I'm happy with the variety of weapons to choose from, but I feel that there should be more 'alien' weapons. Most weapons are of human design or are blocky and industrial-looking enough to appear human-made.

There should be more weapons that share the organic, flowing designs of the Disciple and Scorpion (i.e: more asari/salarian/geth guns).

Lastly, Reapers should be represented in the armoury; we know they have hand-held infantry weapons, like the Blackstar, so why not give us an energy-based Reaper assault rifle/sniper rifle/shotgun?

If I had to choose any weapon that suits players of any skill level, it's the Geth Plasma Shotgun. It can reach out to near-sniper ranges, packs tremendous power (charged or not), and literally aims for you

The Javelin has been my baby since I first heard of it before the game's release; I love a good Beam Rifle. That said, I've recently taken a liking to the Crusader for its versatility and charming 'whoomp' sound.

Sure.

"Do you feel there is a weapon that fills every niche and level?"
No. When I promote my infiltrator I always feel weird bringing my usual weapons (Widow/BW/Javelin/Reegar/Claymore) to bronze/silver. It's OP, unnecessary. Using anything else is inefficient.

"With the above questions in mind, which is your favourite weapon overall?"
M-98 Widow.

Do you feel there is a good range of weaponry to choose from?

Yes, there is a great selection. However, I wish there were more SMGs to choose from, it's pretty slim pickings. All the other gun categories have a great selection.

Do you feel there is a weapon that fills every niche and level?

Pretty much. I wouldn't mind having other heavy weapon options instead of the rocket launcher though. It's not required, but might be nice.

With the above questions in mind, which is your favourite weapon overall?

My personal faves are the Widow, Black Widow, Phalanx, Carnifex, Arc Pistol and the Mattock.

There is a great range of weaponry in the game, unfortunately once you have certain weapons you wont use the other weapons at all.

Do you feel there is a weapon that fills every niche and level

Yes there is a lot of weapons for all levels of play from rookie to expert, unfortunately if you have a high grade weapon there is no point in using the low grade weapons at all even if your a rookie (ie. if you have a Valiant or Widow there is no point in using a Mantis at all)

With the above questions in mind, which is your favourite weapon overall?

Of the Ultra Rares.
The Cerberus Harrier, The Saber, and The Talon.

Of the Rares.
The Falcon, The Claymore, and The Disciple.

Of the Uncommons.
The Phaeston, The Vindicator, and The Viper.

Overall there are many great weapons in the game, unfortunately the RNG makes it so that on your first day you could get a Black Widow or a Cerberus Harrier and if you do get weapons of that grade you'll never use any of lower grade weapons at all missing out on some of the best guns in the game do to the overwhelming power of the Ultra Rare weapons.

There is a range but not that I got much of a choice given my poor aiming skills with sniper guns in general (with the exception of Indra which works more like an assault rifle with a scope; makes it easier to use than Saber/Mattock). One missed shot felt like the end of the world - Kishock Harpoon seemed to be the worst among them.

Among SMGs, only the Geth one works best for me (but only in bronze).

Carnifex is the best among pistols, cos I find Paladin's range too short and Talon too slow.

Some assault rifles are like SMGs with longer range, both of which I seldom use.

The best for me is still Geth Plasma Shotgun (in bronze and silver); require little aiming and takes down enemies in one/two shots. Downside is the charging requirement that makes it impossible to take cover to recover lost shield.

Yes

No. The rapid fire weapons need some TLC. There are really only a few that are effective at gold, and the rest all pretty much do the same thing (spray with little effect) just at different ranges and speeds. They either need to be made more effective overall so the differences show through; or further specialized so they each actually do something well, while remaining ineffective at everything else.

I think my fav is probably the Arc Pistol... I even liked it before the buffs. I think it's the crack it makes.

1. Yes. There is a ton of weapons you can choose from.

2. Almost. I feel you're missing a lighter, but weaker, falcon. The Falcon is great for instantly stunning people (allowing me to pull of a projectile biotic without being dodged), but can weigh a bit much really hampering cooldowns. I'd just like a light gun that you fire, do little or even no damage, but provides an instant stun on the target, opening them up for an undodgeable attack.

3. Reeger, GPS, Claymore, Falcon, Hornet, Black Widow.

BioWare has done a great job in creating a good variety of weapons and I can't think of something that is missing from the arsenal at the moment. I think at this point, it's a hard job for you guys to get ideas for new weapons.
But I have another idea. There is a number of weapons in the game, that very few people use. If you can't think of any new weapons to make, you can balance the already existing weapons. I check the balance changes regularly and I see that you try to buff some of these weapons a little and that worked in some cases (like the Javelin) but not all. There are rare and even ultra rare weapons that are used only by people who haven't yet realized that these weapons are far behind others.
What I mean is that some weapons need SERIOUS buffs in damage in order to stay in competition... not just 5-10% more damage, but MORE.
Please take a look at weapons like the Wraith, Arc Pistol, Graal, Phaeston, Geth Pulse rifle, Locust,Eviscerator, Scorpion, Paladin.

Let's take the Paladin for example: the idea of the Paladin is that you sacrifice considerable weight capacity in order to have more damage. The problem is that a Carnifex X has the same damage as a low level Paladin, but with Carnifex you can easily have 200% weight capacity and it has higher clip size. In short, if you have a Carnifex X, you have to play around 1 year in order to get a Paladin X, cos otherwise there is no point in using it. It needs more damage. Bigger clip size won't hurt too, but if it doesn't get dmg buff, there won't be much point in using it.

About the Phaeston and Geth pulse rifle: Their idea is to have a light fully automatic and accurate assault rifle, a weapon that combines well with power users. The problem is, both weapons are outclassed by a simple weapon that you get from level 1 - the Avenger. It just makes them obsolete.

Arc pistol and scorpion - both have much too low damage compared to their weight. The arc pistol needs at least weight reduction. The scorpion's disadvantage is a VERY serious one - you can get killed while you wait for its projectiles to explode. So why the heck can't you make it 1 hit kill every trooper and lieutenant level enemy on silver difficulty? It needs some testing but I think it will be balanced, considering the high waiting time and low capacity.

Wraith - I'd call it an epic fail, considering that it is an Ultra rare. First of all it needs like DOUBLE more spare ammo. Yeah, I know there is a weapon mod for that, but this weapon needs other mods. Or you can give it an additional slot for a weapon mod - why the heck not? Other weak weapons could use that too! And one more thing about the Wraith - considering its low ROF, it has very low damage. Needs to have at least 1/2 of the Claymore's damage.

Locust and Eviscerator - their damage is so low, it's like you tickle the enemies with them. At least make the enemies laugh while you tickle them cos otherwise they rape you. The Locust received a damage boost a while ago but it was not NEARLY enough to make it worth using.

So these are my suggestions - in short, make the mostly unused weapons more used by buffing them as much as they need. If I get any ideas about new weapons I will share them. Keep up the good work, BioWare.

There is a really good, varied range to select from, but there is only one niche I can't seem to fill (and I think if I ever unlock the Harrier it might be exactly what I'm looking for).

I love the Avenger and for "casters" it's my favourite weapon to use to keep 200% recharge bonus. I wish, however, that there was a good upgraded version of it. Something full auto with good sized clip, reasonable accuracy and then probably a lot heavier to make up for higher damage.

The Mattock has great DPS and accuracy if you can pull the trigger fast enough and keep it on target. The Revenant has good DPS but so much spread and recoil that it's hard to use for anything but close range.

As for my all-time favourite weapon: the Paladin.

Paladin I actually has better damage than a Carnifex X by a fair bit (and the same RoF, thus better DPS).

There are many weapons to choose from.

The only niche that isn't filled by anything reliable is an automatic weapon. Since you have to be out of cover for a while, none of them deal sufficient damage for the associated risk.

My favorites are the Revenant, Carnifex, and Talon.

There is a good variety of weaponry, but some of the weapons are so weak as to be unusable or nearly unusable on Gold, which limits player choice and makes practical weapon selection limited to a few guns in each category. Automatic weapons in particular need some new ideas, since most of the automatic weapons are either too low-powered to compete with semi-automatics (Eagle, Avenger, Phaeston), useless against armor (Tempest, Locust, Geth SMG), or extremely difficult to acquire (Hurricane, Indra, Harrier). The Revenant is the only fully-automatic weapon in the loadout that is both easy to acquire and able to hold its own against the better grades of semi-automatic weapons. This leaves players who dislike the Revenant without a good full-auto weapon if they haven't unlocked any automatic ultra-rares yet. Other weapon sets, like shotguns and snipers, have a huge difference in performance between their lightweight and heavyweight weapons, to the point that any character that doesn't rely on non-stop power spam to survive (like the infamous Novaguard) is usually better off using the heavier weapons and neglecting their cooldown somewhat. The Katana, Scimitar, Disciple, and Eviscerator are rarely used because the Graal, Geth Plasma Shotgun, Claymore, and Reegar Carbine are so much better than the other shotguns that using one of the first set of shotguns amounts to handicappign oneself (for most players). The same effect is in place for snipers, where the Viper, Incisor, and Raptor are rendered obsolete by the Widow, the Krysae, and the Valiant.

"Do you feel there is a weapon that fills every niche and level?"
(e.g. - From low: "Give this weapon to the rookie so he doesn't hurt him/herself or anyone else for that matter" to High: "This weapon makes things go away just by its mere presence on the battlefield", and everything in between)

The only weapon that is both newbie-friendly and extremely powerful is the Geth Plasma Shotgun. Most of the other weapons work well for certain skills and playstyles, but are prevented from being universally useful by either weight, reserve ammo capacity, or damage. Alltogether, the weaponset we currently have fills almost all of the skill levels and playstyle niches (except for a few playstyles relying on automatic weapons - see my answer to question one). As other people have mentioned, however, some weapons fill multiple roles (like the Carnifex, due to its weight) and some weapons don't fit in anywhere (like the Locust, due to its damage).

"With the above questions in mind, which is your favourite weapon overall?" I am not asking which you think is the "best", only which one do you simply like to play with most of all.

My favorite weapons are the Revenant, the Wraith, and the Incisor. Unfortunately, each one's quirky performance makes it suited only for certain specific types of characters, which limits how I can use them.

Image IPB

Yes, it has better damage, but only around 15% better, judging by the pic. Considering that its weight is more that double the weight of the Carnifex and clip size is smaller, I think it needs buffing. Pistols are mainly used by power users and sacrificing so much weight capacity is not worth it for such little damage increase.

I love that there's a ton of weapons available for those of us who aren't top shots.

A new type I feel could be useful would be a light-weight utility weapon, for those of us who would rather debuff/focus on objectives/keep our team alive. Maybe a weaker weapon with a built-in unique ammo power, or the ability to throw down some kind of temporary cover.

My favorite weapon is the Phaeston. Slow reload times kill me, and with some weapons I feel like I'm spending half of the match inching along while reloading.
Some of the weapons seem redundant (Eviscerator, Katana, Wraith, Scimitar, of the shotgun family), and I'm not really clear on the differences between them other than small amounts of damage/weight.

Large variety, yes. Good range, no. The full auto assault rifles, save for the Harrier, don't really do much on Gold. SMGs are all but useless, save for the Hurricane.

Actually, yes. There's one weapon for every instance, save for getting you away from the Banshee's tractor beam.

>"Do you feel there is a good range of weaponry to choose from?"
I think the selection is nice, but there's always room for improvement. Some weapons just feel like straight up replacements, while others are way too similar, and some I don't even know why they're in the game because they're so unusable.

>"Do you feel there is a weapon that fills every niche and level?"
No I don't. While the selection we have to pick from is nice, I feel there's quite a bit of overlap from what we have to pick from. That said, I feel that there's not a lot that feels very unique and interesting. I know not every gun can be something wholly unique and different like the Falcon, Carbine, and Harpoon Gun for instance; but I'd really like to see more 'outside the box' weapons like these rather than just mixing and matching fire rates, damage, and weight.
These unique weapons open up new worlds of gameplay, experimentation, and fun for me as I work out how to best utilize them. Something I can't really do with standard munition weapons due to their vanilla nature.

>"With the above questions in mind, which is your favourite weapon over overall?"
I'm personally in love with the Scorpion. I just wish it weighed a little less and shot a little faster, but dear lord is it a blast to use. (pun half intended)

Yeah I guess there's a good spread of weapons. I feel that the smg's are a little useless currently with their only redeeming feature being the ability to use ultra-light materials which currently doesn't work.

With this said the best weapon in my opinion is the Hurricane.

Yes.

For the most part. Seems like the middle ground is lacking and there's a growing disparity between low-end and high-end weapons.

I enjoy the Falcon because it offers the ability to stun/stagger enemies that helps out the more fragile classes in close range (Adepts, mainly). It also looks badass. But I probably play with the Hurricane the most.

Do you feel there is a good range of weaponry to choose from?

I would say the variety is there though there are some weapons which are largly redundant given they have been surpassed. that said there is also some serious flaws in the SMG class with ULM broken and the only 2 decent ones being the Hurricane and Tempest  on gold could use some more SMG's  for sure   * cough  BUFF THE LOCUST cough

Do you feel there is a weapon that fills every niche and level?

Most niches yes , I know people say there like 11 Assualt rifles , but in reality theres only 5  Avenger , Mattock , Vindicator , Harrier , Geth Pulse Rifle which can be called true assault rifles and even then how many burst rifles  are commonly
used   in games these days , the rest are speical weapons or MG's (( Phaeston , Revenant )) or Heavy Weapons (( Falcon , Striker , Sabre - is really a sniper  , )) with that in mind would like to see an automatic Assualt rifle of Rare tier with decent ammo and stablity power somewhere in the middle ground between  Avenger and Harrier.  given the reapers are invading you would think Allaince would be fielding more upgraded varients of the Avenger / Valkyrie in field trials.

My Favourite weapons have to be the Hurricane ,  Falcon , Harrier , Avenger (( with Consumable and gear amps )) , CLaymore , Crusader  ,   Geth Plasy shotgun:wizard:  and the humble Locust (( on lower diffculties anyway  ))

I'm not sure what to say to the range or level questions. What I do know is I've given up on SMGs, and have still to find an Assault Rifle I like.
As to my personal favorite, it is hands down the Carnifax with the Scope and Armor Piercing Mods. That thing is an all purpose hand cannon. As a person who plays caster classes (Adept & Engineer), it's good at everything but extreme long range, and in game I've scored more headshots with it then several Infiltrators I've played with.
