Relays are not destroyed. Normandy is not stranded. Lots of retconning.

Considering how many people wanted a completely different ending that avoided both of those outcomes and more, I would think that a couple of retcons wouldn't be something viewed as a negative thing.

Bioware could have caved to "every" single demand people made about the ending and there would still be tons of ****posting for the next week or so.
Its just the nature of BSN and bioware fans in general, people expect a customized ending just the way they want it, and get pissy when the end doesn't match their fantasys.

We try to listen to all feedback we receive, but sometimes we receive conflicting feedback, or very specific requests that can’t all be implemented. Ultimately our job is to interpret the feedback and design something that addresses the bulk of the feedback while maintaining its own sense of design and integrity.

Well, at least they give their audience what they expected/hoped for in the end...and sadly ME-series at no point EVER made it clear that I had to headcanon the entire ending to please me..in fact it was implied by many Bioware-statements otherwise...

and that "disney" insult gets so lame by now...its not even an insult! I loved "Dragon Slayer" and the first "Pirates"

I've never seen people so open about admitting they don't like to use their brain. Kudos.

The EC fixes some plot holes, while leaving others. They mostly completely missed the point of most of the complaints, but that is a lost cause... they just refuse to get it.

It is interesting though that they said they would not be changing the ending, yet they did in some ways. Originally the relays are clearly blown up, now they just power down. They also now allow you to refuse to buy into the brats crap, then they basically said screw you for not picking one of our color choices. The whole reject ending was childish retort to some of the complaints.

Overall the horrible ending remains and this did nothing to fix it. Now we just have a horribly written ending with less plot holes. Ohh well, I'm done with this franchise, no DLC for me.

I have to say the endings are much better, but they still seem to push for the synthesis ending


it also shows how poor the original endings were, makes you wonder if there hadn't been such a fan reaction would they have made us buy an epilogue DLC

So, let's review here:
* Destroy ending: actually somewhat tolerable now, still pretty eh.
* Control: fan fiction come to life. Shepard the Reaper God? lol bioware
* Synthesis: creepy as all hell. Makes absolutely no sense (space magic>husks?). Everyone has green eyes. Horrific.
* Refusal ending: Bioware says: "Lol, pick RGB or you're ****ed. kthxbye" Ugh.

They made the ending open like that on purpose, your LI refuses to belive you are dead, and you are on the citadel. A chance of a reunion ishighly probable.

It is very, very heavily implided that they can meet again. they just left it up to you instead of deciding to make a single scene to fit eveyone's whims.

He is dead in human form, but alive in the reapers, everyone is alive so no sacrificies i.e geth, EDI. And REAPER SHEP rebuilds mass relays straight away and rebuilds earth and stuff. Best one so far, still watching synthesis though lol 

Not going to happen because of the writers, but one Reaper breaking out of Control and we could start all over again. The cost is too high to take that risk.

I don't think that is the risk in the Control Ending. The cool thing I thought of was that the Shepard AI could fall back on whether they were played as predominantly Paragon or Renegade. Paragon Shepard AI might become so driven that they could restrict themselves to a Code like Samara, and we all see how that ****s her up. A Renegade Shepard AI is ends justify the means, and a similair conflict like technological singularity might cause it to react like the Catalyst. I found this fascinating and made me really like the darkness to the Control ending.

You make a good point. Can someone be trusted with such power? Even if s/he could, would s/he be changed by it? This is also the reason I didn´t choose to merge with the AI option in Deus Ex.

I also wonder how they´ll make ME4. Control ending means next threat has to be way more powerful than the controlled Reapers. Anyway I´ll probably stay away from it if Walters is lead writer again.

Bioware could have made everyone happy by making an expansion or DLC or whatever that put in the Indoctrination Theory as canon and then had the scenario where you fight through it - the ending could be waking up in the rubble; thus setting up a sequel that starts with ME3's ending or something.

Instead we get "DO NOTHING, EVERYONE DIES ANYWAY".

Congrats, guys, you got what you wanted and to hell with the (obvious) consequences! Now we have four endings: Destroy, Control, Synthesis, and Darwin Award.

Nor did they explain how the squad got onto the Normandy before it crashed. Nor how the ship survived that crash to then take off again (which strikes me as a last-minute change, otherwise why even have them crash in the first place?). Boy, don't you love all this clarification?

Seriously, you want your Disney ending it's right there in game. "The Reapers are our friends now and I'm a real boy girl and now we know everything and we're going to be immortal and it's so beautiful!"
