If the extended cut or any future DLC fails to rectify what you found so distasteful about the ending, will you come crawling back, when ME4 comes out, what about JE2 or DA3?
Lots of people are saying they will leave EA/BW/ME games for good, then others keep saying "pfft, no they won't, they are just being dramatic"
So which is it? I'm curious?
Simply put, after DA:A, DA2 and ME3 Bioware has lost me as a sure pre-order customer. Now I'm on the wait and see camp. I'm not masochistic : if Bioware makes a good game (and his devs are still capable of it) why should I avoid buying it?
Btw, in my opinion ME3 is the best of the last Bioware games. There is really no comparison between ME3 and DA2 in term of quality. I'm really annoyed for the rushed and sub-par endings but the rest of the game while not perfect as many critics would like us to believe, is still very good.
I'm more angry for their business practices: forced Origin to PC players, forced MP/App, no Steam, day 1 DLCs central to the plot, blatant marketing lies, extreme serialization/commercialization (from facebook, to novels, to comics: there is a point when it's too much).

I'll just say that I won't buy anything they produce on Day 1. And it has to be rather exceptional to get me to purchase after that. That seems reasonable, right?
The debate is I don't see myself returning to Mass Effect games in particular either way. It's just going to be a comic book style mess.

I won't quit them for good, but they won't see any of my money. Until they change their behavior (i.e. not lying about their products to generate false hype, treating their customers properly pre and post release, getting back to their roots and making good RPGs instead of trying to make multi-genre game titles) I will be buying their games used.
This, mostly. But I don't even know if I'll be buying used games if they continue in the vein of quality BioWare has produced since DA2. In fact, I'd even go as far to say that DA:O was BioWare's last truly great game. Mass Effect 2 is so disconnected from the other two games it's not even funny, and ME3... well. There are /several/ issues with that game. The rushed beginning, the rushed end, the horrible character-gutting Kai LEng and TIM got, the non-sensical Citadel coup, the non-sensical logic of the starbrat, the non-sensical logic of the Reapers taking over and MOVING THE CITADEL instad of shutting down the relays, the autodialogue, the horrible texture quality, the amount of choices that didn't matter...
Well, at the very least, the gameplay was good, the voice-acting superb, and the Genophage and Quar/Geth subplots came to beautiful conclusions, no matter what your choices were-- but at least some of them mattered here.

I really don't many other issues with the endings, at least ones that I'm not willing to block out like a traumatic event.

If it had a score of 0, but had Morrigan, Merrill and/or Alistar in it, I'd buy it in a hearbeat lol.zambot wrote...

I'm also relatively optimistic about DA3, as anything wrong with DA2 that couldn't be explained by the abbreviated development schedule were simple, honest mistakes. And I can forgive those. It's the calculated crap that bothers me. But the DA guys seem full of ****** and vinegar with something to prove. I'll give 'em a day in court.
I'll say that my faith in BioWare is dinged quite a bit. But not entirely broken.

This is it for me. Make it or break it. If EC fails, BW will actually never see a dime from my pocket again.

What's the point of the Metacritic Score anyway? We have allready seen that most times for AAA games the metacritic score is not really trustworthy. It's became a fetish in the gaming community. Better to find a critic who has similar tastes and expectations and trust him.

I like how you use the term "crawl," in attempts to insinuate those who remain as being weak or desperate. Nevertheless, I play Bioware games because I enjoy them, not because I expect my demands to be met. When I lose interest in what they produce, then I will leave. But that time is not now or for sometime. And yes, I will continue to pre-order and pay for DLC (when it does come out).
No, not at all. In my country "crawling back" is when someone talks big, but never follows through and tries to appease the person they were annoyed with.
If you never said "I WILL BOYCOT" you can't really crawl back, because you never left. See?

Maybe I'll still buy some game of theirs that's unrelated to the Mass Effect universe, provided that it's any good.
See, I even liked Dragon Age 2 up to a point: it had its redeeming qualities alongside all those obvious flaws, and I enjoyed many aspects of the story even though I was disgusted with the railroading that took place near the end.
But I feel that the current ending to Mass Effect 3 is so glaringly incongruous, so badly written, and so fatally at odds with everything that came before that it permanently spoils that fictional universe. And I simply won't be able to enjoy another game set in that universe if that piece of horrible writing remains canonical. It's already corrupted my impression of the games that came before.
Now, I'm still retaining a small amount of hope for the EC, but it's faint.

Was this an actual quote from a developer, or were the quote marks used for dramatic effect?
As far as whether the EC will affect my decision to check out future BW games, not really. I had a Corolla once, crappy car. Hated it. Didn't keep me from getting a Yaris later on.
dramatic effect. The quote is from me

But like many here i will wait for real reviews and possibly a price drop before buying.
What i will not be doing are any more pre-orders.

Its a safe bet to say when new ME game is announced they will be back here despite what they said. Some people hated the 2 previous games and they still hang around here.
I would buy another ME game and I have said I would not buy EA again, but I have an IF and that IF is "if the series is not fixed in DLC or a future game".
If ME4 retcons or uses IT or does something to make the plot cohesive again, of course I would buy it. But until then I am at the very least going to be buying used or somehow avoiding any money going into their pockets, even if that means not even buying new from the bargain bin.

Fair point, except I disagree about DA2 after playing ME3, DA2 is a very nice game on PC. Love it more the ME3, that's for sure.

I will probably still get DA3 if it's any good but not before reading (positive) fan reviews.

I won't write BioWare off completely but I will not be pre ordering any of their games (any game with the EA stamp on it in fact) for a long time to come. I do not trust BioWare enough any more to purchase their games without unbiased (read: fan) reviews telling me that it's worthy of buying.

A lot of people are saying they'll get DA3. Interesting. I'm tempted to look into it still, even if the EC sucks, I will be making sure none of the money goes to EA or BW tho, so used it is IF it is good. IF.
