Hey all. I could not find this question answered as a topic so please forgive me if I missed something. Also, a search turned up nada.

I have begun to go back and try to play Mass Effect 1 for PC in order to bring a fresh Shepard through 2 and then on into 3.
On Feros the only way you can save the colony is to avoid killing Ethan Jeong.
Some folks argue this point, but it is moot. I have tried every other avenue. The first time I just let it go, but now its bugging me.

Is there any way to fix my game so that both the paragon and renegade options aren't greyed out and I can save Jeong from my Shepard smack-down? I have a maxed out paragon score so that isn't the problem. Please help.

Fist, it is not true that you have to not kill Ethan Jeong to save the colony. Whether he lives or dies is pretty inconsequential. Anyway, from what I remember, going the paragon route to not kill him is a little tricky if not glitched (you either have to have pretty high paragon or pretty high charm points, or both), but I believe intimidation does work more easily.

So you used the console to edit paragon then?

I just recently completed a run through and for the first time I wasn't allowed NOT to kill this character. Afterward I checked and I did not have the maximum of Charm built up. I suspect that was the reason. So make sure, before you get there, your Charm is set to max.
