I think if this ending had shipped with the game, the game would have been perfect. That said, having played the original ending, there were some things that just felt like obvious band-aids - like having the Normandy come down to med-evac Kaiden while running to the citadel beam. For a ship that was in battle, it sure did come down quickly - and why did it only pick up Kaiden? Why not all those other wounded people? But I have a feeling that if that had been the original ending, I wouldn't have questioned it like I do now.

My other tiny gripe is that it almost felt like they were pushing the "reject" ending on me. I guess I feel that way because I originally picked the destroy ending, and in the EC, after starchild tells you about it, their segway into telling you about the other options was rather negative. So, it felt like Shepard was telling me the option I wanted to pick wasn't good, let's look at other options. And she did that for every option, so in the end, it felt natural to pick "I reject everything," because Shepard was basically saying every option sucked, even if you thought you were picking the positive dialog choice.

So, I think if this had been the original ending, I would have picked the reject ending, watched it, been all, "WTF?" gone back, picked something else, and then feel like I had picked the "joke" ending.

So that's my feedback - otherwise, when I did my original choice, the Destroy ending, I was very pleased with the changes. More hope for the future, and hope that Shep and Kaiden will be reunited. Though, having now watched all the ednings on youtube, I have to say, the control ending does seem pretty awesome. But Shep and Kaiden won't be together in that one, so its not for me - but otherwise, it seems to be the best thing for the galaxy.

It almost infuriates me that they were willing to change some things but not others. The relays and Citadel no longer explode. The Normandy no longer crash lands. The Normandy now swoops in to pick up your squad(and is somehow invisible to Harbinger). Why not ditch the thing people complained about most? That ****ing kid still just makes the ending really stupid.

So now after i saw destruction end with extended cut, i believe that when Normandy start fly from planet they crashed, then crew can find Shepard if he/she survived. What do you guys think?

And if it managed to get that close, why not try dropping a few people directly into the beam?

So seriously i played it the Kid tells you more about some ancient race older then anything we know creating him and then he turned them into the first reaper so yeah plus in the Control ending Shepard fixes the Relays using the reapers don't know about the other endings but the Normandy still Crash lands it just doesn't get Damaged and flys away at the end

We try to listen to all feedback we receive, but sometimes we receive conflicting feedback, or very specific requests that can’t all be implemented. Ultimately our job is to interpret the feedback and design something that addresses the bulk of the feedback while maintaining its own sense of design and integrity.

What I don't get (And don't get me wrong, I am quite satisfied with the endings and I am not a hater at all, so I will keep this post civil.) is the marked spots in your post that I quoted.

The thing that Bioware wanted to do with the EC to a certain extend was to provide more time with the LI and the crew. Here is the problem: As far as I read out of your statement is that you are still worried about your "Artistic integrity", and that you hold to your visions of the ending. I can understand that, no more so, I can support that. It is your franchise. However, in what way is a little re-union scene in the Destroy over 5000 ending conflicting?

By the Scene labelled "Shepard_Alive_Male", it is obvious that Shepard survives at the end of Mass Effect III. The LI and the Crews Ship start from the planet after repairing damage to the ship. And, in my case Liara, refuses to place the plate with "Commander Shepard" onto the wall. I think in your artistic vision was always planned that Shepard and LI survive and reunite. I mean, the odds are more then good, they are perfect. So where would be actually the problem of adding a cinematic scene of that happening?

It is in no way conflicting, isn't it? You only give visual proof of what actually happens in your plan, assuming that this end was a possible reunion. It would also maintain its own sense and integrity, since you don't have to bend the universe around pretty much. If the Normandy can engage in FTL and fly, and Shepard wakes up in the rubble, adding one minute of extra cutscene where the Normandy lands close and the crew runs to Shepard, a short hug between LI and Shepard, and a few claps on the shoulder before it cuts to credits. Done, we are all set. Why is that conflicting? You can't tell me, in any possible way, that your writers didn't at least had that scene in their head once when they wrote the 5000+ EMS destroy end.

I get your artistic vision, and I really like what you did to the Synthesiz and Controll ending, and the fourth option, while beeing bitersweet, is fun. However, why not reward the player with this additional 1 minute of cutscene if he chooses to destroy the Reapers? Would that be so against your own plans? Was it never intended in the destroy ending for a reunite? Why add the breath in the first place then? I can't believe you not even once had that idea.

Thus said, I can understand both sides. You by all means want to stick to your vision of Mass Effect, and I can greatly respect that. However, it seems that much outrage here is about actually this one Minute missing. Would it be so against your vision to add this one minute of visual proof?

I hope we can discuss this in a civil way. I would love to read an answer, especially after I quoted your post above. I don't understand where this scene would be conflicting.

Oh well, I guess this is it. May I say, thank you at least for effort. Although it ended up as I feared, the few most obvious plot holes got patched up (even though Normandy planet side under Harb's nose didn't make much sense either), but the biggest nonsense a.k.a. Starchild stayed. Now I can at least send it to hell with it's options.

All in all, thank you for the almost flawless series (and at least a small proof, that you still care about the community).

P.S. Personally thanks for the refuse ending, however grim and short, it still seemed like the only valid choice.

At least we got a "Refuse" ending. It is the only ending MY Shepard would have chosen.

Other than that, the EC is a total waste of time. Such a shame...messed up a really great story.

I've only just seen the extended cut (I was already in a playthrough and not quite finished yet, so even though I downloaded it yesterday I did not get to the end)....Anyway what I'd like to say is "Thank You BioWare" - I only did Synthesis ending and I haven't seen the others yet, but I absolutely loved every second of it, I was in tears of joy and sadness all at the same time, it was wonderfully written and explained, filled in most of the things I didn't understand first time around and the epilogue sequence was absolutely amazing. The only negative thing I have to say is, all that should've been in the game already. I see not everyone was completely satisfied with it, but I was! Great job BioWare!

I appreciate the effort by the team to try and make things right, but it's exactly what I thought it would be.  For some, they wanted a little more closure.  But for me, it doesn't address the underlying weakness which is the entire starbrat section that is just out of place and the ridiculousness of his argument/reasoning.

I will say, I was amused by the amount of stretching that they had to do in order to explain some of the nonsense of the original ending.  Biggest, "how the hell do we explain this?" moment is still the Normandy landing in the middle of an open space midway in the suicide run towards the magic glow beam.

Apparently Harbinger is just a really good sport and just decided that shooting them sitting on the ground 200 yards from him was just bad form.

I'm no longer pissed ... too much time has passed and I'm just ready to move on.   I'm just sad that what could have been truly epic has been relegated to this.  My original thoughts hold.  I will -never- buy a game that Hudson is associated with in any form, period.  At this point, I can't think of a single thing thing that could have me spend another dime on the Mass Effect universe.  Bioware has one final chance with me in Dragon Age III.  I know they don't really care about my few hundred dollars, but it is the only response I can give.

I don't have a lot to say yet as I just finished my first playthrough with the EC and haven't seen much of what it has to offer yet, so I'll keep it brief.

When I got to the kid, I actually got to question his stupid answers, then I told the kid to shove it. That was satisfying. He said "so be it" in Harbinger's voice. That was satisfying too. The cycle continued and we all got wiped out. I already like it much better than the original. "God Child" feels a bit more like "Ancient Rouge AI" child now, which sits much better with me.

And they even replaced the mildly insulting "Buy more DLC" ad at the end with a much more appropriate "Thank you for playing" message.

I appreciate the hard work you put into this Bioware. I'm still not a big fan of the general direction you took after the last Anderson/Shepard scene, but from this playthrough I feel it's going to be a lot more palatable.

Yes, that would be the point. Your LI holding the plate with Shepard's name on it, not placing it on the wall, meant to say they're going to look for the commander.

Efforts are much appreciated; I preferred the EC to the original by leaps and bounds. My view on the entire game is still heavily mixed, but it's amazing how some slight alterations and a proper epilogue can change the tone that much.

Before I answer your question, let me just say that BubbleDncr has a point that made me think: "if this ending had shipped with the game, the game would have been perfect". Well, not perfect, but good enough so that we wouldn't have gone so far as to ask for a new ending. Probably.
Now, to your question I only want to say this: good point. <_<

First of all, I want to heartfeltedly thank Bioware for doing this for us. I still think the ending could have been better, and I still have questions, but I got some answers at least.

The downsides.

Why in the name of hell did my FemShep call in the Normandy for an evac for a hurt Garrus and Liara (my squadmates)? I get that Garrus was dying, and me and my Shepard love him, but goddamnit if my Shepard and I didn't know what we had gone into. Garrus knew what he had gone into. So did Liara.

My Commander Shepard would NEVER have made that call. So in a game where choice is paramount, this should not have happened.

Next, why is the Normandy trying to outrun that blast? It's no use anyway, and by now they should have gotten some word that it'll do them no harm. Maybe Joker's trying to save EDI, but again, no use.

Also, Kaidan is a big, huge, *inappropriate expletive*. Like, seriously, I don't think any of the bad words I know are bad enough to describe how I feel about him right now. After all I did for him, and he continuously screamed at me for saving him like all the time, he doesn't even try. Seriously, I thought I hated Ashley. Kaidan just used me to get the Normandy.

Even though he should've died (I know it sounds harsh, but, well, it wasn't like me to have him saved), I did really like the part where Garrus really had some trouble putting my name on the memorial.

Which wasn't necessary by the way, I survived.

My stomach started twisting and actually hurt when I saw Anderson on the memorial. :(

And how did the Normandy crashland, without any damage? Why haven't I seen dr. Chakwas anywhere?

This ending is better, but the "Dark Energy will destroy the galaxy in about 500 years" could have been way better.

The Extended Cut is nice. Mass Effect 3's conclusion is still, however, terrible.

Overall, I think the EC wasn't good at all. The only redeeming quality was probably the Reject ending, but you should've have been able to win if you had a high EMS. The added conversations with Starbrat sounded like mindless drivel to me, didn't really add anything. Oh well, good thing I don't really give a **** about Mass Effect anymore. TIME TO PLAY DAWNGUARD!

Agreed. It's good to know that there are still some game companies out there that don't insult the intelligence of their fans.

I liked the EC.
Is it perfect? NO
But it's a lot better than the old ending, and i can go with it.
But now I want a "Director's Cut" DLC with the ending about the Dark Energy that was leaked a while ago, which sounded a lot more interesting!Image IPB

I take my own experience in consideration. I was amazed by the indoctrination theory and disappointed by Bioware's artistic vision. Despite that, I centered my focus on neutrality while starting to play through the EC. Let me tell you that I detected a raw 50% increase in my satisfaction toward the outcome of this game.

There is different dialogue for RenShep and ParaShep right? My RenShep went up to the decision chamber room passed out ( seemingly ). When she arrived, she was awake. Starchild then walked over and asked me what I was doing there.

I'm pretty sure my ParaShep was awoken by the Starchild.

What other differences are there?

While I can say that I would buy DLC now, I just wonder what they're going to explore with it. Obviously, we want the Destroy ending explored and be reunited with your LI. We all know Shep survives, but....he just has to be on Earth. I cant imagine them saying he fell through the atmosphere and survived due to his implants, and I doubt he just woke up in space surrounded by re-bar and concrete. Obviously, Indoctrination Theory is a lot more of a stretch now, but I still wonder. I just hope whatever they do, the paid for DLC doesn't reveal that the Destroy ending was the *true* ending and confirms the IT correct... Most people are appeased now, doing something like that would probably instigate an all out war on EA/Bioware.

I really liked the EC, if only because it put two fingers up the the conspiracy (indoctrination) theory brigade lol.

Really liked the refusal ending, glad they chucked that into the mix.

Only concerns were... lol there was bound to be some.

Shame they couldn't have rendered the scenes properly rather than still images.

The breathe scene seems pretty moot with the greater explanation of what happens.  For control, the Stargazer scene doesn't play right as Shepard the Reaper will still be around.  Same for Synthesis.  That said, for synthesis I liked the EDI / Liara hug, but I'm an old sap at heart ^^

All in all, well done for sticking to their guns and pulling it off.  Unfortunately, there is no 'hats off' smiley, so I'm left with...

I HATED the ending of ME3 my first play through

after months of waiting we get the EC, and at this point i was not as angry, so I went from the attack on the base all the way to the end with a more open mind and looked as that whole journey as the "end" of the game

after I got done with all the dialog choices with star kid and choose my middle path, I was happy with the outcome. It wasn't the best ending in the world, but I love the touches they added like Liara telling my femshep she loved me before being forced on the Normandy.

I also loved EDIs voice over and I love them adding my name to the wall.

My only real complaint is why does it still not explain why or how this AI Star Kid, looks like a kid I saw on earth.

But bioware has earned a bit of my trust back and hope they can earn more back with good DLC.

on a sidenote, they will lose all my faith again if the next ME is a MMO game

So yeah, better ending. I wish I got to se more of the non-ME3 team members but overall I wish this was the ending I had seen all along. I cannot wait to see more of the ME universe in whatever form the Bioware team chooses.
