I am still not understanding you. Are you saying that either everyone has to stay on Earth or everyone has to be stranded on the planet? If so, that doesn't make sense to me. If it becomes clear that Bioware is not going to delete the Normandy scene for whatever reason (as you suggested, they want to keep the Adam and Eve thing perhaps), they can still compromise with fans by showing that your LI refused to board the Normandy and flee with the rest, or whatever.

And what if you didn't survive? Do they still end up on Earth? I don't want to spend even a moment thinking about the combinations.

If you're going to have random squad members left on Earth, you mostly obviate any message you were trying to convey with the crash scene (if anything, it's even more pointless, since everybody will just keep the ones they care most about, and Joker can die alone for all anybody cares anymore). If there really was an actual reason to quarantine the squad, they're not going to undo that by letting you pick off a couple members while the rest stay (either the reason is insufficient to prevent rescuing the squad, or the whole squad stays where they are).

Now, sure, they could do something like just make sure the people who you had at the beam never pop out of the Normandy and then let you imagine whatever you want, but I'm assuming these epilogue sequences are actually going to have some substance to them, and I will not be satisfied if the possibility of a reunion requires just as much belief in fairy tales as the current ending.

The problem is not rescuing the crew. They can do that if they want (it's just a hand-wave away, like all the other nonsense in the ending). If this is what you were speaking to (that they couldn't come up with a way to rescue the Normandy), I don't think yours is really a solution they'd consider, due to the incredible amount of variation. They'll just have Tali (or Adams, if she took the plunge) fix the engines and fly everybody home if they decide the squad isn't trapped.

What is it about having everyone on the Normandy as opposed to everyone minus two that would preserve the meaning of the Normandy scene? Is the meaning of the Normandy scene not that they are starting over on a new world, new beginnings, etc? What about having your LI and second favorite squadmate be on Earth instead destroys that symbolism?

This thread is about the Shepard lives scenario so I haven't given thought to how you work the squadmates' fate in Control/Synthesis.

It's probably not wise to get your hopes up.

My hopes are "Rock falls everyone dies" and I'm not sure they can get much lower.

Mine are in the pit too. They have ten minutes so I won't rule everything out.

Although they will have truly lost their minds if they don't do this in at least ONE scenario. It's so simple it's not even funny.

What if your LI was from ME2? Those LI's got messed up in earlier parts of ME3 before the part the DLC will cover.

Taboo i'm really looking forward to your reaction tomorrow. You more than anyone else on these boards truly believes that they'll expand on the Shepard Lives scenario in Perfect Destroy. I want this too, I want it wicked bad. But I don't think people should get their hopes up. If they don't deliver on this, i'll be curious about your reaction Image IPB

I can head canon it if need be. The fact remains that I cannot possibly know but I can makes estimates based upon experience.

If Shepard survives, it won't be hard to do something in my head. Hudson and Walters cannot touch me there.

Miranda is on Earth, so this isn't difficult to do.

It changes the impact of the imagery. If the people you care about (the ending already tries to show you your romance and best friend) are no longer stranded, it goes from "new beginnings" for those who are most important to you to "sucks that I'll never see those guys again, but whatever".

Anyway, let's not take this any further. I hate this sequence nearly beyond my ability to describe, and I think we'd all be much happier to not even acknowledge that it exists. :-)

I doubt they will do it. My POV is that they simply don't want a "best" ending so people who chose any other ending feel left out.

I mean look at what they did to decision making and para/renegade throughout ME3.
