I came into this with virtually no expectations. And having just completed EC with Synthesis and I've seen all the other endings on YouTube. I'd like to post my thoughts on it. I'll get the criticism out of the way:

- First of all the redone Harbinger scene could have been better. Turning Harbinger's blast on Shep into a cutscene took away from the original set-piece imo. Also Harbinger is either and idiot or blind because he relented from blasting the Normandy into pieces when it was just sitting right in front of him for a minute and a half. He also seriously cut down on his laser strikes for no reason.

- Synthesis still has no lore-science behind it, which actually might be a good thing considering the terror of them desperately coming up with reasons for why it's plausable. Image IPBImage IPB Is the way to go considering the circumstances.

- I would have loved to hear what happend to the squadmates. Didn't happen.

- Retcons. For all the "artistic integrity" stuff they still plain rewrote a few vital elements in the ending. Everything was pretty feel-good despite the bittersweetness of the original ending, as well.

- Plenty of other things deserved extra scenes or revision between the beginning of Cronus station and the rush to the Conduit. Too bad it didn't happen.

- The music in Control... WTF that was creepy and foreboding!

- They basically wrote themselves out of the Normandy strading and its colony. But to be fair that was pretty dumb anyway.

Now my praises:

- I find the Catalyst scene is tolerable to me now. A bit of depth to its character and how its an AI hypocrite who forced its creators to become Harbinger. It also established that conflict between synthetics and organics is always inevitable through its testing and experience of the original civilization of the galaxy. Argue with it all you want but that's how it is in Mass Effect. Also it preserves ALL species regadless if they're synthetic and organic. The Catalyst is also not racist and is as concerned for synthetics as it is for organics. The solution exists for both. Overall the Catalyst got more depth to it which is very appretiated. I don't outright hate it now.

- It was nice to see where the galaxy ended up even if it was all sunshine-and-rainbows other than Shep possibly dying and/or never reuniting with his/her friends.

- Best possible POVs for all endings. EDI was great in Synthesis.

- The LI scene was welcome. I see EDI now has programming for adorable, heartfelt hugs.

- Reapers helping out in rebuilding? Badass.

- Refusal was brilliant. People are saying it's an FU from the devs, but Shep makes a decent point in the ending and ultimately it ends on a hopeful note with the destruction of the Reapers in the next cycle.

- The slides implying the fates of the Krogan and Quarians/Geth instead of a lengthy explanation was a cool way to do it.

Overall I think Bioware did an okay job. Not the best, but not the worst either. Their was lost potential, but most of what Bioware did it did decent. I think the ending is a bit better than it originally was and I'm just grateful this wasn't an utter disaster in my eyes.
