Why does Sten return to his homeland at the end of the game if he hasn't found his sword?
Won't they kill him?<_<

Possibly, though he still has a report to give to the Arishok. He still has a duty to the Qun, even if his fate is sealed.
But there's no guarantee that he doesn't find it along the way. For all we know he stops by Lake Calenhad, sees the guy looting Qunari corpses, interrogates him, and then gets his sword back on his own by finding Feryn and Dwyn.
Indeed, that's what I feel will happen -- or something similar -- because I believe Sten will become the new Arishok and lead a Qunari invasion of Thedas at the end of DAIII. We know that hornless Kossith -- of which Sten is -- are destined for greatness and DAII's Black Emporium had a codex that hinted at Sten being important to the future of the series.
