Please. That article's title should read "Mass Effect 3's Extended Cut: More than People Deserve."

That is kind of insulting, isn't it?  Though I suppose the fans were insulting in the first place, so it's justified?

Anyways, Bioware even said they did this partly for themselves.  They wanted to expand the story and clarify their vision.  The EC was a much a reflection of their interests as it was the fans, and a large portion of the upset fans requests were ignored because it either conflicted with Bioware's interests or someone else's.

Perhaps we could all just stop insulting either Bioware or the upset fanbase?

@xsdob - no name calling.

The article was fine, I suppose. One problem with the comparison to Prometheus... Scott has said the DVD will include 20 or 30 minutes of extra footage. In other words, it's an "extended cut" of the movie.

In my opinion, I felt like this then notice this article and felt glad that someone else have the same feelings I have on this.

I think he makes a good observation when he compares the EC to Ridley Scott releasing an extended ending to Prometheus 2 months later. Obviously no one would be that interested.

BUT what would be interesting, and what people pay for, is if R. Scott released and ALTERNATE ENDING. They do that all the time when they release the movie for DVD/Blu-ray. So Bioware missed the boat on this one. They should have released an alternate ending. Instead they elaborated on the same old crap.

Again, he's right, but at this point, I don't care anymore...

Now take my money, Bioware and bring Kal'Reegar back from the dead.

There is a difference. Its not extra 20 or 30 minutes of the ending. It's extra 20 or 30 minutes in the whole movie. Then people have incentive to watch the movie again.

If Ridley wants people who were disapointed to see the movie again, that won't help. What he will have to do is release an ALTERNATE ENDING.

This is why Bioware missed the boat. What they should have done was released an alternate ending, perhaps accessible if you SHOT THE STARCHILD. So if your EMS was high, you defeat the reapers and if not, you loose.

Instead, they missed the boat and made an extension to the same painful ending that people hated.

I only disagree with the end of the article. Bioware has blow it for me too many times to trust them. They won't be getting anymore of my money, even if they come out with Garrus - Space Batman.

That's not true. We would all buy "Garrus - Space Batman".

Actually, isn't that the leaked Mass Effect 4 title?

So you will be going away then? I look forward to seeing you walk away.

That is what one generally means when a person is "done" with someone or something right?

AGREED. WAY TOO LITTLE. Its the exact same garbage as before. I can't believe Bioware thought this would make everything better.

Casey Hudson quoted as saying that their certain things they just couldn't do because,

"its not their story and they wouldn't know how to tell it"

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN.

NEVER AGAIN BIOWARE. THIEVING LIARS!!!

Many folks seem to disagree entirely.

But yeah, whatever.<_<

I think he nailed it pretty well. The extended cut definitely improves the original endings, but it wasnt spectacular.

The truth is, the new ending just moves the ending from horrendous, to forgettable.

I dont know if it was really worth the effort.

All I saw was "Waaaaaaaah, NO IT!"

And any improvement is worth the effort.

With the extended cut's failure I just realized that I honestly didn't give a damn about this game anymore.

I'm bummed out by that, but at least I can move on. Mass Effect was awesome for two great games.

I'll check out a fourth ME game if Hudson and Walters aren't involved ... I honestly don't like their work, or their vision at this point.

Where's this supposed failure again?

The BSN hasn't seen as many positive reactions since LAUNCH.

The writer of the article admits that he didnt start the save from the Cerbeus Base save point that Bioware suggested. I dont think he got the full experience of the Extended Cut. I wouldnt take this article as a complete review of the dlc.

Far too late? Do people even THINK about how long it takes to get things back into production, re-hire voice actors, render cut-scenes, test it and so on? All for an absolutely FREE DLC that they didn't have to do? Lol, no hope for humanity, I swear...

In the end the opinion of the reviewer is he personally wanted IDT and only did a partial review of the content, he did not get IDT and he does not like that fact. IDT was never Bioware's story so he is wrong about giving people IDT would of kept Biowares artisitic integrity... Maintaining their story they wanted to tell which is what 'artistic integrity' was actually about (not the accusations which the bitter people claimed and used to attack the developer and employee's) is the only way could keep artisitc integrity by not doing IDT. Doing IDT would of mean't doing/telling someone else's  story as opposed to the story Bioware wished to create. It is not integrity if the work is not your own so imho the reviewer is wrong in that sense. It was additional content for free, not because people were owed it but instead because through seeing feedback they thought they could do explain it better the story they created.

Well I agree, the article does seem to lean pretty hard towards IT.

If i can defend the guy a little bit, maybe he was just looking for something special.

The new extended endings definitely make more sense... But I was looking for more than that. Say what you will about IT, love it or hate it, you would have FELT something when it was over.

These new endings make sense, but they dont evoke feeling. I would have preferred the opposite.

Just my opinion.

You do have a point.  I think what he was referring to though was that this content should've been in the game to start with.  Though there's really no use crying over spilled milk.

After watching the endings and reading the article, I agree for the most part with Forbes. Not with the ending. I won't be happy with any Mass Effect titles after this. If anything, the article just seems to show a way of giving up. It's been three months, and Bioware obviously didn't listen, or didn't care.

Either way, this isn't close to being enough to fix the endings. It's funny, because with the about the same amount of effort they could have done Indoc Theory and bam, a lot more fans would be satisfied. But after this, I've had to give up hope. They obviously value 'artistic integrity' and vapid PR speak to their fans. So they can have that, and I'll spend my money on other things.

What do those economists know about art? Squat. Diddly squat. They only write these articles b/c many of the fanbase of ME3 buy into the opinions of some of their writers.
