I can't believe this. Surely they explained why EDI survived when all AI was supposed to be destroyed? Surely there was some explanation for this?

I refuse to accept that the writers are THIS retarded. I refuse to.

I thought the explaination was that advanced reaper tech was destroyed, hence EDI, Geth, etc., not AI specifically.

edited to add control ending and to tie up some loose ends

MORE INFO IN REGARDS TO DESTROY ENDING:

*a short clip after the choice is made shows ashley (or your LI) telling joker it's time to go. he looks sad, and they fly off
*asari on thessia are celebrating, krogan on earth/tuchanka are celebrating
*THE MASS RELAY DOESN'T ACTUALLY FALL APART, THE CLOUD JUST ERUPTS, RETCON'D BABY
*hackett voices some epilogue. still shots of some squad mates are shown. squad mates who died are pointed out in still shots as well.
*squad mates shown (in no particular order, not that it matters) - jacob, liara, samara, thane, mordin, wrex, grunt, katsumi, zaeed, tali
*quarians are showing standing next to each other. wrex and eve had a baby it seems
*a scene on the normandy happens. ashley (or your LI) holds a name plate in front of the wall in the normandy that has the names of the deceased on it. the plate reads 'commander shepard' (no first name). all of your squad is standing there.
*if you got the 'perfect' ending, then that exact same shot of shepard breathing is shown. it was just moved back.
*cut to credits
*afterwards, the scene with buzz aldrin happens. nothing's changed
*the end message appears to thank you instead of implore you to buy more dlc from them

in summation, IT theory given a nice, big **** YOU, the plot holes are still there, they only retcon'd the relays being destroyed (they're just damaged now), admiral hackett goes bob the builder on us (can we fix it? yes we can!), and you get some still shots.

no reconvening with your LI, no house for tali, no drinks with garrus, no candy rave with jack, none of your actual choices are actually addressed, point, blank, period, the end. (note - tali is shown sitting in a room with shutters on a couch. the otuside looks bright. this MIGHT be that house she wanted, but i'm stretching it)

INFO ON THE CONTROL ENDING:
*same as above, with some exceptions as follows
*instead of hackett voicing the epilouge, IT'S SHEPARD
*shepard is shown in a white light, walking towards the screen slightly
*everything listed above happens. note - in destroy, i can't recall if EDI was there. however, she definitely is in control.
*he says he understands the reapers, and he will now act as a guardian (by controlling the reapers). he says the people who helped him and sacrificed will be watched.

in summation, shepard becomes space jesus h. reaper and he thanks and looks over his apostles.

Thank you for posting this. I was hesitant after all the "EC in one word," style posts, but this sounds like something I can live with. My biggest problem previously was the bitter, hopeless situation everything ended on. Stranded without food on an alien planet, no long-distance travel or communication, an overburdened planet supporting the entire allied fleet; the old ending sounded like a mass genocide perpetrated by Shepard and the Catalyst, which was something I couldn't imagine replaying and perpetrating again. THIS sounds like a bomb going off but the foundations for society remaining salvageable. Did I want Shep to reunite with his crew? Yeah. Would I have preferred a way to win without the Catalyst? Yeah. Still, what is being described sounds much more tolerable, and I'm now looking forward to getting it on my PC. Thank you OP for the hope; its not easy to come by on these forums sometimes, lol.

Managed to get Starchild/Harbinger ending through conversation options alone. Liara appears as a VI for the next cycle. Everyone died... :(

EDI is advanced reaper tech. As are the Geth after they upload the reapers software. I bloody hope they explained it better than that.

And, if the Geth and EDI now don't die, us there a trade-off for choosing destroy? Why in god's name would anyone choose control or synthesis if they can kill the reapers with no repercussions?

On the contrary:

i can confirm that the 'reject all options' choice is real. it only happens if you shoot the star child. his voice will get all scary, he'll say 'so be it' and guess what? YOU LOSE ANYWAY. you see a hologram of liara saying they failed

I see this as a first clue that IT may be correct.

If you reject - according to people - starchild sounds like Harbinger. This may further suggest the theory that Starchild is controlled by the reapers.

Liara says they failed to win against the reapers and starchild says "so be it."
It's an indication that IT may be true.

Part of the theory discusses how "Starchild" is just a fabrication of the Repears to throw shepard off - and have him not choose "Destroy".

When you reject the ending - and Starchild says "so be it" (in Reaper voice) - and Liara says that they weren't able to succeed - it further indicates that Starchild was just a fabrication by the reapers - and the reapers destroyed everyone.

Dafuq is this blabbering about starchild being controlled by the reapers? I never seen any difference between one and the other.

Reading all this makes my blood boil... I like many other ME fans came here on a DAILY basis to see what the community speculated about connecting tweets, and other small facts of information together to see what things the devs hid deep only for a HARD CORE fan to discover.. Because thats what BW said... "SPECULATE"!!! "SEPCULATE"!!

GOD DAMMIT!

Feels like I wasted my time now reading all those threads of awesome and yet pointless discoveries.

So... they tried to fix the plotholes by adding more of them? Mind blowing. It seems like they really think like the catalyst.

What.. what plot holes? Well, new ones? Just because they didn't show/tell/explaoin everything doesn't mean I don't feel like I understand. I can honestly say, I am satisfied with the ending, now, and GUHSUAUFHJESJFKSNFKJBKAJFJSFNKAB..... Sleep. Seriously, no more refresh, bad SE-JN. :(

Shoot Starkid, you'll hear Harbinger. Another plothole for me.

That makes me think that the Catalyst isn't who he says he is... But what that means, I have no idea.

About plot holes, I was more thinking about the Normandy. It still crashes on that jungle planet, yes? Then the crew  gets out to admire the scenery. Then they... change the tires and take off again to go back to earth?

This sucks ass... Seriously ... So all our SM still magically appeared on the Normandy ... And Hackett used his Prof X powers to sense Sheppard's presence in the Citadel telling him to activate the Crucible... Nice just what I expected.

So the endings still suck, I still have to headcanon a reunion and the normandy crash scene is now in there for absolutely no reason since apparently they just manage to leave the planet again afterwards.

Wow... good job wasting 3 months BioWare.

16695 TMS and EMS @ 100% with 11850 of it from my N7 ops teams with a few more SP missions to pursue. (around 4850 N7 rating atm).

Guess I'll keep playing my MP matches hoping that someday it will make some damn difference because, from what I've read, it is still the same incoherent mother of all plot holes, now with extra 1.9 GB of it. But I will still play SP to see it it. At least MP is fun and brought lots of people together.

you people are absolutely stupid. Catalyst sounds like a reaper because he was made by the reapers. He takes on the childish form to make it easier for you to identify with him. In short, he's technically just a program. Would you prefer you were being spoken to by a booming disembodied voice? IT isn't a thing any more and synthesis is still the best option for all organic life. If you'd have watched the synth ending you'd know that.

And for those who are wondering why everything died after shooting the catalyst, think about it for just or second. The all powerful machine race, who have succesfully wiped out all organic life 200 million times before is giving you, the first race ever, a choice. If you respond by shooting it in the face, yeah, you're obviously not going to live much longer.

This ending stuff gave me exactly what I wanted anyway, in done with these forums. I simply can't believe people can't let go of their little indoctrination illusion. They even fixed the end scenes to make them LESS dream like. Face it, it isn't happening.

Who's retarded? Don't you get it that the Reapers were doing everything so Shepard would not choose DESTROY? They put the Starbrat there, so he could explain how baaad it would be to choose this solution. Why the certainty that it didn't lie straight in your face, cause it knew, you would care for EDI and the Geth?
