If N7 is 120 or over, I look at weapons for reference. But I'm still very skeptical of anyone with N7 under 120. You can't fully understand a class until you've played it in actual MP. No amount of SP will give the same experience. And it's a lot harder to work together with a class if you don't know how it works.
im with everyone else - i could really care less about N7 ranking. i also dont really care about what kind of weaponry people are using. anyone who is shooting, killing, and surviving is doing just fine in my book. i can agree that there are load-outs that are more effective than others depending on class/build - but being effective doesnt soley rely on the weaponry alone.
i frequently choose less typical load-outs that may not be as strong as others, but none of them ever prove ineffective to the point where i cant contribute to the team in a beneficial manner. knowing how the weapon works and the role it plays is more valuable on the battlefield than simply matching the weapon with its native class. and like many others, im sure, i have certainly chosen some pretty ridiculous load-outs just for the sake of seeing what works.
in my opinion, the most valuable skill is being able to tactically and strategically control the entire battefield through calm and calculated team work. when a team comes together to efficiently execute the threat - its a beautiful thing that no single weapon in the game can accomplish based on its own merit alone.
the only thing that matters to me, is that the rest of the team understands what were up against and reacts to it accordingly.

Hm, well in gold randoms I usually only see kicks for people w/ N7 ~50 or less w/ starter wpns on low ranks and/or really low lvls (but you'd expect that for Gold, right?), and ofc for taking too long to ready. Otherwise kicks aren't that common, from 100 all the way up to the thousands, most people on PC just roll w/e, for better or worse.

The only thing that matters is their weapons lvl/equipment and the level of the character they are using (Don't try a lvl 1 on u/u/G... Unless you are with friends and are/or be a masochist
Personally I'm not too picky, for me, as long as the guy is a good player, I'll be fine.

LOL you forgot the "man learns a woman actually knows how to play a video game" part. They always seem so amazed by that part.
PS I'm female irl, too =P We really do play video games.

Tonight, an N7 20 dropped into our free spot w/ a level 20 Human Soldier and X and IX rares equipped - apparently, he's been playing for weeks and only plays the same character - we all switched to Humie Soldiers and did a Glacier/Reaper/Gold match and did pretty well (a bit hectic) and ended the match neck and neck at around 80K each. The only bad thing was that he was a bit of an odd duck and spent the first few rounds refusing to move out of the basement, ruining the spawn killing. I think we ended up at around 22min or something instead of 15min.

Under 120 though, it's pretty obvious that the players won't be as good as someone with better experience.

I stopped promoting at 360 when I realized its better to be underestmated than overestimated.
I would have stopped at 120, but Shieldwall made me go up to 210.
I won't promote unless it's needed for a commendation pack.

Promoting is indeed just a time stamp. But I found that it does get me some respect and they let me do things they wouldn't let others. Like an asari vanguard with claymore and widow. 100,000 points later lol
absolutely true.i boosted my N7 to near 800 only for public games.i used to run the Human Soldier on Gold successfully back then when everybody thought he sucks.so im quite thankful to the ignorance of people who think N7=skill.they must have thought "lolwut Human Soldier, but hes N7 700,he must be knowing how to do it".and i did.

As more and more of my friends stop playing ME3, I've been playing more PUGs. This morning, I played with an N7 3000+ who was pathetic (he ended the match with about ~8000 points, and as far as I could tell he wasn't leeching).

Holding the Glacier basement is quite easy. Probably trying to get yas to go down there! No different than doing a White/Geth farm.

Speed Runs - How much skill does it really take to memorize and nuke spawn points with rockets and buddies
Stasis Snipers/Shotguns - Does this really need an explanation?
TC Melee/Weapons with ludicrous bonuses - Really now?
Playing with friends vs PUGs - Well if you do the same thing over and over again...This is why Gold is such a breeze compared to when it isn't.
N7 Ratings as we all know, does not equate to skill. Whether it be 120 with maxed weapons or 6000 with maxed weapons
I love reading these dumb arsed threads everyday with my coffee.

Today I played with a gamer I assumed would run around the feild shooting crazily into the air. An asari vanguard using a claymore...no way I thought! Using no rockets the entire match he put up a very impressive score considering the other two players were SI using the Krysae. After the match was over I asked how he put up that high of a score being so low in N7.
You know what?, I started with Asari Vanguard and claymore since i started in MP, I almost always overscored people with high N7 who asked me the same question that you ask her.
Some of us don't really like to promote, I am a big example of that, my N7 is 1300 just because of challenges, but If i were a promote fan I were like 10.000, but believe me when I say "N7 DOES NOT MATTER", is not an indicator of skill.
She actually told me it was a build similar to the one you posted in a thread awhile back. Big fan of yours John, and yes im very glad I got to see it first hand.
Really ?
Do I know her?, I mean, she has me in her friend list?, I would like to know who is her.
You know is a surprice, I never thought that a big amount of people know about me.
She is on Xbox and asked me not to post her GT after I told her I was gonna post this. But your vids are gaining popularity. You Stardusk and Jumpin are a few I know of.
