I love how they put the Allers pic at the top of the article. Pictures really are worth a thousand words sometimes.

Because that's how he felt?

I'm not having a dig, but it was pretty empassioned and obviously an attempt to get his feelings out there.

Either his account was hacked, it's not him, or someone high up in the chain of command took issue with it.

His account wasn't hacked, he said so himself, we know it was him from the accounts previous posts, so the latter is the most obvious.

I don't have a problem with that. Pretty unprofessional no matter how much I agree.

We still don't have any facts that proves either side absolutely right or absolutely wrong.

However, the problem is that the linked article uses the leak as an undeniable fact. Basing articles on unconfirmed evidence is never a good thing.

The problem isn't the act of leaving to the audience's imagination, but what you choose to leave.
In this case, the uncertainty of Mass Effect's biggest feature (characters and their relationship with Shepard) being left in the air damages the storytelling a lot. I'm pretty sure everyone that dislikes the ending considers the obscurity of the characters' future to be one of the reason why the ending is so bad.

When he mentioned that fans seemed to believe the galaxy was left in ruins no matter what players did, he failed to make reference to any of the numerous complaints of plot holes, framing complaints firmly within the context of closure.

This is exactly what I keep saying, they're admitting a small error to avoid admitting the true, much larger failures.

I love how you people can derive insults out of absolutely nothing. I swear Casey and Mac could give everyone a hundred dollar bill along with a thoughtful hand written apology, and you'd stil find some reason to be outraged.

Nah, a hundred bucks would more than cover the cost of the game I bought.  And an apology is always appreciated, if sincere.

But however much the endings are "explained" as long as they remain as-is, they're still the same terrible endings they were back in March.  Nothing has been gained.

That's a big assumption. They can keep the money, just a sincere apology and admittance of a failure would suffice, in my opinion...

The article reads like what I think. BioWare selectively listens to the people who fit their minimum-admission scenario and refuse to believe anything is wrong with the concept.

The EC is a guaranteed failure at this point.

Agreed. BioWare only listens to the feedback they want to hear. The EC will fail in my eyes.

No, that's gameinformer.  About on par with IGN for impartiality.

Yep. They gave the game a 10/10 and ignored the bugs, glitches and said "Stop whining about the ending." That's not being objective at all. ME3, even if the ending was great, does not deserve a 10/10. A 10/10 means a game is flawless. Not even ME3 with a good ening would be flawless.

Normally I'm all for piling on the ending, but if the complaint of this article is that choice still doesn't matter, then what about Bioware's statement that one of the points of the EC was to personalize the ending? And don't epilogue scenes almost entirely owe their existence not only to closure, but to finding out how your decisions mattered?

If you have a brain and are able to use it objectively then you can see evidence for what it is.
A post explaining what happened was made with Weekes' account.
Weekes's himself used the account the day before and the day after the post in question was made.
He confirmed and the site confirmed that Weekes' account had not been hacked in any way.
Weekes' was asked about the ending at a gaming convention and essentially repeated what the post said.

Him saying he didn't write it is meaningless since he admitted the only way it could have been fake didn't happen.

Bioware has claimed multiple times that the problem is not the ending but the fans who simply cannot understand Bioware's artistic vision. That can easily be interpreted as an insult.

So now we're comparing Mass Effect to the works of Kubrick and Dick?

Too bad that, up until the last 5 minutes of the final game, Mass Effect wasn't anything like a Kubrick or Dick story, nor was it intended to be.

A tonal shift that profound, right at the very end, is a mistake. It doesn't matter how intellectually stimulating it might be. It doesn't fit with the other 99% of the content that preceded it.

And I agree with the author of the article. Mac and Casey still don't get it, and they never will.

Yeah when you watch those two talk, they claim they are listening, but the feeling you get is that they only listen to what they want to hear. It will not end well, for them or anyone.

I'm guessing when that point is raised, it's referring to the decision of rejecting the Catalyst's options that it offers.

BioWare didn't give what I was promised, so you're damn right I'm going to complain. Don't like it? Tough nuts. I'm not going to accept this crap.

In that case the complaint is framed as, "No matter what my previous decisions were, I still get the same choices at the end." But that was the case in ME1 and ME2 as well. I think the larger complaint with more weight is that no matter what decisions you made in the first 3 games, the ENDINGS you see are the same, and that is different and much more damning, in my opinion.

The latter is what Bioware has said they want to fix, and I'm all for that.

Bioware has said no such thing. All they said was that there were things about the ending that were interpreted in a way they did not intend. There is no insult there, just a lot of cognitive dissonance.

The leak's veracity or not is rather tangential to the article's actual point though. By focusing in on that you're ignoring the majority of useful arguments brought up.

It's rather the same situation the article is pointing out, even. Casey and Mac are focusing on one criticism to the exclusion of the others.

the ending of the trilogy was an insult, telling us our choices mattered-insult, saying there was much more leeway in the endings, they weren't bound by another game-insult.....implying that we just didn't understand the end so they need to add some explanations-insult....

i spent 80 on the game, so 100 would be overkill....i would have accepted a blanket internet posted apology that said 'our ending was lacking, we didn't live up to our claims, we're going to release some DLC to try to rectify this'
