This

I thoroughly hated the first ending and thoroughly enjoyed the EC. I am very happy with the ending now.

How?  Nothing has changed, and if it has: in a very minor way, Normandy still makes no sense, the relays at least don't nova-nuke the galaxy... other than that all the plot holes are still there.

The refuse ending should have been done much better. Plus starbrat screams like Harbinger at end, we are totally indoctrinated.

Yeah you're beIng punished.... They did it just to ****** you off. It had nothing to do with the fact Reapers had been killing millions to billions a day, that your COs have been saying over and over we can't win conventionally, or that the Crucible was our only weapon for a chance.
Then you can ignore all those factors that clearly say "without the Crucible, we are screwed". Reject the Crucible options and then get screwed. And then you can sit there and wonder "is Bioware punishing me?".

It's like a guy purposely running into a wall and wonder why it hurts. You're that guy.

Save for the fact that the wall was erected by a person who had previously promised that that road would be unblocked.

This better be a facetious comment.

Yes, they punished us and they punished sooo horribly that there are suddenly about 200% more positive threads on BSN that anytime during last three months. Looks like some people got what they wanted.  But when someone had impossible demands then no suprise he's feeling punished now.

Well i'll say this. This EC has given me enough closure from bioware that I should never buy another game from them. Ever. It really isn't even about the ending anymore. It's about the lying and the way the fans are treated now. The passive aggressive refusal ending. The fact that they know most people hate the ending and just went through the motions of fixing it but actually did nothing, and actually point by point did what the fans said not to do in a EC.

At this point I just don't even know what to think anymore. I just know bioware is not a good game making company anymore by way of the games they make and how they treat the fans. Lying over and over while knowing you are lying is not okay.

To OP: Not really. It was to show why rejecting the Catalyst in the first place wouldn't work.

Once the writers decided there was going to be the cure-all that is the Crucible, "conventional means" were written off as impossible, no "ifs ands or buts." It would've been far too much work to write an alternate story-line having nothing to do with the Catalyst. Of course, I would've loved that option and a lot more validity thrown into it...let's see, pursue the strange alien device or unite and fortify the galaxy?

WHY!?!?!  Why wasn't that done!?

The entire sodding trilogy was about uniting the galaxy!  Why was there never a point where you actually could stand united and fight!?

Because we were railroaded under the guise of choice :crying:

That makes no sense. You will need to expand that explanation. As far as I can tell, the Reapers will win. They have been winning and eventually will win. I also knew that the Crucible was the only way to stop them. Hence, just by the logic already presented (through the whole game) it makes sense: don't use the Crucible, die.
Maybe you are just upset that you fail logic?  Or reading comprehension?

You see there are 2 types of logic. Logic and Casey Hudson brand of logic. According to logic, Reapers can be beaten conventionally. According to Casey logic, we need catalyst starboy. You obviously have problems with logic, m'boy.

Yeah I love the whole point of uniting the galaxy. To stall while the  Crucible can be activated.

False choice has been the most consistent theme in the series. You are hardly insightful for pointing it out. Did Undina still end up the councilor even though you picked Anderson?  Did Cerberus become indoctrinated even though you destroyed the Collector base?  Did really matter if you spared the Rachni?
Choice has always been an illusion for technical reasons, otherwise we would have thousands of different game plots.

Did you play ME 1 and 2? You were railroaded throughout the series, why should this be any different? Why would you expect any different? If they plan on perhaps moving forward with the series, how can it make sense if my endings were vastly different from yours?

Are we litterally being punished for not accepting the self-confirming circular reasoning of the catalyst's pseudo-intelectual rubbish?  I'm referring to the "reject ending" where in we more or less get the gaurenteed "everyone dies", and yet somehow it is still my favourite of the now 4 potential endings...

Pure melodrama. Mass Effect's theme was ALWAYS about tough choices that had consequences. You NEVER got out of any of them unscathed. EVER. You can only defeat the Reapers with the Crucible, and it has been made clear countless times in the game. To do otherwise is tantamount to suicide. In short, don't be a blind idiot.

Haha because a DLC filled with space magic and no detailed explanations, which still forces you into dying and still retains ridiculous scenes makes everyone happy?

Killing Sovereign was supposed to be impossible. Through defeating Saren they find a way.
Beat the suicide mission with everybody alive, and any survival at all was supposed to be impossible.

What?

Despite the fact that Hackett says like three times throughout the game that conventional victory was impossible? I seem to recall every star system had Reapers in it by the end of the game, not just Sol system. That was the entire galactic fleet at Earth, even if they'd somehow won there they would have been wiped out when all those other Reapers unified against them.

No, Casey Hudson made the logic in the game and the consequences of refusal make perfect sense. It has been stated many many times that the reapers were winning easily, admiral Hackett and Anderson already stated many times that convention methods were not going to work.

Let I said before, no reading comprehension.

Aww, I guess you'll have to go out and find a real love interest instead of vicariously living through a video game character...

You say 'most consistent theme in the series', but list only things forced on us in ME3. Interesting, right? ;)

Overall the EC just seems like poorly forced attempts at recocliation. Like apologozing for ruining your steak dinner, have a burger off the Dollar Menu at McDonalds. Indirectly we're being punished for sticking with the values and themes of past games, because it puts us in opposition to Bioware.

Crucible is worst plot device after starchild himself. It is cheap. It is unimaginative. It is lie as it was said by devs that there "will be no ancient weapon against reapers found recently". It is plain bad writing. Ok. According to data we get from game, conventional victory is possible if you have really high EMS ~ 8000. It is enough to win without child.

And I am not talking about the most obvious logic flaw with starchild. You can't trust your enemy on his words about how to defeat him. Ever.
