Since I dowloaded the DLC every time I choose "Multiplayer" in the main menu it loads for around 5 minutes and then displays a message claiming I have lost connection to the mass effect 3 servers. Then it returns me to the main menu.
It's been doing this for days now and I'm really frustrated that I'm going to miss this weekend's operation.
Can anyone please help me?

It uses ports 5659 and 6000 with UDP protocol. Make sure those are open on windows, and if you use any kind of network appliance like a router, that it does not have any feature blocking that. If you have a firewall...and I highly recommend this for only a few seconds as a test, NOT any longer...you could disable the firewall just to see if it then connects. If it does, it is a firewall port needing opening.

Thanks, I'll be sure to try that, but why did it stop working only after I downloaded the DLC? Its been working for months on the same unchanged network before...

I can confirm, at least for me, that this issue was indeed my firewall.

Does anyone know what I need to open it to? Is it the game? Origin? I'm not familiar with port opening.

If the software for the firewall is on windows, then it possible an executable changed. Windows is not the most impressive tool in the network shed...your DLC may have caused your firewall to no longer trust the game. Only if it is a separate firewall would it not be at risk.

Not sure what ports origin uses, but the two UDP ports listed above are what are used for multiplayer.

Opening those ports did the trick, ME3 mutliplayer works again, thanks.

I fixed it by using Origin's "Fix Installation" feature. Still takes years to load but Multiplayer works now
