With Synthesis, you override every living species' right to determine their own future and you basically desecrate the biological makeup of their species. In a way, you work against what you fought for through the entire series...strength in unity and diversity. In this ending, you decide unity is more important then diversity.

Desecrate? Why do you think the biological substance of life is somehow sacred? I have yet to see the EC Synthesis ending (waiting for PC version), but I very much doubt it implies to end all diversity. It just brings organics and synthetics closer to each other.
As for determining one's own future, as far as your future is determined by your biological substance, you never had any control over it in the first place, and as far as it isn't, you haven't lost anything. The problem isn't that you changed, the problem is that the change was effected by a free-willed individual instead of random chance, an Act of God (in the legal sense) or natural consequences, making your physical self subject to another's will.

I'm hoping the EC will work to improve that, and from what I have read, it does :)

I've heard good things. Can't wait to see it for myself (damned PC delay).

Big thumbs up from me too! So much more happier with this than the first attempt! :-)

I chose the destroy ending and it was nice that it left things open to the possibility of more games in the series to come (hopefully with Shepard and Miranda to return!)

In terms of the series continuing and not having stories set before the events of this trilogy, I think Bioware will just take which ending is most popular and run with that to continue the story from here. The outcomes are too different overall to be able to take them all into the next game.

In that situation - my backing is purely with the destroy ending, so we can have Shepard back and at least most of the characters we've all gotten attached to over the series. :-)

Overall, it leaves a lot more hope for all this than the release ending did. Thanks Bioware!!! :-))

I can't believe how satisfied I am. First I told starbrat to **** himself, then chose Destroy. And I'm really happy with it. I'm just smiling right now.

I know, right? I'm so cheerful that even the sore throat I have can't bring my day down now.

I hope this topic gets closed soon. What a horrible ending. If you don't want to violate the right of self-determination then you have to commit genocide. It is about time that writers watched some WWII footage to learn what these two concepts mean.

Oh, we do apologise for having a conflicting opinion. I'm sure yours is far more important. Lets just have bioware close every thread that disagrees with you.

Sorry? I didn't read the sarcasm in the OP. I've edited my post. And what if I disagree? What are you going to do about it?

SO your crew bails on you and Hackett and everyone leaves you there to die and thats okay because stuff we already knew ( people on other planets living) makes it all better when it was so bad 3 months ago. Sorry if I played ME2 I would take every SOB with me at the suicide mission. I smell a thread of plants to be honest here.

I looked at this stuff numerous times now and again see no detail as to why its good, and perfect detail on those saying why it is still flawed. They wouldn't let Shep just die and stay stranded by him.herself like that, sorry not in the characters MO. One line of dialogue and its totally okay now.

It's similar to beaten wife syndrome really.

I just think, like control, that synthesis is too big of a decision for a single person to make. Doesn't mean it might not be the best option out there, and I don't think it gets rid of all diversity (I believe it merely adds a building block to all living organisms), but you're basically deciding to change the physical form (and potentially the mental processes) of all living things. That's HUGE. You're deciding for everyone how their species should 'evolve', which makes you no better than the Starkid AI and the Reapers for wanting to guide all life through their technology for your own reasons(and, well, the Starkid's as well).

I think overriding the collective will of the universe is a pretty terrible thing to do, especially on this scale, even if it all turns out ok. Shep doesn't know that, going into the decision. it's not something that can be so easily explained and understood as 'control' or 'destroy'. That's where I'm coming from here. It's just too much. Probably the best ending, but I know my Shepard couldn't will herself to do that.

I am hoping the EC is all I wanted :) I don't mind filling in the blanks. Looking forward to 2PM :D

I'm okay with these extended endings. I'd have loved a reunion on the Control ending, but I'm not mad about it. Also, I loved you can see a Quarian without her mask on one of the endings, well played.
Now, I wonder. If our decisions matter on the future installments of the series, what role will the Reaper s play if we chose the controlled or synthesis endings.

Much better than the original endings. I chose destroy on my playthrough (and watched the other choices in the internet because I'm too lazy) and was quite satisfied with it. Full respect to Bioware for not caving in and sticking to what they believe and didn't change their intended ending instead of following the fan made indoctrination theory though it would've been awesome if they did. Of course, there will be people going to poke holes into the extended cut so let the chaos continue...

I was waiting for a reunion, but I can pretty much guess that it WILL happen.
Thank you Bioware for finally lettin' us see Normandy takin' off and goin back <3 At least, some scenes explained a lot to me.

But, with the breath scene, I'm still wondering if Shep will be alive or not.

Thank you bioware for not paying attention to any of your fans thank you for completly dimising our ideas of the indoctrination and sticking to your so called "vision". and while yes the cut clear up your terribly placed events it still does not clean up the heaping pile of garbage that you left behind. the plot holes are still feel endless and you did noting to listen to your fans when are you going to learn that just because you made the game dosnt mean its yours completly to destroy, you have frogotten that this was our game too just as much as it was yours and we the fans that have played and cried and shared moments with the characters of ME1-3 diserve much better than what you gave us.

Thank you bioware for being nothing more than another dissapointing company that managed to ruin the single best gaming trilogy twice you have completly 100% lost my support, my your company live on to crush the hearts of fans forever till the day you got no dim witts left that will follow.

wow!

maybe Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Mulan, and/or The Little Mermaid are more up your alley.

and if BW did EXACTLY what some fans wanted...we would have gotten a Snakes on a Plane type experience! you give EVERYONE what they want and they wont want it...cuz it would be crap! they would keep on complaining.

I hear Goldilocks and The Three Bears has a hallmark ending too! Oooooh! I know how about the ending to Winnie the Pooh!?!!<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3

You know, if the ending involves a race that violates the right of self-determination over and over again and reproduces itself by genocide using scare tactics, then maybe an ending which does not involve violating the right of self-determination or genocide may be proper. There is no such ending.
