My biggest fear with the EC id if there isn't a way for my Shepard to be alive and with my LI. The EC has to have that, is it doesn't then the EC failed me and I'm guessing most people.

There are many things that are worrying me about the ending but I personally will be keeping faith in BW. They did so well on the other aspects of ME3, in my opinion, and so I am going to assume that something great will pop out of this.

That said, I do understand the fears. I keep asking the what ifs of the EC. But I am staying positive.

I am tired of tragedy as well (like Dragon Age), and open endings like DA 2. I hope this is true too.

My main fear is that no matter who your LI was, Liara will always have Shep blue childs.

Not really my "main fear", but definitely bothers me too. I hope BW is not pulling that cheap stunt. It's okay for Liara to bear Shepard's child if romanced, otherwise - no. Please no. It would make Liara feel creepy like hell then.

Besides that? My biggest fear is that the EC states clearly Shepard (if survived) never reunited with his/her LI.

Yeah, pretty much this. Well, if that will happen then tomorrow will start another March for some people.. Me included.

Depends on when that "trigger" happens.

They will reunite anyway. In 70 years, maybe more.

Hahaha.

Liara will STEAL YOUR BRAIN-SPERM

AND HAVE ALL OF YOUR BABIES

AND THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT

I don't mean to be an ass, but come on now. Wee bit paranoid, don't you think?

^ given the fact how BW treated Liara and "forced" that farewell-scene on the player (c'mon - even if you dislike Liara, you simply can't be an ass and pick the lower right choice!), it's possible.

Doubt BW will do it, but they also proved already they could do it.

Liara's gift scene is completely optional (if you don't talk to her she won't even offer the gift in the goodbye scene), the writers have said it was not meant to be sexual, Liara told Shepard it is simply sharing some memories and she only mentions blue children if you romanced her/played LotSB/stayed loyal.

If unwanted blue children are your greatest fear...well, at least the EC won't disappoint you

Already way ahead of you. I always say "no thanks" when she asks to mind-meld. Sorry Liara, but that's just weird.

But anyway, topic, I don't think Bioware would risk pissing more people off. Shepard being able to survive is a factor that's keeping a lot of tempers in check (even though it doesn't make much sense, but just chalk that up as yet another plot hole). They wouldn't close a can of worms just to open up another one. Casey and Mac weren't left unchecked, this time. I know there was a voice of reason at every new twist. And if not, then I weep for this game.

Plus, retconning Shepard breathing would be a major change. And Bioware has said millions of times that they won't be changing the ending. To what extent that is, we'll just have to wait until tomorrow to see.

Killing Shepard would most likely result in a new March Madness. And at this point, I think Bioware wants to avoid that at all costs.

I dunno. Killing Shepard in ALL endings is less retconning than replacing Normandy's fate by something that's more bearable for us fans. And if I remember correctly, it was that very issue why a lot of fans were p*ssed off.

So if BW decides to replace the Normandy's fate, they also could kill Shepard in the destruction ending with EMS >4000.

I want to believe they wouldn't be that callous.

Hence the reason why I never, ever talk to Liara again after the Thessia mission (well, ok, there is the fight between her and Javik that I do watch, lol...)  -  the "gift" scene with a non-romanced Shepard is quite franky one of the creepiest damn things I've seen in this series (talk about making Liara a friggin' Shepard-stalker...), but just saying "No, I don't want your gift" turns Shepard into a giant a**hole. <_< So sorry Liara, but we're not talking anymore.

I want to believe in the good of mankind.

Seriously: it's callous already if a surviving Shepard can never see his/her LI again and it's stated in the EC!
After all the sacrifices Shepard had to do, losing the LI would be the worst punishment in the end.

Already happened to everyone who romanced Thane or Jacob.

True.
BW has a tendency to hate female players, huh? :(
At least in case of Thane you knew he was dying, but Jacob? His character got slaughtered. <_<

My biggest fear is them not giving any attention to the ME2 LI's. Which will probably happen.

Tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther.... And one fine morning—

So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.

Your fears may well be justified OP. From what I heard it doesn't sound like BioWare intended Shepard to survive at all. And the breath scene was meant as an easter egg instead...

If this is actually true, the EC will actually ruin the ending further for me...

Exactly. Thus, my fear.

That single breath and the file being named Shep lives have been my one ray of hope and allowed me to head canon a good ending.

If the EC smashes those hopes, I won't rage or send more cupcakes, however. I'll just move on to other games and get rid of my ME games.

I still sincerely hope it doesn't come to that as I really love this series.
