Mass Effect = huge fail
This is what happens when you steal shamelessly the story from Star Control 3.
Go check it out yourself if you don't believe me :)

Yet you've bought two games that you don't like and think it's a fail? Your point has no credibility. It's like a hired prostitute calling the man she's pleasing a 'sex crazed freak.'

Not hard at all.  Somebody obviously thought such an ending would be lacking in Artistic Integrity.

i'd guess that the rescue DLC that was talked about before...especially now that they've said moving about the galaxy is still possible might be feasible to give us this...

I saw Shepard alive in one true ending again. Why are you trolling us, Bioware? Make the conclusion or you are slowpokes. Or announce ME4 at least)

Can we get an extended cut for the extended cut?

The new ending was kinda short.

I think it'd be cool if we beat it on Insanity, there was an extra scene with Jacob struggling with a Marauder. The two look up, see a Reaper charging it's beam. "This is it baby, hold me". The two embrace and the Marauder grabs Jacob's ass.

I loved the new extended ending! I love how they give you details on the choices you make and the consequences that comes with it, and how touching each different character narrative was for each diffident choice.

And of course there are still people complaining about Shepard dying, but what do you expect? A bubble of friendship to form around him and fly him gently onto earth? Our complaining about how bioware didn't change the ending at all; SERIOUSLY?! They even stated that they weren't so that they can stay true to their idea and vision for the game.

So, theory: Reject is the real ending, and the ME Trilogy is us playing through Liara's Time Capsule ("Herein lies the story of our war with the Reapers") as a prequel to the REAL war with the Reapers, that ends with FemStargazer...

(Further supported by the fact that Liara is already creating this Time Capsule during the main storyline, well before the EC)

I thought the EC was ok. It wasn't great, and it was sometimes obvious that it was very much a retcon, but overall it was an improvment of the game. The endings felt much more satisfying, although destroy is still the only option for me. I was glad to see the crew get off the jungle planet. I liked that I could ask the Starbrat questions and that I got some explanation to how my squadmates ended up on the Normandy. I still think there are some problems with the story telling.

Sooo....my verdict: Passable. Not amazing, not great, could have been done better, and I would still have liked to see a reunion with my LI, but still a huge improvement and endings which felt more like different endings, rather than just the same one with different colors, and the slide show made the endings feel more satisfying.

They could have atleast added a slide for your LI as i pointed out in my own thread and your post pretty sure the resources required for this would be minimal and it would have gone a huge way with the fans i think. Too me its the only real issue with the EC but it feels like such a huge issue i just feel down about it

Except the DLC was already pushing the 2 GB download max and there is a lot of extra time, work, resources, voice acting (or even artwork design if you don't have it VOed) that would go into a reunion scene with your crew (for both male and female Shep as well as having to do a unique scene out with every possible LI for both male and female Shep.

Ideally I would have LOVED to see this (a scene with a reunion with my LI) but I understand why they didn't. I'm holidng out a little hope that maybe they'll do a nice DLC that is just a reunion or nice memorial/funeral for Shep and crew that we can pay for. I'd pay for it much more than I've ever payed for alternate appearance packs or extra weapon downloads. And Mac Walters has said there is much more to come, so we'll see. But it is what it is.

Ideally they would have just had an artwork piece that triggered of just your LI (possibly like a photo with you as the person taking the picture) posing with a child (or more) that could have then been insinuated to be either your biological child with said LI or even possibly adopted child (if the whole biology thing wasn't gonna work for you and your LI). But again, I know they were already pushing the max file size for the DLC so I'm totally good with what we got. I LOVED the extra fluff at the beam with your team (and sure there are "realistic" problems with the scene, like yes, I am utterly sure Harbinger would have shot the Normandy down as it sat there waiting for you, but that's why this is a game and it's called an RPG moment lol!) I loved the extra dialogue with the StarChild, I loved having the explanations that helped me understand more and find peace with the game and my character and my crew, and I loved the epilogue letting me know the immediate future of what happened.

They've said they aren't going to continue this story, this is the end, so I entirely believe there will not be an ME4. But they have said that they plan on telling other stories from the ME Universe through other media outlets (comics, movies, etc) so I look forward to learning about the future of the ME Universe through those outlets. Because ultimately, no matter what choice you make, no matter what your EMS score was, no matter what of anything the universe is going to do what it is going to do, which is continue on and be fine. I'm just glad I got the glimpses into the future of the races and of my friends that I did.

Thank you Bioware!! This DLC was the best gift ever!!! I look forward to seeing what comes next.

There is a 2 GB limit PER DLC they could have released "Extended Cut part 1" and "Extended Cut part 2" both free and then there would be a 4 GB limit,  I would have gladly waited a bit longer for that.

haahha awesome! But I'd like to think that as a god/goddess Shep can make him/herself a sexier body :P

Fem!Shep stalks Garrus til his old age then moves on to some other promising people re-discovering the wonders of ...melding/close quarters combat/woo-hoo...  It's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Bioware, you absolutely suck. First we had 3 **** choices now we have 4. Oh and each ending comes with a little bit of extra crap just to make us all happy. Nah. Thanks for giving us the breathing scene and still not explaining it.
mind=blown.

Big ME3 fan here. Played the ME series to death. Am happy with the extended endings. Loved finding out more information, hit me in the throat with the L.I putting you're name up on the wall :P

Good to have most of it all explained and the indoctrination theory stamped out. It looks to have been only Illusive man doing the controlling in that room. I chose Synthesis myself (which I chose originally as well) and I'm happy with the ending now. Thanks for all your work Bioware! Very appreciated. I've watched all the extended cut endings now and I can see what's to come!

A little odd having a medical evac in the Harbinger situation. I think it would have been destroyed, and wasn't the Normandy in space at that moment? Pretty quick response. The romantic moment wasn't too long imo. Maybe a little but hard to fulfil that one for people, I can understand what was done here.

Probably the only thing not fulfilled for me was not being able to finally kick Harbinger in the teeth after all this time through the series and tell him where to stick it and that his whole world/existence is about to change because you just won't give up.

I didn't like that the question was skimmed over for who designed the crucible. "You wouldn't know them and we don't have the time to explain it right now". Still can lead you to believe you're being deceived by the catalyst.

The indoctrination ending could have really worked to your advantage Bioware and you could have done something revolutionary in gaming with that. Really messing with the player's mind and then having your friends save you and help you to become the ultimate hero and saviour. You would have had to have this ending released with the game release though and unlocked somehow throughout the game or on a global date unlock. Or had it in the pipeline for a 2 week after release date patch release to surprise the community with a 'holy crap we got head f'd' moment. Clever Bioware! (Maybe next time hey?!) :P I know a lot of people were looking forward to that being a possibility because of how clever it would have been and how easily it fit.

THAT you have to wait for. It's like waiting for the next series of Game of Thrones.... Hurry up already! :P

Finished playing the EC a couple of hours age. I didn't know the refusal ending existed, and considering it was my second playthrough, I decided it would be fun to shoot him. BAM. Everyone dies. I found it hilarious really. Did the ending bit again and chose destroy.

To sum it up, this time the endings were more bearable. Not great or mind-blowing, but bearable. A lot of my questions got answered, but like many have said, I would have really liked a reunion scene with Liara, and that would have actually made the EC more than just bearable. I did watch Synthesis on youtube, and felt like Bioware were kinda making it look like the best ending. Control just creeps me out.

I have to say that as a strong proponent of Indoctrination Theory and the people who put countless hours developing it, I didn't expect the EC to provide good logical and emotional closure for me, and while Indoctrination Theory would have still been awesome, Bioware has done a solid job with the extended cut. Thank you BioWare.

i haven't played it yet (not at home), but i watched the Destroy and new-4th-Ending on youtube, so here are my initial thoughts:
I kinda like that we can disagree with the Catalyst. I have to play it to find out how the other dialogue Options work, but so far, one of the Endings i wanted was:
Refuse to agree with Catalyst: Check!
Go down fighting: uh, let me get back to that later.
Next Cycle finds Liaras Capsule and has a better chance: Check!

The second Part is why even this new-Ending fails to satisfy me. One Cruiser being destroyed by a Reaper.... sorry, but it's not enough. I get that the file size for the EC prevented Bioware from going all out, but as it is, this Ending just isn't enough. Especially since it had to overcome the frustrations from the Original Endings.

Now Destroy.....I like the Scenes with the surviving Squadmembers in Front of the MemoryWall, and Wrex/Eve having Children. That was great. The rest:
The Fleet breaking off and heading to a rendezvous-Point: huh? Why? What?
Normandy NOT being damaged by Shockwave AND just flying away from the Planet afterwards: uh, wait, wasn't that Planet and the Normandy being crashed there part of their Artistic Integrity? So what changed?
Relays and Citadel damaged but repairable: Okay, so the Explosion was somewhere near the Citadel Ring, afterwards the Tips of the Arms are damaged. The Relay-"Rings" break, afterwards the Tip of the Arms are broken. How? Why?

I stand by my first Statement: If the Endings worked as intended, clarifying it should have been enough. If it's broken, they need to fix it.
Removing Scenes kinda indicates that it didn't work as intended. Adding a few impressive new Scenes isn't enough. At least for me.

All in all, i'm probably going to download the EC and play it, if only so that i can view it in hq and not the annoying low-quality-youtube-Version. But other than that: This is it for the Mass Effect Series. No way am i going to buy DLC or books for this.

I'm not sure yet what to do with DragonAge3, but pre-ordering is definitely out of the Question. And if another interesting Game is released at the same time, i can't see myself buying DA3 first.

The EC was actually pretty good Imo. Provided some good closure and capped it off nicely. It obviously isn't perfect but it is contentable. "Reject" ending was kinda nice for them to add-on and it actually makes sense for them to lose anyway (since in the entirety of 3 games, they've been telling you you cant beat them straight up). Really isn't as bad as it sounds.

Just finished.  I want to first off say thanks to BioWare for doing the EC, at least attempting to ameliorate some of the pain and anxiety the original ending caused for so many of us.

I thought in general the EC did explain exactly what happened much better.  Does this mean I now like the original Starchild/space magic thing?  Nope.  I did enjoy seeing the Krogan babies, I still don't think EDI or the Geth should have died, and why did the Fleet end up one place and the Normandy somewhere else?  Lots of speculation?

But I was mollified when Liara didn't put Shep's name on the wall and the Normandy lifted off to go get him.  I now demand post-ending LI DLC...demand?  I meant hold out hope for.

Anybody else notice in the control ending, theres an epilogue slide showing the citadel being rebuilt by the reapers, and in this shot, theres "harbinger", but he has blue eyes now. Does this mean Shepard is now Harbinger?

Shepard is basically all Reapers, as he is the replacement for the kid.  However, this still goes against what Sovereign said about the Reapers being independent.  It's a pretty sizable contradiction to have the kid say he was the will of all Reapers when the first one we met said that they were independent.

Hence why I wished the indoctrination was theory was true...
The kid cotradicts himself too much.
