Wow BioWare, nice job ruining the beam-run scene (spoilers)...

You guys saying this is what we asked for...

Yes, but I don't think anyone said "make it stupid!"

I just assumed they would've taken your squaddies out of the equation before you started your charge to the beam. Anything but how they did it.

And I actually have come to appreciate a lot of the EC. But that part is completely stupid.

If normandy was so fast to be able to do that why not just drop shepard off there in the first place instead of fighting all the way to the beam

Yes i agree, it does not make sense at all.

The ending was already stupid. By clarifying it, we were essentially anticipating them adding more stupid by default.

Hence why I'm really not surprised by how this particular scene played out.

It does ruin the flow a bit.

"We make this last stand, together!...Except you guys, you need to live."
"But, we're almost-"
"NORMANDY!"
*Zooooooooom* "Yeeeeeees~?"
"Get these likeable characters out of here, things are getting ambiguous."
"Ceeeertainly~!"
"But, Commander, seriously, it's like 20 feet away. I said I'll fight till the-"
*Zoooooooom*

EDIT, Part 2:

"Right, that plot-hole has been sorted out. What was I doing?"
"....."
"Huh?"
".....!!!!!!"
"Ohhh, right. We were fighting weren't we?"
"....-"
"Neat. Let's carry on then. On three, ok?"

They should have did the pickup scene afterwards when shepard made it up the beam it cuts to the squadmates injured but alive and they radio for help or something like that not just do it during the charge

So much truth. How they didn't just have your squadmates picked up after you're beamed up is beyond me.

It does feel forced and it does ruin the flow of the beam run. I assume that's why it was never included in the first place. But I don't mind it that much. Harbinger has no reason to focus on the Normandy. His top priority is to stop whoever is moving towards the beam, not some ship that is way over there evacuating the wounded. Shepard got his/her final words in with his LI and ran off to save the day. I'm okay with that.

I think "You asked for this" covers this complaint. Next!

people asked for a logical ending that made sense and fit the mass effect series without leaving plot holes, contrivances and general nonsense.

no one asked for this.

I loved how Harbinger was just like "K guys I'll just stop firing here and let you patch up this plothole while making another one"

In all fairness I was really glad to see Shepard say her final words to Liara. It made sense now as to why the crew was on the Normandy at the end and why the Normandy had taken off originally. Those last words Shepard said to Liara made me tear up.

It ruins the whole feel of the final charge. You had no problem sending everyone on a suicide mission in 2. In the lead up to it you make your peace with everybody and everyone is ready to die. Then it finally happens and it's like "Oh ****, did you know these Reapers had lasers. You guys better take off."

I am a fan of the EC, but they really should have just cut the entire Joker, pick up crew, evac to jungle planet, leave jungle planet scene. The ending would hold up just as well (or better) with the Normandy still being in orbit around Earth and picking up squad mates after the battle. The useless scene with the Normandy on Eden could just be removed.

see this was so easy to fix, before you charge the beam shepard sees what you have to do and orders his squad back because he knows it almost certain death, then charges beam walone with no squad, oh look just fixed plot hole with out looking stupid!

Dident Adm Andersson say they cant bring air support to the beam because of the interference from the beam, the same thing that made it impossible to shot the first wave of missiles to destroy the reaper guarding the rift?

SO why could Normandy land next to the bloody thing if he just said seconds ago that air support is imposible?

Hell, Why dident the normandy just land in the first place and destroyed everything with the guns?

Yeah, that one had me literally laughing out loud and shaking my head in disbelief. It was less dumb when they magically teleported from the death. Some other changes are major improvements though.

To me the worst change because it shows how little thought went into the "teleporting" in the original that they had to come up with THAT as an explaination of how they got on the ship. I'd love to have been in the writer's room that that bit of brainstorming...and I'd love to see what got rejected.

Yeah, while I think the EC makes things a bit better for the most part, this and the expanded Synthesis ending were made worse. You're going to stop in the middle of the last desperate charge to call the Normandy in from the middle of a space battle to come and pick up your squad, all while this BIGASS REAPER is sitting right there blowing everything away with its beams? Really? And then Harby just sits there and doesn't attack the Normandy? Really? And when the Normandy is leaving they even ZOOM IN on Harby's glowing eyes! Who at BioWare thought that scene looked perfectly fine?! Why not have your teammates get injured when the mako gets hit on the way to the beam and call for an evac for them there? And then have a shuttle come pick them up, not the whole bloody Normandy.

better than how it was before.

No it's not. They tried to cover up a plothole....by introducing another plothole.

Instead of teleporting squadmates (count'em...1 inconsistancy), now we have teleporting Normandy (I know we were with Sword fighting in space, but we managed to get here seconds after you radioed us!), and idiotic Harbinger failing to shoot the bloody Alliance frigate 10 feet in front of him. 2 inconsistancies.

Did you not play the game? Reapers home in on you constantly. Not to mention THEY HAVE EYES.

Shep risks everything to evac two of his crewmembers while countless soldiers and Makos are decimated all around them.

And before the EC, the beam charge was the best part of the weak Priority: Earth mission. Now it's a pretty big joke.

And it's too bad, 'cause the little emotional moments there with LIs are pretty damn good.

On one hand, the whole Normandy coming out of nowhere was extremely derpy. On the other, the dialogue was probably the best part of the EC.

Harbinger couldn't see them because windows are structural weaknesses. Reapers do not use them. :P
