I'll keep doing exactly as I have so far. Buy their games whenever they look appealing to me.

The alternative is missing out on them, and I'm just not gonna self-deny the RPGs that the best RPG company of the world makes. I'd probably deserve to be shot if I was that stupid.

if it fails to meet my rock bottom expectations, you know it has failed on an epic scale

My expectations are very low, if it manages to not even meet that, I'll be surprised.

However, I won't be buying any more BW/EA games until this series gets some kind of good finale. and until then, there will be nothing from my wallet to their pocket.

and now thisis getting derailed to a law topic for some reason....

My expectations for EC are low, as it seems with everyone else.

I think BW has pretty much lost its fanbase and there only saving grace atm is DA2 which apparently is going to turn into a Skyrim clone...

If the EC fails then i'm just not bothering with Bioware again. There're enough developers out there and still create good games that i can enjoy

For me this Extended Cut is the last chance I am prepared to give BW after a disastrous year, which started with the release of DA2 and ended with ME3.

Besides I agree with StElmo

I'll just continue head-canoning the ending as I'm already doing.

As far as I'm concerned the scene with the Catalyst never happened, and the Crucible simply activated when it docked with the Citadel - wiping out the Reapers at the cost of the relays.

The rest of the trilogy was fantastic, and this is one of the few game developers that actually puts an emphasis on characters and writing, so I'll continue to look forward to their games. Perhaps not quite as much as I looked forward to ME2 and ME3, but the ending isn't enough for me to turn my back on the company.

Won't buy any Mass Effect DLC, but will consider buying future Bioware releases, if indeed I hear they're good. (At least they did do an EC)

If it fails I walk away from this company and never look back. If they can't write a proper ending for their flagship franchise, they don't deserve my money ever again.

Yep.

Funny thing, i don't see any high expectations about EC arround here. A lot of people expect another fail so they will not be shocked again. In case of another fail they just walk away from bioware.

More petitions, more holding the line, or just moving along to better things and projects?

Honestly, I can't see it getting any worse but I doubt I'll be in awe of the EC either. Maybe...just maybe I'll grow more content with it all.

Also I get the impression that there might be heat on Bioware for not supporting IT in the new content. I don't really get that at all. To me IT is nothing more than a fan attempt to make more sense out of the nonsense ending(s) we got the first time around. Some people might say bye bye to Bioware forever if this fails to dazzle them.

Only time will tell.

I predicted that Electronic Arts would Burn for this debotchory and the proof is in the stock of EA right now.

Fans: Change the ending
BioW: What? Your tiny mind probably didn't understand it. How about we tell it to you again a bit slower?
Fans: No, just change it.
BioW: I'll re-iterate it.
Fans: Change it!!!
BioW: Space magic.

WOW this is exactly how it played out....

If you leave out the fact that it didn't play out like that AT ALL, then yes, that is EXACTLY how it played out.

Bitter, angry, mob:  CHANGE THE ENDING!
Bitter, angry, mob:  CHANGE THE ENDING!
Bitter, angry, mob:  CHANGE THE ENDING!
Bitter, angry, mob:  CHANGE THE ENDING!

Bioware: This was the story we wanted to tell.  We're not going to change it.
Bitter, angry, mob:  CHANGE THE ENDING!

Reasoned, rational fans: We understand that you don't want to change what you created.  Could what you created at least make sense?
Bitter, angry, mob:  CHANGE THE ENDING!
Bitter, angry, mob:  CHANGE THE ENDING!
Bitter, angry, mob:  CHANGE THE ENDING!
Bioware: Okay, we're going to trying this again.  No, we're not fundamentally changing the ending, but we'll try to have it make sense for you.
Bitter, angry mob: WE HAVE IRRATIONAL EXPECTATIONS AND WE WANT THEM GIVEN TO US NOW!
Bioware: (shakes head)

Now, in the spirit of total fairness, that above does not tell the whole story either.  To do that, we'd have to go to before the game was ever produced and to where Casey Hudson started running his mouth on **** he had to have known there was no way the people under him could meet.

So, after three weeks of his mouth writing checks his team's asses couldn't cash, we THEN get to the scenario listed above.

Actually, they made several false claims, mere weeks prior to the game's release, after the game had been completed. This is not an issue akin to Peter Molyneux's pre-release behavior; it's rather worse. I'm sure some folks had irrational expectations (and in some cases those expectations were the result of the lies told, so BW can only blame themselves for it)...but overall folks expected an ending that was on par with previous iterations of the game, that followed basic narrative flow and adhered to the very lore that had been previously established. That's actually a very rational expectation.

This ending was so bad that it single-handily destroyed my interest in EA games. I loved DA2, ME2 and 99% of ME3. But after this, no.

If extended cut fails to fix the ending, then purchasing anything more from this company is out of the question. I will play the games I already own, sure, but other than that, GOODBYE.

Pretty much, this. The EC is BioWare's chance to get me invested in their games again. I tried playing ME3 yesterday after not having played a full month. After saving Samara I just thought to myself "what's the point" and turned off the game. MP doesn't interest me at all, so I hope EC will add enough content to make it worth finishing the 4rd playthrough and checking out the endings of the first two (one is an Insanity NG+) again.

Exactly. Why bother investing in any future IP's if you know that even if 99% are good, the last 1% has zero payoff and makes no sense.
