The EC Ending ist still not perfect. But I don't think that was even possible. But the EC gives me a nice feeling that i completet something big. All three endings give me answers i need to be satisfied.
Okay...I say it: Thanks Bioware. But please don't do this again with e.g. Dragon Age 3, (making a great game and f--- up the ending) I want to love you again!

I was going to make this a separate post, but I don't feel like getting banned for a 3rd time...

It's really cool seeing this forum riddled with positivity for a change! It seems like most people are ok with the EC.

Nice.

I don't think it can ever be perfect either.  This franchise has come to be so much more than a game to many of us and we all have our own "visions" of how things should end.  You can't live up to head canon.  You just can't.

That ****ing kid still just makes the ending really stupid.

I'm not a fan of IT, but I agree. The biggest illogical issue about synthetics killing organics to save them from synthetics is still here. That kid is telling bull**** about "fire" and bla-bla-bla, but there is a simpe question: why can't you use your Reapers to indoctrinate synthetics and make them friendly to organics? It's not so fun I suppose. We don't search for easy ways, yes.
And did you get it? He was made to be a peacemaker, but he rebelled against his creators and turn them into a reaper though they opposed? What a cute kid. His creators didn't expect this solution I believe.
AI thinks that it is a god and don't want any competitors. His logic is perversed, his arguments are false. Fire is natural thing, but it's hard to say the same about Reapers.
All this star-child thing has pseudo philosophical stuffing and falls apart because of a few touchs. Well, Bioware cuts its losses, the game became a bit better, but there is the same wormy core inside.
Thanks for an attempt. But the dark energy idea still will be soothing me in my mind. I'm done with this catalyst.

Extended BullCrap period. I mean normandy comes in for a rescue in front of harbinger no more than a mile away and nothing happens...

Old wounds open again. God damn you Bioware... godamn you. And if we refuse everything the next cycle does beat the reapers?... how when, in what form. "the one who came before us gave their lives so we wouldn't be threatened" wtf. Where is my chessy ending while sticking a pole up harbingers collective azz.

Damn you bioware for reopening old wounds... as I said before, Ea/bioware you can kiss my purchases goodbye. Rented Kingdoms of amalur, good game, but screw em for being associated with EA.

ok I finished the game again, the endings were better, less plot holes and the biggest ones were fixed up, 1 manly being the mass relay explosions, there more or less controled demolition explosions which is good I can accept that. I hope to see some decent DLC from bioware now that they can focus on that. and bioware thank you for listening to your fan base, yea you may have damaged it alittle... ok alot by most peoples standards but even you said it in the end of ME3, "with time we can rebuild what we've lost." so heres to the future, heres to Mass Effect and well heres to Sheapared.  it may have not been the ending we were hoping for but maybe that ending isn't lost just yet, I'm still looking for Garrus and Sheaperd on a beach relaxing while drinking hell that would be pretty awesome to see femshep in a nice bikiniy or even maranda ;) that would be epic.

I still want that house on Rannoch, but I applaud the effort put forth in the DLC. While I still find the ending kinda lame from a literary standpoint, it was nice to have a few plotholes filled, and a decent epilogue.

I'm totally awesomenessified by this EC DLC. I had lost my hope with mass effect and Bioware but now I can proudly state being a loyal Bioware customer again. This time the ending was just epic! Hopefully in their next rpg they add a typical Disney ending as choice as well. Thank you thank you thank you!

Well, at least this time I didn't feel like complete and utter **** after the ending. I'm also glad they lowered the EMS as I went in with only 3645-- a long ways from 4000.

The replayability factor for the series went up for me after the original ending squashed it, but I know I won't be playing it as much as I have in the past. I still wish for the option to argue with the starchild. Its logic is wrong; I proved that in the game, so I should be able to point that out, or at least point out that it turned on its creators, therefore breaking its "logical" mind and causing it to malfunction.

Overall, this is probably the best compromise we could expect. They gave us more of an explanation of things, and they got to keep their "artistic integrity".

  • A memorial scene was added, partly to show a close bond between Shepard and the love interest. The scene is variable, and if Shepard has a love interest in a given playthrough, it will be that character who places Shepard’s name on the memorial wall.

So does this mean Miranda was supposed to put Shepard's name on the wall after continuing the romance with her from ME2?  Because she didn't...

The EC was good,it should of being the endings we should of gotten from the start, but i still dont like the fact i cant have my damn super happy ending if i had maxed out score lol thats all i wanted was to see shep on a beach with the gang sitting next to liara with a lil belly showing he was going to be a dad.but no cant have that.

What does bug me when i do other playthroughs i just kill off the geth cause whats the point? and i tell edi not to romance joker cause whats the point if i want to kill the reapers.

I have played through the EC twice now. Control was vastly improved and I really liked it. Reject was short and I just now realized why: no flashbacks to friends (Anderson, Liara, etc.). My two cents that I wanted to add somewhere, is that you should have still had these flashbacks interrupted by the destruction of the battle overhead, in the same way that the flashbacks are interrupted by shooting the tube in Destroy or holding the glow sticks in Control.

My LI was Miranda as well, but they showed a video during the final walk into your choice montage. It was Ashley who was hesitant on putting my name up on the memorial. And for some reason, I was happy about this because I didn't get to do a full playthrough on PC. So in a way it was like my imported game hinted to ME3 that my ME1 LI was Asheley... and that is exaclty what I would have done. I was happy it wasnt Liara. So even though Miranda wasn't there, it kinda made it special for me.

I absolutely loved it. I got a double feeling aobut it but overall even if I loved and chose the same (control) ending before, I was amazed by the added depth.

I'm not so conservative and technology is ultimately not harmful in the right hands. The added discussion with the catalyst and the added ending dialog of shephard telling she'll use the reapers to aid the galacy proves that and makes me feel allright about this ending, basicly establishing the same choise I made in the non extended version.  To throw society back in to the dark ages by destroying their technology, or friends that are "technology" would be a bit short sighted. This ending embodies the kind of "wisdom" I stand for. And it extrapolates it more in the EC

My first thoughts (in the non extended ending) was like I was just alive long enough to give the reapers another function before I died. That felt well... right in my mind although a bit cryptic. But now I know I actually BECOME the reaper's mainframe this is totally cool:) So that's that part what I found useful.

But really there are other things that people where complaining about that is now handfed with cutscenes, and then I thought like... really ? with a little imagination you knew that the normandy wasn't gonna stick around, it's a valuable piece of technology and we have been protective about it (as players and as shephard character) throughout the trilogy, why would it stick around to be blasted away by a shockwave that's gonna engulf half of the galaxy ?

Now we are shown an extra repaired normandy scene after they have landed on the strange planet and i think like my god..... why would people not be able to imagine this ?

So part of the dlc is very good, because i got a good amount of motivation to back my "control" decision: it feels extra good to do this now. The part of the dlc seems like extra damage control which isn't needed if you're a true sci fi fan... that's what I think.

one thing i would of loved to have seen if you done enough of the right stuff, the destroy ending could of just target the reapers by causing there ME core to overload or shut down and bam the geth and edi live if you did the right side missions but nope :/

Control was haunting as it was a nice ending. It's a very cool "I will always be with you" at the same time ominous and positive. My personal choice is still Destroy with it being improved this time. To me, it just makes sense that this is what I would do. But synthesis is just.. wow.. Unique is what I will state it as.

unique and very cool to watch. I'm so glad they provided variance between all 5.

Lucky you.  I got Liara getting all weepy.  I'm tired of Liara.  Just plain tired.

I love the 4 new cuts of the ending that have been shown, the synthesis destroy control and refusal.

And this time around rather then destroy i did synthesis just for the fact of EDI being all emotional at the memorial plack placement on normandy's memorial wall.

It could have been better is war resources would affect the refusial option. It would make replays more frequent and people scouring for new ways to increase resourses.

I'm personally satisfied with all the extended endings. Major plot holes were fixed, story was expanded, and it hit all the right emotions for me. I chose destroy again because I was hoping for more explanation on Shepard living but when I got nothing more, I'll admit I was a little put off. But I thought about it more and now I kind of like it. To me, it's head cannon fodder. I took the scene where the crew stands around the ship memorial as happening BEFORE they left the planet they crashed on (since the next scene shows them leaving the planet). It probably took a few weeks to fix the ship because it wasn't that damaged. I like to think that maybe after they returned to Earth, they head to the Citadel and look for Shepard. Or Shepard is already discovered and recovering in a hospital on Earth when the Normandy returns.

Whatever you feel about the endings, one thing is for certain: Bioware made it so that we'll be talking about this for a long time. These extended endings explain just enough to let us imagine what happens after and gives us, the fans, a lot to discuss. I enjoy that. Thank you Bioware for your patience and understanding and a great gaming experience.

Sorry that I didnt read through all 70 pages of this discussion but what I did see says that they did NOT explain how the ground team got onto the Normandy.  This is not true.  They DID explain it.  Instead of running your ass off only to get shot in the face by harbinger a cut scene takes over and the Normandy comes in and picks up the wounded.  then takes off.  THERE:  That is how the ground team got abourd the Normandy.  And I do NOT care what anyone here says..  Flame me all you want.  BRAVO BIOWARE!!  JOB WELL DONE!!  I sincerely look forward to Dragon Age 3 and know you will do an AWESOME job with it.

THank you and good night

Edit:  OH  and you no longer have to play Multiplayer to get the best Destroy ending  and you can get the Regect ending Via Dialogue choices
