Or are they still taking in fan feedback etc?

Also as a sidenote did they ever give any hits about what was meant to happen in the expansion that got scrapped. sorry if any of this has been asked recentley

1. We don't know, but I'd assume that they have already started working on it.

2. The expansion was to be called Exalted March, and it was going to involve Hawke.

From what I understand from an interview with Ms. Hepler, they have just finished preproduction and have started actual production rather recently.

But I'm assuming it's a pretty safe bet that there is a DA3.

This. And I'd imagine for the past year they've been laying the basic premise of the game out. It wouldn't surprise me to see the expansion merged into DA3 or at least a part of it...

You'd have to think even with the expansion in development, Bioware's core was already laying the foundation for DA3 in concept stages. I think we'll see it come out late next year or right before the new consoles come out.

Christmas 2013 is the date I'd shoot for. They'll have had, what, 2 and a half years by then, plus the xmas boost in sales.

I'm guessing it'll be out by November 2013.

I'd also bet DA3 being out sometime 2013. Though, with the way feedback on DA2 was like, if it were me I'd release the game in a month that wouldn't be up against any AAA game.

I think they've been developing the game for months now & that much of the cancelled expansion pack will be restructured to be added to da3. That's my impression from what Hepler said on the official blog, and also comments from other staff here on the forums. Technically it hasn't even been announced, but I'm guessing it'll be released in mid to late 2013.

nah, I do not think EA will ever put a game other than sports and military shooter in holiday season.
A release date in spring 2014 is more likely

Omfg,we have better technology now and its easier to make games than before,DA2 took less than a year, and all of its bad unpolished parts would be gone in 6 more months of production.2013 is the perfect date.Bioware started working on the next dragon age game(obviusly DA3) in May 2011.In May 2012 there was an interview that says that Bioware is almost finished with writing the next DA game, and that now they are moving to the production of the game(making the game itself) and since the tehnology is very advanced and they stated that they will use the same game engine as DA2 for DA3 year and a half is more than enough time for them to make the game.As i stated they already finished with the writing and they don't have to make a new engine(thats 50% of the work) 1 year and a half is enough time to polish it so hard :D

Well, it seems they recently entered production so a fall 2013 release sounds just right...

There's been a few hints on twitter and various other places that suggest that they've at least started production, other than that I've no idea. I doubt we'll hear anything new about it until the ME3 hype dies down.

Great... So the community is now forecasting another 1 yr + a couple months dev cycle as a positive thing?

FFS... I realize that more dev time does not equal quality product, but rushed product usually does equal **** product.

I would be MORE than happy if they made the next Dragon age game for next generation console platforms (and of course, PC) and shot for a late 2014 to late 2015 release. Give this a good 2.5 to 3 year gestation period so that DA:O fans can have the sequel they've been waiting for.

Not officially, but since they've posted "What do you think about X" threads (or one anyways), we can be sure they're at least in the finger steepling, evil chuckling, bourbon sipping in a thunderstorm phase.

From what little we know it looks as though DA3 is going to wrap up a lot of loose ends and we have no idea if a save import from a 360/ps3 to their next gen equivalents will even be possible. There'll very likely be at least two years between the releases, which isn't rushed as far as reused-engine-and-asset sequels go. Assuming it's using the same engine and art with tweaks of course.

I hate to necro this thread but good god, I hope they're not shooting for Q4 2013. People (I) could be completely over this franchise by then. The world could be. I can see if they had just released and AMAZING game or DL pack like GTAIV or something, which btw, gave us more content than DA2 did, but I don't think people will have much enthusiasm if they have to wait that long for a new DA game after so many people disliked DA2 (though admittedly, I was not one of them). Especially with so many other medieval type RPGs starting to establish their franchise footing, i.e. Skyrim/TESO, The Witcher, Dragon's Dogma, so on and so forth.

I really wish they hadn't stopped production on future content if they were going to make us wait almost 3 years. But then again, it did take them almost 3 years to go from ME1 to ME2.

Bioware has stated multiple times that they plan to, by and large, move forward with the direction they took in DA2. The length of the development cycle is irrelevent, they will not return to the style used in Origins.
