Hi!
I used a GeForce 8800GT (512MB RAM), with P4 3GHz, 2GB DDR2 RAM and NVidia driver 296.10, and Mass Effect 3 worked fine. Now I've bought a GT440 (1 GB RAM), installed Nvidia 301.42 driver, and the Mass Effect Configurator says
"Mass Effect 3 will not run properly because the driver for your display adapter is too old. You must update your driver to correct this problem. Please see your hardware vendor's website for further information on obtaining the required drivers."
And of course ME3 is slower than before. As I saw, all of my other games work fine. Do you have any idea what could be the problem? I don't want to reinstall the OS if it's not necessary.
Newest driver is too old

Exactly it's not slower. Just lags like hell when I start to run for example. Or turning quickly. I'll reinstall XP, and say if I found something. :/

The GT440 is slower. The 8800GT may not be able to use DX11 or anything higher openGL 2, but it does have higher bandwidths and texture fill rates than the GT440. You can look at Nvidia's site and look at the Gpu specifications. They even have a chart. The 8800GT might not be on it but the 9800 GT is the same Gpu (just maufactured smaller and has power management features) and it out performs the GT440.

This is interesting, you're right, thanks! As I saw other games, like Skyrim runs smoother on GT440. Is this because of the memory? I have a 1GB DDR5 version of GT440.
Well, this card will go to another PC which has 9500GT now.

Hmm... I've just put back the 8800GT. The whole game is slower, aaand it lags again while I'm running! This will be something else. Whatever, I'm going to work, and afternoon I'll reinstall Windows, that's the cleanest thing.

Having the same problem here.
This may be caused by the driver. I upgraded my graphics card from 8800 GT to GTX 560 Ti and also installed 301.42 (clean install). Suddenly, in all BW games that use the configuration tool, the driver was displayed as 31.42. Of course, this number is too low. So, until I find a decent solution, the driver is back to 296.xx.

I've tried an older driver. ME doesn't says it's old, but performance is still worst than before with 8800 and 440 too.

I'm using 301.42 on a KFA2 nVidia 560 EX OC (slightly less spec than the 560 Ti) and ME3 is running fine.
Obviously this doesnt help you guys at all though, just thought I'd let you know the drivers work ok for some :-s
