Okay, I HATED HATED HATED the original endings. SO MUCH.
... I liked this. I went in expecting to be utterly disappointed. I instead felt it was extremely well done.
Is it perfect? Oh, hell no. But the fact they managed to address 90% of the massive list of problems the original ending had is impressive. The endings work so much better, the feeling of accomplishment is so much stronger, and the personal investment towards your crew and love interest pays off in dividends.
It's apparent they did listen, they did try, and they did address an overwhelming number of problems people had, and the final product now is significantly more satisfying. It may not be an "A+", but it pretty much went from a flat "F" to an encouraging "B".
This. Exactly this.

I was actually okay with this. Kept the dialogue from dragging and remember, the entire first game we had no idea about the origin of the reapers and were pretty okay with that. Yes curious, but accepting of the fact that they were the evil boogie men of this unniverse and needed to be dispatched with or without back story.Blue Liara wrote...
When shepard asks the Star child about his creation and the reapers this is one of the responses he gets....
“You do not know them, and there is no time to explain”
WHY BIOWARE WHY!!!! What a cop out. You lazy ughhh
And the weird, creepy (creepier if you refuse all the choices), glowy kid had a point. You don't have no information about any civilization fro 150,000 years ago and no context to frame the catalysts answer in. And where it came from had no bearing on the current situation.
Anyhow, I will sum up how I feel about the DLC in two words:
BABY KROGANS!

3.) Implied LI Reunion
How come? Just speculation?
IF you're alive, your LI will NOT put your name up on the memorial wall. He or she will hesistate and look out hopeful. If you're dead, she or she just puts it on the wall and cries.

Spot on, I agree 100% .
What difference would it make for us to know which species created the Reapers? We have gotten no information on them previously whatsoever, it would make no difference for us to get some info about them from a 15 sec convo.. We got what we needed to know, they created the AI that then made them the first Reaper against their will, so even they did not want to become a Reaper. Thats definately enough information for me, and I think it is for everyone if they think about it.
The extended cut went way beyond my expectations, now we can actually talk to the catalyst instead of just being thrown into decision's we know next to nothing about, we get more cutscenes showing what happened afterwards, people don't actually starve to death (wooohoo)
No but seriously, they did a great job here, as I have seen people say in other threads.. My faith has been restored!
Well done Bioware!

Really wanted a reunion scene, but other than that, pretty good
Oh yes, it would have been a very nice scene to have, but it doesn't ruin anything for me.

My only problem was no expansion on the "Shepard lives if you choose destroy" part. Considering not everyone chooses destroy I expected some expansion (a reunion?) for those who did choose destroy.

I'm especially pleased they took out the totally non-sensical destruction of the relays. That and the one final installment of the Vakarian and Shepard show...

As soon as the kid walked away, I thought to myself, "Oops. Wait. No. Come back! I choose synthesis!"
When Liara popped up and started telling the next cycle how we all died I felt pretty sheepish.
I think BioWare might have been ribbing the critics there. "Don't like out endings, huh? Don't want to pick any of them do you?"
Anyhow, people in the room at least were amused at my wailing.

I was definitely a lot happier that Bioware answered so many of the questions that were left in the original ending like what happened to the Normandy, crew at the conduit run, mass relays, and every fleet on Earth, and then the little stuff with the LI., plus the pictures with Hackett's narration - even though that part seemed kind of half-assed.

If you picked Destroy and lived, your Love Interest will NOT put your name up on the memorial wall. It's actually pretty good foreshadowing, especially since you're shown alive moments later with the breath scene.
Just put two and two together.

I loved that, honestly. My LI still holding a glimmer of hope that Shepard was still alive somehow, and then cutting to the scene in the rubble... it gives me a little hope that very soon someone is going to get a very welcome surprise.
