This thread is for fans of The Wheel of Time series, I am curius what people thought of the new book The Gathering Storm, being written by Bardon Sanderson as it was.

Well I just finished The Gathering Storm and I found it to be quite satisfying if a bit diffrent. I've never read anything from Mr. Sanderson before and did not know what to expect.
There where of few things I did't like, most of all the way some characters, mostly Mat, did'nt "feel" the same anymore. It's difficult finding the right word to describe it. Somehow they did not say or do the same things, only I can't pointout any singel thing that is wrong, it just is. Anyone else felt like this?

P.S Don't mind the grammar or spelling, I'm from Sweden...

If he wraps up and puts away some of the dozens of completely extraneous characters Jordan flooded us with, and doesn't introduce new ridiculously gratuitous subplots of insane inanity, I will be satisfied.

Got the book for Hubby for Christmas. Won't read it until after he does.

I thought Brandon Sanderson did a really good job. I do know what you mean by feeling different somehow. It was clear to me that there was a different sense of humour through the book. Also some of the character names just didn't sound like names Jordan would've used.

Plot wise it is a MUST READ. There is at least two OMG jaw on the floor moments.

I have read some of Sanderson's books, and he's a good writer. I think he took on a trememdous task trying to finish Jordans loooong series. I started reading it and realized that I had to go back and read the one before this last one because I forgot what it was about. It had been so long since I read it.

I started reading the series a few years back but stopped around book 6 for some reason (I enjoyed it, can't recall why I stopped). May have to go back and read the whole thing since it's complete.

Not complete yet... Book 13 in 2010 and then book 14 in 2011 will finish it. Brandon Sanderson said that Robert Jordan wrote the ending before he died so no matter if Sanderson's style is different, the story will end the way Jordan wanted.

Really? I had heard this was supposed to be the last book. Gives me plenty of time to catch up before they're out though.

It was supposed to be the final book, but it turned out to be three times as long as a normal book so TOR decided to cut it up in to three "parts".
