He was 55 strength at 17, and that was with me putting 95% of points into str since I got him, so I don't know how I could have raised it higher. Anyway, I had plenty of money still and got him the Chasined Great Maul and his damage sky rocketed (well, not really, but it went fom high50/low60 to high70/low80 with 120-140 crits. Still never really used him in my parties though.

So how do you all propose building a 2-hander then, because I was going to try one as my next character. Just pretty much 70% of points into str rest into Dex/Willpower?

i wouldnt put any into dex, just some points into will, 85% str 15% willpower. dex is useless to a 2 hander, having it high enough to be of any use would hinder your dmg too much,  id rely on armor and maybe a few points in con, you can check out my 2hander to see what i did if you want.

If you've already beat the game once, you probably know how to play (and how to get Wade's Massive Dragon plate early too, and to get points from the Fade)....

So I recommend putting 100% of your points into STR.

I'm not even joking about this. My dwarven 2h warrior is critting for 186 pts right now....

at level 18, on nightmare

I'm having the same problem as the OP with the 2 handers. I've thought about just building them early for DWing but yea, both my warriors and rogues are hitting twice as hard as the 2 handed combat lines are. I think Sten has the darkspawn sword from the dragon in orzammar & Orghen the sword from Logaine's Lt chick.

When I built my warrior for 2H, I put most points into Str, then Con and finally Stamina.

You don't really need Dex unless YOU are the tank..which tanks usually carry a shield not a 2H.

But as for me..I'm a dual wield girl. I have Allister tanking, so I could blast out some serious damage and not have my stamina deplete by carrying a large sword that drags when I walk.

But hey, at least it got sharpened with every step. :)

By the end of the game a PC built 2h user will have 70-80 strength depending on how crazy you are. With a Chasind Great Maul, (Best two hander in game, do not use a sword.) will be hitting for 80-90+, you are doing something wrong. However, your companions always have jacked up stats.

Has been answered a lot of times. As 2 hander Str is your main stat. Love it, pump it and occasionally throw a point into Willpower. If you buy the Chasind Great Maul eventually (which you should), you get 75 stamina for free and an incredible AP bonus. The only time you should touch Dex as a 2 hander is if you want to tank without having to spam pots or harass your mages for healing (and you hate Alistair too). You don't really need a single point into Con (there are lots of items for it, even without the fade bonuses).
