So... in Origins, we had the darkspawn, who looked like this:

...and we had the Broodmothers, who look like this
https://encrypted-tb...lfTMPyIpZ16Wre

Then, in DA2 we had the darkspawn look like THIS...

...so what do you think the broodmother's would look like in DA2?

Post your picture/description below!

Adventure time reference!

And honestly, I truly feel that this...

*shudders*

On topic: I'm afraid that future broodmothers will look like some sort of weird bunny-spider-chimpanzee chimera.

Although future readers....

Coming from you, TEWR, I was expecting a gorilla reference.

I dare not smear the awesomeness that is gorillas with such talk. They should not be blasphemed in such a way.

Although, given what the new Genlocks look like -- a change I approve of truth be told -- I can honestly say that I might expect that to be done. The taint does warp size regarding what the Darkspawn type looks like in comparison to the race they originated from -- meaning Ogres are twice as tall as Kossith, Genlocks are a bit bulkier then Dwarves, etc.

And since the Dwarven broodmothers are pretty massive and Genlocks are kinda gorilla-esque in appearance/movement I can see the Dwarven broodmothers being made slightly gorilla-esque in some areas.

But they better not look like a gorilla monstrosity. That's just blaspheming the awesomeness that is gorillas. So maybe some slight similarities due to the taint, but nothing that besmirches gorillas everywhere.

Personally, I tought the appearance of Darkspawn was greatly improved in Legacy.
The genlock look less like generic goblins. Can you tell me this is not a lot more intimidanting?

And the Hurlock Alphas are genuinely creepy.
Posted Image

The Hurlocks still look like something out of a Power Rangers cartoon but considering the two example above, I don't think future broodmothers will be any less repulsive than they are supposed to be.

1st pic, a bulldog on stereoids.
2nd pic, rip off from LotR, Mouth of Sauron.

Both bad.

Armor wise I think the new Darkspawn suck now.

But appearance wise? Genlocks, Genlock Alphas, and Hurlock Alphas get my approval.

The rest can go die in a car fire and have a nuclear bomb dropped on them for safe measure, unless Bioware improves them to the point where they look... well... distinct and terrifying.

hmmm... I might approve of the new Hurlocks, but only if they had these traits:

1) More bloody, dirty, tainted, and less shiny white
2) Had different noses (some being torn or ripped), and have some who have the original Hurlock type nose
3) wore armor that actually looks like the original Darkspawn armor, or something that looks half-assed.
4) had sharp teeth again
5) had monstrous tattoos again
6) lose their hair. That made them look more like Uruk-Hai for me, so the hair needs to go.
7) appeared in high level of detail on all platforms.
8) The Hurlock Emissaries -- since I remember Bioware saying all we would see in DAII's base game were Hurlocks and Ogres -- need to drop the S&M gear on the face and the pointy ears.

and to go even further

For Ogres, they need:

1) Less mushed up face
2) Completely gray or completely purple
3) Soulless eyes
4) A return to the DAO teeth that they had. There is a difference between the two sets of teeth

For Genlocks:

1) Tinker around with the color scheme. Most people would like them to not be beige. Me? I couldn't care less about their color. I love the new design. The Genlocks in Origins were the only ones that needed an overhaul, and the new design works
2) Make the Genlock Alphas taller than regular Genlocks like they are now, but smaller than Hurlock Grunts. Or just make the Hurlock grunts taller than the Alphas, and the Hurlock Alphas are also given a height boost.
3) Bring back Genlock Emissaries. Since the Darkspawn use the taint in their bodies to use magic -- per a DG post somewhere on here I believe -- there's no issue with Genlock Emissaries.

For Shrieks:

1) a return to the DAO style (color scheme and sharp teeth included)
2) drop the protrusions from the old style
3) move the ears down
4) give them a more elf-like body. Looking at the old design, they seem to have pointed feet, while the new design has more normal-esque feet.
5) make their heads more narrow and have less of a giant forehead.
6) Give us some Shriek Emissaries.

And I also want to get armor like that of the Disciples in-game

That **** was positively badass. Hell, give me a Disciple companion and I'll be happy too.

1-Regardless, it's an improvement over the original genlocks.
2-Having bad teeth and most of its face covered does not make it a rip off of the Mouth of Sauron. I think it looks appropriately terrifying.

The original Hurlocks were perfect. They look like a human who was skinned alive. Gorgeous and it fits their origin.

There are Shrieks in DAII?

Not in-game no, but there was an image that showed what they looked like. The file is in the game I believe, as people have brought it out for various reasons

Like Isabela kissing one.

Not the word I would've used for the Hurlocks Posted Image.

I don't think the original hurlocks were perfect, but they were definitely better then what DAII gave us IMO.

And poor Fast Jimmy. His joke thread has turned deadly serious. No one wants to post jokey images/descriptions of broodmother changes. Posted Image

Correct. Right next to the Genlock grunt is the shriek. You can find close-up images of it, and it's just as bad if not worse when you see it up close. IMO anyway.

The original was better if we were to compare the two, but I do think the original needed some tweaks here and there.

It looks like an Hurlock with a bucket on its head. And not even the scary looking ones.

@OP - They'd probably look just as bad as everyone and everything else in the game did.

Wow, no wonder the darkspawn in DA2 look so bloody awful - you look towards some strange sources for inspiration, Bioware.

Makes you wonder what those Broodmother rituals are really all about - something tells me hatchets, Faygo, and s***ty rap music are involved in some capacity, and that the whole "kill and cannibalize your own kin" thing is just a cover-up to hide the embarrassment of having partaken in a Juggalo suckfest.

Given how different the human Broodmother in Awakenings looked from the Dwarven one, I'd love to see a Shriek or a Qunari Broodmother...

...Maker's Manscaping, can you imagine how many Ogres would be around a Qunari Broodmother?

Really Bioware? LOL

I thought darkspawn were meant to look tainted, corrupt and terrifying? This looks like a generic fantasy goblin. He's even got a big smile too and I could easily imagine him being an ally. The design looks good for a goblin but not for a darkspawn.
