Agree, the extended cut is much better.  I'm still not a big fan of the dream/star child mechanic in the storytelling, but other than that the extended cut addressed the majority of the issues I had with the original ending (i.e., it didn't explain what the heck was going on and didn't tell me a dang thing about the fates of all the characters I spent so much time with over 5 years).

I do still wonder what happened with the original ending - did it just get rushed out the door?  Or did somebody actually think that was quality?  I'm pretty sure that if the game had shipped with this expanded ending, even if it had to delay until June to launch, the whole ME3 ending blowback would not have occurred.  As it is, unfortunately, the combo of DA2 and the ME3 ending has dropped Bioware from "will buy any game from you on faith" status to "carefully evaluate reviews and wait to find out if the game is worth buying or not."  But I am still looking forward to more SINGLE PLAYER Bioware RPGs, and hoping I won't be disappointed in the future.

My two cents:

Thank you, Bioware, for your hard work.  I can't help but wish that this new content be released with the copies of the game that are being currently distributed all over the world.

My biggest complaint: the audio mixing.  This isn't just for the extended cut DLC but for the whole game.  I shouldn't HAVE  to tinker around with the levels in order to hear my character profess his/her undying love to another character, etc.  This has a been a giant "bête noire" of mine for all of ME3.  The sound design, however, was gorgeous.  I've now played the game through a set of surround sound speakers and a pair of headphones; I still have the same complaint.

Sad to say, but I highly doubt that I'll buy another Bioware game until things change.  You did a fantastic job of doing something completely new, but sadly, I'm not sure if EA was rushing you or what… if you'd had more time, this could have been better.  This also means that you can say goodbye to this customer for DLC (until the price comes down) and/or multiplayer.

I appreciate the entertainment value, but I can't see myself chucking another eighty-something bucks into something that could later only go for thirty in less than a year's time.

Again, thank you for at least doing this.    :D

Yeah thanks BioWare, you re-kindled an old flame. You actually managed to get me invested in ME again, now I want to experience all 4 endings for myself using an appropriate Shepard. I was stuck on import 3 of 7, but I'm definately going to do another full SP playthrough now. I feel it's worth it. Good job BioWare, well done!

I was one of many disgusted ME3 players, I actually shelfed this game...

But, after seeing the new Extended Cut endings, (via youtube)... I am going to go back and play ME3 again...

You have restored my faith in your brand again... can never please everyone, but the effort the ME3 Bioware team has gone through to bring us the Extended Cut has shown me this "is" the company I loved... Mass Effect 3 will now be remebered as one the great stories, just like ME 1/2, Jade Empire, Bladur's Gate, and Dragon Age...

Sincerely.

I love the extended cut, this is what should have been in the game in the first place. I feel sorry for those without internet. Thanks Bioware, good job.

The extended cut for this game fixed every single problem I had with the original ending. Not many studios would go back and add content like that. So I am VERY grateful. Now I'm fully pumped up for some Dragon Age 3 action. And I'm pretty sure Bioware will do a Mass effect sequel, those are all the rage these days.

I finished another playthrough last night with the Extended Cut scenes and I have reiterate how well BioWare handled this.  The game's ending is now complete and the I would rate ME3 9.5 on a scale of 1 to 10 overall (still a few bugs in there).  Thank you again BioWare for addressing the game's original ending and I hope we see some singleplayer DLC very soon!

Good thread. Many thanks Bioware, and I hope you know for everyone who complains, there's probably 10 people who love your work and say nothing. The EC wasn't perfect, but it made ME3 better. Thankyou for it, and everything else :)

I just made a full play through as opposed the preliminary one I did just to see the ending stuff. Yes, the new stuff really made the story a lot better. Thanks again!

Thank you for taking the time to produce this free DLC. I can't imagine it was easy to hear all the criticism, but thank you for taking the time to listen and giving Commander Shepard a better send off.

Just finished my first post-EC FemShep story and have to say, that even though I liked the original ending, the new one is fleshed out a lot more and does make more sense of the completion of the trilogy. FYI I have only picked the Red ending so far - one pre-EC and one post-EC. Can't say I'll ever choose Green, but will do Blue and Black once just to see them (and no, I haven't YT'd either of them, prefer to see them first hand for myself ).

Thank You Bioware for making an already great game even better, and completing the best Sci-Fi trilogy of our time :)
