I love this game but some times my pc wont find the DVD it would just sit there making noise in the optical drive. I got a new SATA DVD drive incase this was the problem but it still happens.
The old drive seems to work ok with other disks.
The disk has no scratches or prints on it.
I can play the game however I often need to open and close the drive to get the disk reconised before I load the game.
I got my copy from play.com should I ask them for another disk? I have got all the DLC.
My pc is windows 7 and my new SATA dvd drive is hp dvd1160

How did you fix the problem in case someone else has the same issue?

Good question, since I have seen others asking about similar symptoms!whtnyte-raernst wrote...

I am sorry to say that the fix is unoffical and so I can not advise you use it. I looked for a way arond the problem.

Oh - I was wondering if there was a more official fix. I've had a lot of problems with the DVD not being found, though the player does seem to behave rather oddly with this disc. I'm left wondering if it's installed some nasty SecuROM-style thing a la the Fallout 3 "CD only check".

The game does not install any nasty drm. To help prevent copying it is not compleatly compliant with DVD standard. This is why some players don't work well with it.
