Did anyone else think idea that someone has to be sacrificed is a bit forced? It seems like such a cliche, and it's just thrown in there without much explanation, seemingly because you need to make difficult choices in an RPG (Kaidan or Ashley?).
The ending

You can get away without such a sacrifice.

I know that. Maybe it's just personal preference, but I just didn't like the choices much from the Landsmeet and after that.

I was a bit surprised at the lack of at least one fairy tale option ending, but I thought the darker aspects fit the overall feel of the game quite well. DA:O is not a happy place, and the endings reflect that. I also didn't feel that the sacrifice was forced at all. I had wondered from the prologue cutscene why only Gray Wardens could end a Blight, and the answers were not given during the Joining.
Riordan shows up and I get my answer. I thought it all worked quite well.

DA:O isn't about Good and Bad, nothing in the game is clearly good and evil, even the Darkspawn are a grey in the game, they are afterall the products of the sin's of man, perhaps a punishment from the maker for breaching his divine paradise.
DA:O Is about presenting all sides as grey, and making the choices that you see as the best course. Doing things because they seem honourable and good won't make you a hero or give what could be seen as the best ending for all aspects of the world. Sometimes cruelity and brutality are needed in the world to make it better.
