd argue.. but you proved in another thread you don't know a damn thing and just need to be ignored.  So please, revel in your pathetic ignorance and feel superior.  The rest of us will just leave you be and drop a cookie to keep you sated from time to time. :wizard:

Jessica Merizan also said the Normandy crash lands on Mars so I don't believe anything she says personally.
