I downloaded it and then didn't really feel like messing with it. I should get back to figuring it out. I just don't want to spend an afternoon on it.

I understand. It was a pain in the rear to learn for me, as well. At first it looked kind of scary, but eventually I found out it's like a three step process, mostly consisting of dropping the mod in and clicking a button, to install a mod (after it scans your game's files) and I'm very happy with the results. However, I get not wanting to spend your day on it because I was there, as well. Good luck if you ever feel like trying.

Please remind me to never try this again. I just spent five hours trying to get an eyelash mod in-game. (Because I think we can all agree that the ME3 eyelashes are awful and I figured I'd start small.) No tutorials are for the updated and stable version of ME3Explorer. Tried Texmod. Followed directions exactly, and now ME3 won't even load. Not from Origin, not from the shortcut, and not directly from the executable. I did rename it correctly, if you're wondering.

Now I'm trying to repair the game, because that will take less time than copying the files back over, which, thank goodness, I actually did. I'm a tad grumpy right now.

hmm.. OP is basically using Kaidan's texture over BroShep's mesh. I know that round head shape from a mile away.

ME3Explorer always crash my game. I gave it up a long time ago.

I'm sorry about your experience, Monica. I can't help with Texmod since that's never worked for me. I only use it to pack and repack mods. But I could try and write a ME3 Explorer tutorial if necessary or explain further. Not that I'm an expert, but I've already gone through the ordeal of learning the basics and more. Well, unless you're scarred for life and unwilling to try again. Which I'd understand, as well. I really can't say these things are awfully intuitive.

Either way, just in case here should be a tutorial on how to use the ME3 Explorer. The feature you're looking for is called TexplorerGirlplaysgame had great tutorials on how to start (and a bunch of nice mods), if I'm not mistaken, but the site seems to be a mess at the moment. Not sure what happened. Shame.

Spoiler

ME3 Explorer shouldn't crash or freeze your game if you update the TOC.bin whenever you're making any model changes or do something with the game files themselves (e.g. replacing them, deleting them, etc). Extracting over already extracted or modded files (like MEHEM) is also not recommended. I always run ME3 Explorer's TOCbinUpdater whenever I have issues. But I guess the programs are a matter of taste, either way. And I have no idea how different rigs might influence them.

PS: Yeah, ME eyelashes are crap in all the three games.

I'm not unfamiliar with modding, and I've modded lots of games in my life. I've even successfully modded Inquisition, so it's not like I'm just a technoob. I do feel a bit dumb though, because this should be easy, right? One problem I ran into is that there's an older, more popular version of ME3Explorer out there and I downloaded the stable version from here. Mostly because it's the new one, but every written and video tutorial I could find was about the previous version. I don't know if there's much of a difference, but somewhere, I did something, and then my game wouldn't load.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply anything besides that learning is a pain in the ass probably for everybody. Now I feel bad for recommending, though.

Either way, it's true I have some older version, as well. Possibly r632, if I'm not mistaken. From what I've read on the wiki, the steps are still the same if that thing gets updated. Well, installing mods is another matter, but if you've found tutorials yourself, I won't have anything you haven't seen already. If you suspect it's the new version, you could always try the older ones, if you're willing. The version from 2014 worked just fine for me.

It's hard to tell where the problem is from here. Crashes do hint at damaged or missing files, though.

Oh, no! I didn't take anything that way. I'm totally willing to take you up on a tutorial. Hell, we could Skype. But I'm in a weird part of my life where I have a lot of time, and not everyone has that kind of time. I was just like, "This should be easy. I've done this before." But apparently nothing about modding Mass Effect is easy. I completely believe that it's my fault. I think one can easily skip a step somewhere and everything is just ruined.

Skype, Origin, or Steam, if needed. PMs work, too. As long as it's just text because I'm too freaking shy to voice chat. I think figuring it out for the first time is the tricky part and consists of a lot of trial and error. I see that as natural, as frustrating it might be. Either way, you can link me to the eyelash mod if you wish and I could try it on my game to see what happens.
